Yesterday, I discovered another perfect place to have my morning coffee. From there, I

watched
the sun rise over the pristine Western Reserve. My daily rituals are important,

d e na well-designed backdrop. Later, I challenged my friends to outmaneuver

me on the golf course. The idyllic landscape, both natural and built, distracted them
while I pondered my destiny par excellence. After a leisurely lunch and thoughtful
discourse,
I studied boundless cloud formations on my stroll to the spa. Upon arrival,

I retreated to the sanctuary of my private spa suite, and then time waited for me.

A few hours later, I emerged with a greater sense of balance and
new appreciation for the term “well-being,” a slightly peculiar
concept until then. As I looked to the skies for my old friends, I
noticed the poetic symmetry of a dormer peaking above the trees.
It formed at h
perfect
i n k triangle, and I pondered the magical view
from that window. I’ll have to explore that someday, but at that
moment I hungered for another glorious, made-from-scratch
dinner at the elegant red barn. Try as I may, I never seem to
clean my plate, but the possibility of leftovers excited me beyond
measure. After all, good things should be savored for a lifetime.
As night fell, the whip-poor-wills began their serenade, and I was
persuaded to take a candlelight soak in a tub as deep as my soul.
Before long, the luxurious linens beckoned me to bed, and I
fell asleep with an amazing novel on my chest and my favorite

person by my side. I had many dreams last night, but one was
very memorable. A peaceful and humble man with a wise face
approached me and asked me to go for a walk. We wandered
through glass hallways and into the library bar for a fireside
nightcap. Afterwards, we walked outside past the old silo and
convinced a couple of beautiful horses to give us a ride. As
Romeo and Libby stopped for a drink at the lake, the full moon
reflected over its velvet surface. I heard a couple laughing
nonchalantly and turned to see a faint light in the window of
a home as nestled in nature as I had been earlier in my bed.
I finally turned to my travel guide and asked him, “By the way,
who are you, and where are we now?” He chuckled as if he
knew an inside joke and replied, “They called me Henry in my
day, and this, my friend, is your Walden.”

suite. A 1,500-square-foot private haven, this suite includes

second-floor retreat. The dramatic architecture of these

GOLF MEMBERSHIP
Golf members and their immediate families are entitled to
use all Club facilities without paying greens fees, but may pay
other fees established by the Club. Golf members may have
use of the Club facilities and other privileges including, but not

Located at the Inn, our striking Blue Ribbon Café, whose chic,

Winding through mature trees, streams and lakes, Walden’s
pristine golf course offers vistas that enhance the golfing
experience. One of Ohio’s most prestigious courses, Walden is
a par 72 stretching to 7,203 yards, with a 138 slope and a 75.0
rating. It was redesigned and renovated by Craig Schreiner in
the fall of 2001.

Club members and their immediate families are permitted to
use the fitness center, outdoor swimming pool, locker rooms,

BARN
Walden’s signature gourmet dining room, set in an elegantly
restored 175-year-old barn, is unforgettable. Here you can
enjoy a vast array of imaginative appetizers and entrées
enhanced by an extensive wine list and spectacular desserts.
You’ll love the atmosphere of warmth, nostalgia, and romance
in our distinguished old barn. Jackets are required for gentlemen. Dinner is served at the Barn Tuesday through Thursday
evenings from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday
evenings from 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm.
CLUBHOUSE
Overlooking the golf course, Club Walden offers a relaxed
and comfortable atmosphere and specializes in grilled steaks
and the freshest in delectable seafood. Attire is smart
casual. The Clubhouse is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday
through Sunday.
Lunch and Dinner is served at the Club Tuesday through
Sunday from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm during April – December.
Outdoor Dining is available at both the Bogey Bar and on the
Deck of the Clubhouse.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Walden’s large swimming pool is designed for the
entire family. Children can play safely in a shallow
area with a beach entry, and several fountains offer
the irresistible joys of soaking and splashing. Adults
can relax in a resort-style lounge area, or work out
in our lap lane.
EQUESTRIAN CENTER

Walden is a wonderful setting for trail rides, and an
exciting way to tour our woodlands and pastures is
on horseback. On the trail, you will be accompanied
by a trail boss to guide you and to offer assistance if
you need it. To make the most of your ride, our staff
will evaluate your equestrian skills in our indoor or
outdoor arena before you mount up. Arrangements
can be made through guest services. Rides can
be booked at $75 per person, per hour, but may be
canceled in bad weather.

