The Cruising systems are dedicated to 5 to 26 meters boats and offer the sailors security and strength
for a longer life.
The Racing furling systems will bring performance as well as ease of use thanks to some innovations
like the opening luff rope prefeeder. With its black and airfoil extrusion, the Racing systems have been
especially designed for the racing-cruising sailors.

Wrap stop (patented)
Prevents halyard wraps. Fixed to the top of the stay, the wrap stop eliminates the needs
for a halyard fairlead, and reduces potential halyard chafe. The wrap stop also prevents
unnecessary horizontal pressure on the top swivel, which could generate bearing fatigue.

New Luff Rope Feeder

PROFURL extrusions are made lighter and stronger by the use of special alloy (6106)
and by design incorporating longitudinal ribs offering the best strength/weight ratio of the
market.
Optimum torque resistance along the entire foil length and the total absence of play at the
junctions avoid any possibility of twist whilst reefing. The foil shape is specifically designed
for uniform rigidity aerodynamic performance and smooth even rotation.

The new luff rope feeder for a smoother and easier sail hoist by one crew member.
Manufactured from highly resistant stainless steel, the design eliminates any possible
damage to the sail. The luff rope feeder can be installed or removed without any tool.
Delivered as a standard on all models but C260 and C290.
New Opening Luff Rope Prefeeder

The first opening luff rope prefeeder of its kind is the the perfect illustration of the Wichard

By replacing head and tack shackles, this new device enables to attach the sail quickly
and to furl it perfectly without any distortion. Thanks to the captive pin, the headsail can be
easily and quickly installed. Delivered as a standard on Racing systems and an optional
extra on Cruising models.

The Ball Bearings: The Heart of the Furling System
PROFURL utilizes high strength 100 C6 carbon steel bearings to carry the loads of the sail.
These bearings are sealed in a grease bath, which has proven to be the most successful
design for reefing systems. It also provides an unequalled strength to weigth ratio. The
use of special waterproof grease and the PROFURL unique greasing process efficiently
lubricate the system for its entire life.

Resistance :
Made of high impact plastic (similar to car bumpers), the drum can withstand
tremendous impact (e.g. anchor bumps, collision...) and is resistant to UV
and corrosion.
Ease of use :
The double cage arms (PROFURL exclusivity) prevents the furling line
jumping off the drum: they allow the furling line to jump back onto the drum,
by simply pulling on the line.
Removable :
By removing the drum and the double drum guard, the headsail can be
hoisted and set as if on a racing foil.

New Removable Drum

Watertightness is achieved by the use of two double lip seals, one above and one below each
ball bearing. These seals prevent foreign bodies such as salt, sand and dust from entering
the bearing mechanism. Water is also prevented from entering the bearing system.
New Stainless Steel Locking Devices
For boats aimed at an intensive use or those used on charter catamaran, old gaffers and
those installed below the deck, PROFURL delivers specific stainless steel locking devices
instead of the standard ones.
