2014 SPONSORSHIP OUTLINE 2 2014 SPONSORSHIP OUTLINE blackexposouth.com ABOUT US Empowering the African-American Community for Over 20 years. Thomas Media Group, LLC, publishers of the Black Pages USA directories, has successfully promoted minority business expositions for the past sixteen years. Known as the “Black Expo”, the one-day event has been held in Columbia, S.C. (seventeen years), Charleston, S.C. (fifteen years), Jacksonville, FL (thirteen years), and Upstate (four years), SC (Anderson, Greenville and Spartanburg) for (three years) attracting over 500 exhibitors and 50,000 visitors. This concept was taken from Black Expo USA which was a national event that traveled the country and no longer exists. “Black Expos” are successfully held in cities such as Chicago, New York, and Indianapolis. Black Expo is the largest event of its kind directly targeting the African-American community. OUR PURPOSE The purpose of the Black Expo is to promote economic development through increased exposure for minority-owned businesses. AfricanAmerican owned businesses have the opportunity to showcase their products and services to the public and procurement officers from major corporations and government entities. It is also an opportunity for major corporations and government entities to develop viable working relationships with minority-owned businesses while marketing their products and services to a growing consumer market. The Expo is also a forum to educate, enlighten and inspire the entire community and the African-American community in particular. Aside from economic development, exposure to cultural resources is a part of the focus for this event. INCLUDED IN THE EXPO This event is family-oriented and exposes the community to business opportunities and cultural resources. Business owners have the opportunity to secure exhibitor booths to showcase their products and services. Black Expos are enhanced by including the following: Business to Business National Recording Artists Food VendorsSeminars & Workshops Health & WellnessVendors Live Entertainment Youth Activities National Guest Speakers 3 2014 SPONSORSHIP OUTLINE blackexposouth.com OUR TEAM CONTACT INFO Darrin Thomas President Thelma Davidson Market Manager Jacksonville, Fla. The Health Pavilion allowed many of the Expo Attendees one on one time with medical professionals who could address the various health concerns that effect the African American community. The entire week of events presented several excellent opportunities for Spartanburg Regional to expand our contacts by networking with various local, state and national community leaders. There was something for everyone at the Upstate Black Expo and we look forward to continuing this most beneficial relationship. DeLisa Dawkins Gibbs Cancer Center - Community Outreach Coordinator Spartanburg Regional Hospital System “The Columbia Black Expo was the most enjoyable and rewarding event I have ever had the opportunity to work. The professionalism of the Black Expo staff and the opportunities they provided for me to reach my recruiting market were unparalleled. The Black Expo will always be an integral part of my marketing and advertising plan and it is my hope to grow the SC Army National Guard’s involvement with future events.” SFC Don Sornson SC Army National Guard Director, Marketing & Advertising “SCANA has been proud to sponsor the Black Expo in South Carolina since day one. Their concept was timely. Their staff – exceptional. And the orchestration of the event is always outstanding. They have found a unique way to showcase the diversity and value of business that our African American Community has to offer, and at the same time, we were able to gain awareness of our products and services to a growing audience of over 20,000 attendees.” Cathy Love Vice President, Marketing Communications SCANA Corporation 10 2014 SPONSORSHIP OUTLINE blackexposouth.com CHARITIES SPONSORED BLACK EXPO HAS PROUDLY SUPPORTED THE FOLLOWING CHARITIES CHARLESTON COLUMBIA 100 Black Men of Charleston Mentoring Program Avery Research Center Cannon Street YMCA Father to Father Project First Tee For Us, By Us Breast Cancer Network Jenkins Orphanage Lowcountry Food Bank Mary Ford Elementary Memminger Elementary Operation Cool Breeze Ovie Mughelli Football Camp Rescue Mission Teacher’s Supply Closet Trident Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs United Methodist Relief Center YWCA Bethel Foundation Big Brother Big Sister Black Pages USA Scholarship Fund Boy Scouts of America Columbia Jr. Academy for Golf Harvest Hope Food Bank James R.