Due to our size we have a strict cancellation policy.
All room reservations will be subject to a full evening
rate deposit to be charged at the time of booking.
This deposit may be charged to a major credit card
and is equal to the total evening rate for the stay. Any
reservation canceled within 10 days prior to arrival
will forfeit the deposit.

Children under seven years of age may stay in their
parent’s room free of charge. A child or third guest
staying in a suite and/or requiring an air mattress will
be charged $70 per person, per night. This standard
room charge covers meals and the air mattress.

Rates and packages are nightly, based on double
occupancy, excluding taxes and service charges, and
are subject to change. Alternate rates may apply for
holidays. Walden requires a deposit of the full evening
rate. Deposits can be made with a major credit card.
Please note that all daily rates are exclusive of tax,
service charges and incidentals. Sales tax (6.75%) and
occupancy tax (6%) will be added to your nightly rate.
Rooms are available for check-in at 4:00 p.m.
Departure is at 12 noon. While we make every attempt
to accommodate early arrivals, we cannot guarantee
room availability before 4:00 p.m. However, we can
store your luggage in the event of early arrival or
late departure. Inn Walden is a non-smoking facility.

Pick your own partner for round-robin match play. This
is a great opportunity to play nine holes with two different

This is the Club’s premier three-day member/guest event
and the ultimate golf and social experience of the year. The
tournament offers great competition, elegant awards, favors,

PRACTICE FACILITIES
Walden offers a great opportunity for game improvement.
You can practice your full swings on the driving range,
improve your putting touch on any of the three practice
putting greens, and hone your short-game skills on our short
range, which features chipping, bunker, and 100-yards and
closer. Or you can relax in a rocking chair while being served
a cocktail at the back of the driving range and contemplate
what to enjoy next at Walden.

For those members who live in Walden, the convenience of

SWIMMING FOR ALL CHILDREN
Our Walden families take advantage of a great opportunity
to educate their children in water safety with a variety of
swim lessons offered by the Club. Introductory to advanced
group lessons are available. Then, children who really love
swimming, graduate and become part of The Walden Swim
Team. These swimmers work hard all summer training for
swim meets at Walden and away. They love the competition
and personal advancement of the sport.

Children enjoy the game of tennis from ages 4–5 in our Tots’
Tennis program, where they learn to develop motor skills,

learn proper stroke technique and footwork fundamentals
while having fun on the court. Level II is for ages 10–13, with

CAMP WALDEN
Walden kids ages 5–9 have fun in our six-week summer
program meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays from
11am – 2pm. They enjoy arts and crafts activities with
different themes each week. Lunch is provided at the Outdoor
Grille, with free time and supervised swimming to follow.
Kids have fun and Mom can take a break to exercise, stop
by the Spa for a service, or work on her tennis or golf game.
JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAM
There are two great golf programs available to juniors. For
young golfers ages 6–9, the Pee Wee program is consists of
clinics that cover full swing, chipping, and putting. On-course
experience is limited to a few holes of Scramble on some
occasions toward the end of clinics. For juniors ages 10–16,
the Advanced Junior program consists of clinics and play days
designed to develop basic fundamentals of the golf swing and
a basic knowledge of the rules and etiquette of the game.
CLUBHOUSE
Overlooking the golf course, the Walden Clubhouse offers a
relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Our specialties are
grilled steaks and the freshest in delectable seafood. Attire
is smart casual. The Clubhouse is open for lunch and dinner
Tuesday through Sunday. Outdoor dining is available at both
the Bogey Bar and on the deck of the Clubhouse.
BOGEY BAR & AL FRESCO DINING
Warm up at the intimate fireplace and lounge while enjoying
libations and spirits and great conversation with fellow

