Ryan Gattermeir is a second generation Lake REALTOR
who grew up in the business. After graduating from
Westminster College in 1996 and a successful career in the
Office Equipment business both as a salesperson and national

a wholesale jewelry manufacturing company called De’Nicole
Jewelers & Gemologists and De’Nicole Designs, Inc. He and his
wife, Marilyn, who owns Facial Designs Permanent Cosmetics,
relocated from North Dakota in 1988 to Lake of the Ozarks.
Keith loves working on development projects, both residential
and commercial, and enjoys landscaping and building and selling
real estate which he has done since the early 1980’s. Whether it
is creating jewelry designs, decorating homes, land development
or landscaping, selling or buying real estate, Keith’s vision and
creativity is apparent and he has a lot of fun doing it.
The family also includes two daughters, Mieka Nicole and
De’Rikki Kay, along with two dogs, Diamond and Nickolas.

Born and raised in Kansas City, Mike moved to the Lake area
in 1973 when he was hired as an Advertising Director for a large
Lake resort. Soon after, Mike met wife Angie and the two have

make one’s Lake home more secure.

As students settle into school schedules, new activities begin
and daylight hours dwindle, Master Lock reminds students and
parents to evaluate and refresh their family safety plans. Burglary
statistics show that fall and winter seasons see more home theft
occurrences than any other time of the year so now is the ideal
time to review safety practices.
“With fewer daylight hours and busier schedules, fall is a
prime time for families to update a home security and family
safety check-list,” said Rebecca Smith, vice president, marketing

top-of-mind, scheduling times throughout the year to address
specific topics such as home alone routines, children’s curfews,

Inspect to Perfect. Home improvement projects are a popular

sure that all points of entry to the home are secured, including

In an emergency, police should be able to
clearly see your home and identify your
house number from the street. Regularly
prune landscaping around your doors,
windows and entryway, and consider
installing lights above doors and near
your garage or carport. In addition, a
well-lit, easily visible home is much less
tempting to a potential burglar. Don’t
forget to double-check outdoor light
timers to adjust for the change in daylight
hours or try solar options that charge
themselves and turn on automatically.
There’s No “I” in Team…or Safety.
Engage the whole family in safety and
security planning and schedule a meeting
to review house rules, such as curfews,
lock-up procedures and what kids should
do if they’re home alone. Assigning
roles to each family member (i.e. Dad
is in charge of closing garage door every
night, John checks that the front door is
locked, etc.) is a great way to get everyone
involved, learn by doing, and share the
responsibility.

spending time in the neighborhood
with friends, make sure they always have

information with them. Add parent
or guardian names to their cell phone

backpack to help any adult reach Mom or
Dad if needed.

surrounding homeowners, encouraging
each other to keep your eyes and ears
open for anything suspicious and
arranging regular patrols to increase
neighborhood activity. In many cases,
local police departments or PTAs will
have resources to help you get started.
4. Trust your instincts. If a specific
person or place causes you to feel
uneasy, avoid the situation by
removing yourself completely, and alert
authorities if a suspicious person is
lurking in your neighborhood.
5. If a crime occurs, report it! Don’t
be afraid or embarrassed to share
with the police, family or friends if
you experience some sort of crime,
regardless of how small. Relating your
experiences can help the police or other
families ensure the incident does not
occur again.

Boats are an essential mode of transportation at the Lake
of the Ozarks. Whether you are cruising to a restaurant or
entertainment venue or participating in exhilarating water
sports, there’s a style and price for everyone. In 2013, boat
buyers will continue to look for the most value for their dollar
without sacrificing comfort and visual appeal. Manufacturers are
responding to these demands with new styles and accessories to
keep water travel exciting. Local boat dealers anticipate that 2013
will be a good year for sales as the economy begins to rebound
and buyers reenter the market. Rick Belluchi, general manager
at Yacht Club Marina, says customers are purchasing tubes,

“Consumers are looking for multipurpose boats that will meet

The 2013 Formula Crossover Bowrider is also set to turn
heads in 2013. At 35’ in length, the Crossover is one of the largest
bowriders on the market. Chad Neubauer, manager at Formula
Boats of Missouri says the large watercraft allows for more
passengers and a smoother ride on the Lake’s rough waters. It
also features double wide, forward facing seats and a queen size
cabin below the bridge deck with private bathroom for overnights.
Kelly also predicts that larger bowriders and pontoon boats will
be in demand for 2013. He says that improved performance and
aesthetics on pontoons is making them a more attractive option

accessories in large numbers. Belluchi says that Sea-Doo personal
watercraft, which is sold at Yacht Club Marina, will feature new
colors in 2013 and continue to be the only brand on the market
with an intelligent brake and reverse (iBR) system. Kyle Kelly,
manager at Kelly’s Port, also reports an uptick in sales and says he
expects more consumers to trade in their old boats for new models
in the coming year.
Bigger is better seems to be the mantra for the latest in boats.
Consumers want more space to accommodate family and friends
as well as various water activities. Walk-around boats powered
by outboards and larger swim platforms are two features that
are gaining in popularity according to Tim Schoening, owner of
TriToon Town. The open stern 2013 JC Manufacturing Limited
242 is a boat that Schoening says will get a lot of attention in the
New Year. The 24’ aluminum pontoon has a four-stroke Suzuki
engine with 150 horsepower.

big cruisers as people are looking for
something more functional,” explains
Kelly. “Pontoons used to be boxy and have
a reputation for poor performance, but
now they are becoming more stylish and
drive just as well as, or better than, some
of the fiberglass products.”
The Sea Ray 370 Venture is being
called a game changer by reviewers and
local dealers like Dave Bigge, director of
operations at MarineMax. The 37’ express
cruiser has a mid-cabin, full beam master
stateroom that can comfortably sleep
four people. The large cockpit has room
for up to six people to sit comfortably at a
table. The design is inspired by European

2013 will be a big year for new
technology that makes boating more
convenient and enjoyable. For instance,
touchscreen marine navigation and
Bluetooth technology is becoming more
prevalent and affordable for smaller boats.
Bigge says the Quiet Ride technology
offered exclusively by Sea Ray sets the

described as a method of noise, vibration
and harshness (NVH) reduction that
provides a smoother ride and maximizes

control which makes docking easier and
