T
here is a home for every lifestyle and every budget in
Maumelle, Arkansas.
The first homes were built in the early 1970’s around the
development of the first golf course and from that time on, Maumelle
has experienced a tremendous growth in both population and types and
styles of housing.
There are subdivisions throughout the city that offer everything
from “starter homes” for first-time buyers to luxurious living.
While the home prices and values around the nation have tumbled
in recent years, Maumelle has been far less affected than most. With
low interest rates and other incentives, now is a great time to buy a
home in Maumelle.
If single-family residential living is not your style, there are quite a
few choices for moderately-priced and luxury apartment and there is a
good selection of townhomes and condominiums for sale or rent.
One of the things that keeps people coming to Maumelle is the
quality of life.
There are over 30 miles of walking trails, a community center,
numerous neighborhood parks, two eighteen-hole championship golf
courses, wide boulevards and well-planned neighborhoods. Add to that
a low crime rates and a great school system and Maumelle is the perfect
choice for many.
When the first homes we built in Maumelle, the developer’s intent
was to build a community that offered a myriad of activities for all its
residents. That foresight has carried into today…since recreation for the

Maumelle also has two of the finest golf courses in the state. Maumelle Country Club, which
was built before any homes were located in Maumelle, is a private facility boasting a championship
18-hole layout featuring Champion Bermuda greens. The back nine at Maumelle lies on the banks
of the Arkansas River and offers golfers a beautiful vista of Pinnacle Mountain just across the River.
The club has a completely equipped pro shop, a swimming pool, tennis courts and a club house
with an outstanding restaurant. It also has facilities for meetings and special events.
The Country Club of Arkansas is a residential development with an 18-hole golf course that
is open to the public. The course meanders around several designated wetlands and offers some
spectacular views. The course has a clubhouse and pro shop. It’s fast gaining renown as one of the
fastest growing semi-private layouts in the state.
Maumelle’s close proximity to Little Rock offers even more. The Arkansas Arts Center, the
Arkansas Repertory Theater, the Arkansas Symphony all hold special events year-round. Little

offers a wide variety of entertainment, including concerts
in the Riverfront Amphitheatre on the river.
Of course, one of the biggest attractions is the
Clinton Presidential Library located adjacent to the
River Market.
For sports fans, the Arkansas Razorbacks play several
football games in Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium.
North Little Rock is home to Verizon Arena, an
18,000 seat facility that hosts major concert tours by a
variety of entertainers. It’s also the home of the Arkansas
Twisters arena football team. Baseball fans can enjoy
minor league baseball at the Arkansas Travelers’ new
Dickey-Stephens Stadium, also located in North Little
Rock.
Maumelle truly has the best of all worlds. A quiet
hometown, neighborhood lifestyle with all the amenities
you could ask for within a few minutes drive.

Pulaski County Special School District
(PCSSD), the third-largest district in Arkansas
with more than 17,000 students. There are
three elementary schools, one middle school and
one high school that serve Maumelle students.
Maumelle High School, one of the most stateof-the-art schools in Arkansas, is now in its third
year with just over 1,000 students. Maumelle Middle School, with close
to 1,000 students, is eight years old and sits adjacent to the high school.
Outfitted with the latest in technology, both schools boast a long list of
clubs and activities, sports teams and advanced placement courses.
Elementary students attend Oak Grove Elementary School, Pine
Forest Elementary School or Crystal Hill Magnet School.
Crystal Hill is a communications magnet school offering students
a themed focus of written, oral and visual communications. Because
the Maumelle area continues to grow, Pine Forest Elementary was
recently expanded. Oak Grove Elementary is well-loved for its family
atmosphere and dedication to student achievement. Enrollment across
the district, and in Maumelle specifically, continues to rise.
PCSSD’s Executive Director of Communication Deborah Roush
said families interested in their students attending a Maumelle School
may arrange a tour with the school or contact the PCSSD district office
at 501-234-2000 for registration information.