The Club has established an advisory board to serve as a
liaison between the members of the Club and its management.
The advisory board is made up of elected men and women of
the membership who meet from time to time with the Club

WHAT TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP DOES CLUB WALDEN OFFER ?
The Club currently offers three classifications of membership:

Dining members and their immediate families are permitted
to use the dining facilities at the clubhouse, Barn dining room,
café, theatre, meeting rooms, inn, and spa.
HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER OF THE CLUB?
To become a member, an individual or entity must complete
a membership application and submit with entrance fee to be
approved for membership. If approved or declined for membership, the Club will notify the member accordingly. Upon
approval, the member must pay a non-refundable entrance
fee before privileges of the Club facilities begin.
HOW MANY MEMBERS WILL THE CLUB ACCEPT?
The number of members accepted is limited to a number that
assures that each member is offered both the highest standards of service and convenient access to the Club facilities.
The maximum number of memberships with golfing privileges
is limited to the capacity of the golf facilities to deliver superior service and is determined by demand and member-use

All members are welcome to upgrade their membership
classification by simply paying the appropriate difference
in entrance fees and dues based on the desired membership
classification. Should a member wish to downgrade his or her
membership classification, he or she must do so in writing to
the Club and must also continue in that classification for one
full year before returning to the previous classification; otherwise, back charges in dues will be required.

Members in good standing are entitled to allow accompanied

Our event coordinators work with you to
choose the perfect tent, tailored to suit your
taste. We provide your guests with a comfortable party atmosphere with full weather
protection. Tents are available in a variety of
sizes, colors and patterns and can be heated
or air-conditioned. Some of our favorites
include the Frame Tent, the Century Canopy,
and the Century Pole and Frame Tents. Tent
and chair rental prices are available upon

THE JODHPURS LOUNGE
Our intimate Jodhpurs Lounge is the perfect
venue for indoor receptions. It holds up to 180
standing and 100 seated guests. In conjunction with the Blue Ribbon Café, the Jodhpurs
Lounge is the ideal place to dance the night
away for any occasion. With its own entrance, the Jodhpurs Lounge remains private
from the rest of the Inn. In addition, french
doors lead to a tree-lit private patio. The decor
is stunning, from its beckoning fireplace to its
copper-topped bar. It even has a fabulous view
into the indoor equestrian arena.
THE BLUE RIBBON CAFÉ
The dramatic and vibrant decor of our Blue
Ribbon Café gives this room elegance and energy. With seating capacity of 110, this space
is perfect for sit-down luncheons or dinners.
The granite-topped, raised communal table
graciously accommodates the bridal party,
and the “wall of colors” attracts your guests
to the dance floor, where they can dance
the night away while looking out to the green
pastures and the Old Barn. (Suite 1 must be
rented when music runs past 8:00 pm.)
THE UPPER CAFÉ
Complementing the Blue Ribbon Café is the
Upper Café, both featuring spectacular views.
The café has pastures on one side and lush
green foliage on the other. This loft elegantly

