POPCAP ‘14 - The Prize
The prize provides visibility for the winning artists, with the five awarded works exhibited in an open
air show in Basel, Switzerland. The mobile exhibition will then make its way to PhotoIreland Festival
in Dublin, Ireland, and then to Berlin, Germany, to the Cape Town Month of Photography in South Africa, the LagosPhoto Festival in Nigeria, and finally to Addis FotoFest in Ethiopia. POPCAP will invite
all winners to personally attend at least one of the shows. In addition to inclusion in the exhibitions,
the winners’ portfolios will be published in both the POPCAP ‘14 catalog and in European Photography Magazine, and their portfolio will be included in the piclet.org directory for hand-picked photographers’ portfolios.
Submissions to POPCAP are judged by a panel of 26 internationally-sourced judges. POPCAP was
awarded for the first time in 2012, with five winners chosen from 140 submissions by a panel of nine
internationally-sourced judges. In 2013 POPCAP received 360 submissions from 57 countries that
were judged by 14 judges. 2014 sees piclet.org offering the prize for contemporary African photography for the third time.
