Hours of extensive research is undertaken by Fenix to
produce technically and historically correct carriages.
The traditional wooden wheels can be supplied on
conventional axles or with hubs incorporating taper roller
bearings. All bodywork, ironwork and forecarriages are
superbly crafted with incredible attention to detail.
All our springs are made in-house. We are fortunate
enough to have Peter Andrew, one of the country’s finest
spring makers, who will handmake each spring to suit
every carriage and driver. All the leaves are fully tapered,
pipped and slotted to achieve a product of the highest
traditional standard.
Fenix
Country Carriages
It takes as long to paint and finish a carriage as it does to
build it. With over eighteen coats of paint, an
outstanding finish is achieved. The upholstery is all
English leather (or cloth, depending on customer’s
requirements), with leather seat valances fixed with
traditional lead filled pin beading. The rubber mats have
a welted leather edge and are all removable for ease of
cleaning. The seat ironwork can be covered with leather,
all hand-stitched if required.