MENU PRICES
There will be an applicable 20% taxable
service charge and applicable 6.75% Ohio
sales tax on all food and beverage items.
Prices shown on this menu are current for
the 2008 season. Pricing for events reserved
for the 2009 season will be subject to change
when Walden releases its menus for the 2009
season. The actual price for your menu may
change up to the time that you finalize menu
arrangements, usually about three weeks in
advance of your event.
FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS
A $2,500 deposit is required to reserve event
space at Walden. A reservation is valid for no
more than 14 business days without receipt
of the above deposit. The estimated total
balance is due 3 weeks prior to the event. Payment should be made by cash, personal check,
or major credit card.
CANCELLATIONS
Receptions cancelled less than three weeks
prior to the event date will forfeit all pre-payments. The initial $2500 deposit is non-refundable in the event of any cancellation.
GIFTS & PERSONAL ITEMS
Walden is not responsible for gifts or gift
cards brought into the facility. We suggest
that you assign a responsible person to make
sure that all your gifts and envelopes are kept
together and gathered at the close of your
event. Walden is not responsible for storage
or damage of any items that are left behind.
We are not responsible for lost or stolen
items.
CONDUCT
Walden reserves the right to approve the type
of functions held on our premises. We will
not accept certain kinds of parties that are
deemed inappropriate for the facility, due to
the size or nature of the event. Walden may
require a police detail at client’s expense on
a limited number of events. Please inquire as
to whether this applies to your event. We are
concerned for all of our guests and wish to
ensure that no event becomes disruptive.
ALCOHOL AND BEVERAGE SERVICE
Walden offers a wide range of superb choices
in both wine and beverage selections. We are
prohibited by our liquor license from allowing
any alcoholic beverages supplied by outside
sources. Walden reserves the right to control
and monitor the consumption of alcoholic
beverages and reserves the right to refuse
service, if deemed necessary.

Walden $200 an hour for a guest’s failure to
comply with the end time.
MENU PRICES
There will be an applicable 20% taxable service charge and applicable 6.75% Ohio sales
tax on all food and beverage items. Prices
shown on this menu are current for the 2008
season. Pricing for events reserved for the future will be subject to change. The actual price
for your menu may change up to the time that
you finalize menu arrangements, three weeks
in advance of your event.
A deposit is required to reserve any event.
A reservation is valid for no more than 14
business days without receipt of the deposit.
Deposits should be made by cash, personal
check, or major credit card. Acceptable deposits
consist of the total rental for the event, or
50% of the estimated food and beverage
cost. The remaining cost of the event can be
charged to a credit card, or received as cash
or check immediately following the event.

at the close of your event. Walden is not
responsible for storage or damage of any items

GUEST ROOM CHECK-IN
Our check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Should you
arrive earlier, you are welcome to store your
luggage with us until accommodations are
ready. On your day of departure, we request
you vacate your room no later than 12:00
noon. If you would like to remain on the
premises into the afternoon, we would be
happy to store your luggage.
CANCELLATIONS
If an event is cancelled up to four weeks
prior to the event 100% of the deposit will be
forfeited.
LIABILITY
A customer assumes responsibility for any
damages caused by him or her or any of their
guests, invitees, or other persons attending
the event. In providing accommodations or
rendering services under this agreement, it is
expressly agreed and understood that to the
extent permitted by the law, the hotel, its employees or agents shall not be liable for any
loss, injury or damage, to persons, property
of the customer or its invitees.

a comfortable party atmosphere with full weather protection.
Tents are available in a variety of sizes, colors, and patterns
and can be heated or air-conditioned appropriately. Some of
our favorites include the Frame Tent, the Century Canopy,

Scratch Cooking
Ohio is a wonderful state full of literally
thousands of producers of nearly every imaginable culinary treat. Since the inception of
Inn Walden our mission has been to procure
for our guests the finest indigenous, naturallyraised foods.
To that end, we have found that foods grown
and raised organically are not only environmentally friendly... but they also just taste
better! Specifically, our produce suppliers
use no insecticides or pesticides and, in most
cases, are certified organic. Meat suppliers
to Walden use free-range or grass-fed pasture
raising methods, and all the meats we serve
are free of antibiotics, growth hormones, or
added chemicals. Our fish, if not local, is certified wild from the oceans. Further, our dairy
products (milk, eggs, butter, and most of our
cheeses) come from organic producers.