There are also many private schools in the area, including
Immaculate Heart of Mary in North Little Rock. Offering classes
K-eighth grade, the school offers small classes (13:1 teacher-student
ratio, before and after school care, music and art programs, computer
lab and web-based parent/teacher communication.
Another bright spot in education in Maumelle is the Academics
Plus Charter School started in Maumelle in 2001. APCS is a public
school operated by Pulaski Charter Schools, Inc. and its mission is
to “Provide an academically rigorous college preparatory program for
all students.” The school has a longer school day and school year to
provide students with additional instruction time and an expanded
curriculum. Graduating seniors have the opportunity to earn up to
45 college credit hours at no charge to the students by the time they
graduate from APCS. This past year students earned 207 college
credit hours by taking advantage of the extensive concurrent credit and
advanced placement program. Students need to apply to APCS prior
to February 28th to be placed in the student attendance lottery. Due to
the waiting list it is imperative to apply in a timely manner.

Nearby Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock offers more
than 40 associate degree and certificate programs of study.
If a four-year degree is what you’re seeking, there are many choices
within easy reach of Maumelle. The University of Arkansas at Little
Rock, The University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen
School of Law, The University of Arkansas for Medical
Sciences Campus, Philander Smith College, Shorter College
and Webster University are all located in Little Rock.
Conway, just to the north of Maumelle, is the
home of Central Baptist College, Hendrix College and the
University of Central Arkansas.
Maumelle is a city that thrives on neighborhoods
and family and education is a high priority for families who
locate here. With the wealth of educational opportunities
both inside and around Maumelle, it’s easy to understand

he Department of Senior Services was created by the City
in 2005 and today the Department is situated in Maumelle
Senior Wellness Center, the lower level of City Hall, located on
Lake Valencia. The department goal is to make Maumelle a city
for all ages by providing individuals the ability to age in place. The
center provides a wide range of educational, social, and recreational
activities from classes that assist with Arthritis to Wii for functional
fitness-there are opportunities for everyone! The center includes

a computer lab, media room, cardio room, community
classroom, Great Room, and commercial kitchen.
The Department of Senior Services also offers award
winning transportation services with daily shuttles
throughout Maumelle and medical shuttles throughout
Pulaski County all complimentary to Maumelle members,
aged 50+. The Center’s staff, along with outstanding
support from volunteers, strive to provide programs
and services that are ever-changing to meet the needs of

Seniors who prefer or need assisted living have
several excellent choices in and near Maumelle.
Elmcroft Assisted Living in Maumelle offers
various assisted living accommodations and is also
an Alzheimer’s Care Facility. Stonehaven Assisted
Living in Maumelle offers a variety of assisted
living plans.

he hub and home of Maumelle’s Parks & Recreation
Department is the Jess Odom Community Center
conveniently located on Edgewood Drive near the city
office complex.
The Center has a health club, two basketball courts and an
elevated walking track.
Just outside the community center is the Dowell Naylor
Aquatic Center, a beautiful swimming pool complex that offers
fun for everyone during the spring and summer.
At the community center parking lot you’ll find one of
Maumelle’s newest addition to its park programs – a skateboard
park where young people can enjoy this popular pastime.
Maumelle’s park areas include neighborhood playgrounds,
basketball courts, pavilions and 13 miles of paved walking
trails. Throughout the city, residents have access to wooded
greenbelts. Picnic tables and fishing are available at Lake
Valencia and Lake Willastein, the city’s two lakes.
Lighted tennis courts are located at Lake Valencia and are
available 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
Parks are located in these neighborhoods streets and
subdivisions: Rolling Oaks Soccer Complex, Lake Valencia,
Woodland Drive, Kings Park, Piney Cove, Turtle Park, Club
Manor, Sharondale Court, Tara Cove, Maumelle Boulevard,
Canadian Cove, Lake Willastein, Maumelle Diamond Center
Softball and Baseball Complexes.
Lake Willastein, with its amphitheatre, hosts entertainment
events all during the year. The Maumelle Family Fest is held at
Lake Willastein every spring and the event continues to grow
every year. Family Fest offers a variety of nationally known
entertainers on its stages all during the day. And, there are
games, food, carnival rides and other fun for children of all ages.

Mohr Capital LLC purchased a 500,000
square foot vacant building (previously
owned and occupied by Scholastic Inc.) and
immediately leased 200,000 square feet of
the building to Leisure Arts. In addition,
Southern Star purchased a tract of land in the
industrial park and began preparations for a
new facility. These businesses complement
existing industries like Kimberly Clark
Corporation, Molex Inc., Plastic Ingenuity,
Inc. and Mondelēz Global LLC (formerly
Kraft Co.), who continue to add jobs and
expand and renovate existing facilities.
