SYPNOSIS
As part of our responsibility to the community, FKE had organized a program in
conjunction with the school holidays last June. The program named as “Program Cuti
Sekolah Jun 2016” with the theme L.E.A.R.N. F.K.E. Way as one of FKE community service
responsibility (CSR) was held on 1st June 2016. The program involved students of Sekolah
Menengah Kebangsaan Seksyen 7 (SMKS7), Shah Alam consist of students from Form one
(F1) until Form five (F5). This program is a joint venture between FKE, UiTM Shah Alam,
PIBG (Parent-Teacher Association) of SMKS7 and co-sponsor by IEEE IMS Malaysia
Section. A total of 97 students involved in this program together with parents and PIBG of
SMKS7. This school holiday program was conducted to share the learning techniques that are
effective especially in learning science and mathematics subject. Besides that, this program
also providing efficient and effective motivation and encouragement to excel in whatever
respective fields of study to achieve academic success and excellence during secondary
school. Through this program, students are given the enthusiasm to change their attitude by
being positive, willing to learn and change in order to achieve academic success and
excellence throughout the school.
The program begins at 8 am with the registration of students and ended at 6 pm with
a photography session. The students are divided into two groups where the first group
consists of students from Form four (F4) and Form five (F5) while the second group consists
of students from Form one (F1) to Form three (F3). The morning session began with a talk
for F1 to F3 on “Learn Effective Techniques” and “Efficient way of learning mathematics”
by Dr. Mahanijah while for F4 and F5, the morning session began with a visit to three
laboratories: NET Laboratory, IRDC laboratory and High Voltage laboratory. The purpose of
the visit to the laboratories is for visibility of FKE to students in addition to attract students
towards engineering studies as their potential area in the future especially to electrical
engineering. Besides that, through this exposure and experience, this will attract their
interests and focus on the subjects related to engineering such as science, mathematics,
engineering drawings, physics and chemistry. After the lab visit, the F4 and F5 students
involved with LDK (Latihan Dalam Kumpulan) activities conducted by PM. Zulkifli and Mr.
Abdul Karimi.
While in the afternoon session, talk to all participants were held in DKC where Dr.
Huzaimy shared his experiences while engaging with and heading the Scientific Expedition
to Antarctica in February 2016. PM. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Asari had shared his talk on “Strategi
merancang masa depan: Perubahan sikap” with SMKS7 students, parents, PIBG also staff
and volunteers of FKE. Before the program ended, the principle of SMKS7, Mrs. Siti
Salmiah and Dean of FKE, Prof. Dr. Mohd Nasir had delivered their speech to the
participants. The session ended with exchanging of souvenirs from both sides. Session
photography was held before the program ends. Feedback received from SMKS7 students,
parents and PIBG of SMKS7 was very encouraging and positive. In the future, they hope that
FKE can continue organizing this kind of program that is beneficially and good inputs to the
students of SMKS7 as an annual event. Besides, it is a good opportunity for the secondary
school students to experience the university environment as part of motivation as well to
boost up their studies especially in science and mathematics subject. This kind of program is
a new thing and experience to most of the participants. Again, CONGRATULATIONS to
FKE on this noble effort.