TENNIS
Enjoy tennis at Walden on one of its four
Har-Tru® clay courts. Located at the Club,
these courts are perfect for long games and
are easy on the knees. Please contact guest
services for more details.
A service charge of twenty percent and
applicable state and local taxes will be added
to all food and beverage charges.
Group Activities
GOLF
Winding through mature trees, streams and
lakes, Walden’s pristine golf course offers
vistas that enhance the golfing experience. One
of Ohio’s most prestigious courses, Walden
is a par 72 stretching to 7,192 yards, with a
138 slope and a 75.0 rating. It was redesigned
and renovated by Craig Schreiner in the fall
of 2001. While Club Walden is private, the
Guest Services staff can arrange tee times for
guests of Inn Walden subject to availability
and depending on membership play. If we
are unable to accommodate a tee time at Club
Walden, our concierge staff will be happy to
make arrangements on another course nearby.
EQUESTRIAN CENTER
Walden is a wonderful setting for trail rides,
and an exciting way to tour our woodlands
and pastures is on horseback. On the trail,
you will be accompanied by a trail boss to
guide you and to offer assistance if you need
it. To make the most of your ride, our staff
will evaluate your equestrian skills in our

Savor the joy of cooking in an interactive
cooking demonstration. Let our chefs show
you the basics of a fun meal while you enjoy a
great team-building exercise. Aprons provided.
WINE TASTINGS
Let our Walden sommelier teach you to
evaluate wines like a pro. Blind tastings and
wine education are a great way to wind down
the day and build esprit de corps.
TEAM BUILDING
Walden offers a variety of team-building
exercises. Please contact your event planner
for more information.
FITNESS
Unwind and rejuvenate in our fitness center,
and keep up with your exercise routine while
you’re away. Located on the lower level of
the Inn, our exercise room is fully equipped
for an invigorating workout. Our state-ofthe-art equipment includes LifeCycle aerobic
machines, stepper, treadmill, LifeCycle bicycle,
and a multi-gym. Open 24 hours a day. Please
exercise at your own risk.
SWIMMING
Enjoy the pleasures of the water in Walden’s
large swimming pool, designed for the entire
family. Children can play safely in a shallow
area with a beach entry, and several fountains
offer the irresistible joys of soaking and
splashing. Adults can relax in a resort-style
lounge area, or work out in our lap lane.

END TIME OF EVENTS
Walden $200 an hour for a guest’s failure
to comply with the end time.
MENU PRICES
There will be an applicable 20% taxable
service charge and applicable 6.75% Ohio
sales tax on all food and beverage items.
Prices shown on this menu are current for
the 2008 season. Pricing for events reserved
for the future will be subject to change. The
actual price for your menu may change up to
the time that you finalize menu arrangements,
three weeks in advance of your event.
A deposit is required to reserve any event.
A reservation is valid for no more than
14 business days without receipt of the
above deposit. Deposits should be made by
cash, personal check, or major credit card.
Acceptable deposits consist of the total rental
for the event, or 50% of the estimated food
and beverage cost. The remaining cost of
your event can be charged to a credit card
or received as cash or check immediately
following the event.
COMPANY & PERSONAL ITEMS
Walden is not responsible for any items
brought into the facility. We suggest that
you assign a responsible person to make sure
that all your items are kept together and
gathered at the close of your event. Walden
is not responsible for storage or damage of
any items.

Charges will be incurred for adding additional
guests. A $200 deposit per suite is required
of guests booking overnight accommodations.
A refund will be made should a cancellation
notice be made more than 10 days prior
to the reservation date. No refunds will be
given for notice 10 days or less prior to the
reservation date.

CANCELLATIONS
If an event is cancelled up to four weeks
prior to the event 100% of the deposit will
be forfeited.
LIABILITY
A customer assumes responsibility for any
damages caused by him or her or any of their
guests, invitees, or other persons attending
the event. In providing accommodations or
rendering services under this agreement, it is
expressly agreed and understood that to the
extent permitted by the law, the hotel, its
employees, or agents shall not be liable for
any loss, injury, or damage to persons,
or property of the customer or its invitees.
No staples, tacks, or adhesives are allowed
on any walls or doors within the facilities.
GUEST ROOM CHECK-IN
Our check-in time is 4:00 pm. Should you
arrive earlier, you are welcome to store your
luggage with us until your accommodations
are ready. On your day of departure, we
request you vacate your room no later than
12:00 noon. If you would like to remain on
the premises into the afternoon, we would
be happy to store your luggage.
