Hettich is still a privately owned family business now in its fourth generation. We have only ever traded from our premises at 1 King Street. Tony Chinn, our chairman, was the first Jersey man to be awarded the FGA (Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain) in 1954. Jeffrey Chinn followed in his fathers footsteps and was awarded the FGA in 1984. We have very highly trained and loyal staff who between them can boast over 200 years service and hold numerous professional jewellery and watchmaking qualifications. Tim Booley is a qualified valuer and we are able to undertake valuations for both insurance and probate. We have been official agents for Rolex watches for over 50 years. We are sole agents in the Channel Islands for Patek Philippe, Chopard, Baume et Mercier and we are sole agents in Jersey for Cartier. Our building was the first in St Helier to have electric lighting. We continued to trade during the German occupation, when liberation came in 1945 the sole stock consisted of two hat pins! In earlier times we were radio repairers and opticians, we even used to fit glass eyes!
