We are a family run business and have been making adjustable beds for
twelve years now. My name is Richard and I make all of our beds and
mattresses by hand in our Essex workshop. My wife Louise runs the retail
side of the business – The Care and Comfort Centre, located on the first
floor above our workshop.
Hopefully, you prefer to support small UK businesses rather than large
corporate companies. However, we understand this is not enough of a
reason for you to spend your money with us. After all, everybody wants
good value.
This brochure pack provides information regarding our adjustable beds, as
well as a complete mattress buying guide.

1. Custom Size
Being an adjustable bed manufacturer, our beds are custom made. So if you have an
awkward sized room, we can make you a bed that will fit perfectly.
2. Custom Height
If you have mobility issues, we can make a bed that is the perfect height for you. For
example, the same height as your wheelchair.
3. Custom Mattresses
We are able to adjust the density of mattress to suit each user/s height/s and weight/s.
This gives you the best possible comfort in the upper layer with the correct support in
the lower layer and ensures you enjoy the maximum lifespan of your mattress.
4. No hard sell
This is a very competitive industry, with large commissions being paid out to sales reps.
And believe us, we've heard some not very nice stories. If you prefer, we can visit you at
home to talk about our beds. But in all honesty, it is not something we enjoy doing often
because we do not want to risk being tarred with the same brush as the 'hard sell rep'.
Our showroom, The Care and Comfort Centre, is situated above our workshop. We have
sample beds you can try out at your own leisure, in a relaxed, no-pressure environment.
5. No Sales Reps
Unlike a lot of other bed and mattress companies, we do not employ sales reps. Our
business comes from online enquiries and word-of-mouth, so we are able to maintain
very competitive prices. We do not strive to be the cheapest, but the best value for
money.
6. Extra long Guarantee
Your bed base surround and mattress/es will be guaranteed for ten years, as opposed to
the industry standard of five years. This makes your investment even better value for
money. Electrics are guaranteed for three years, as opposed to the industry standard of
one year.
7. Luxury Upgrade
For a small addition you can upgrade the fabric on your surround to our new Impala
range. This fantastic material is stain and scratch proof, so your bed stays looking newer
for longer. This may be particularly useful if you use a wheelchair, and it's constantly
brushing against the sides of the bed. Or if you have children/grandchildren (enough
said!)

The 5-Part Standard adjustable frame is suitable for users of up to 15
stones and has a 50-watt motor and an easy to use cabled handset.

An individual neck section that offers personal support to head and
neck.

Lumbar support slides can be moved to give personal support.

(Above) is an image of our showroom 5ft Dual Deep Base Surround
(one bed base surround) built in K.D form for easy access and manoeuvring
around narrow staircases. This base is suitable for users who wish to have
separate mechanisms/frames and mattresses to suit their own individual
needs but still wish to have a divan style base surround. However, if the bed
is required for only one user, the mechanisms/frames can be linked to use as
one along with one mattress instead of two. The base surround and
headboard are upholstered in Cream Faux Suede.
(Above) is an image of a 3ft Single Deep Base Surround built in K.D form.
This particular base has a foot-end drawer. However, drawers can also be
positioned at the centre-side or foot-end side. A single base can have up to
two drawers. The bed base surround, headboard and drawer are upholstered
in Brown Faux Suede.

Our beds are built to approximately 24 inches from floor to Mattress
top. However for a small charge of £50 we are able to build your bed to a
finished height of your choice.
If you are unsure of how to choose the correct finished height of your bed,
as a guide, we would advise that you sit on the side of your bed and if your
thighs/knees are pointing downwards rather than upwards, this would be a
suitable height. If your thighs/knees are pointing upwards, when you stand
up, you will put additional strain on your back.
We have a selection of woodgrains to choose from. The most popular are:
‘Winchester Oak’, ‘Westminster Oak’, ‘Maple’, ‘Ivory Ash’, and ‘Beech’,

Lifting Mechanism
Our Lifter Beds are useful for carers that need to turn the user in bed. They can
also be useful in helping the user to stand up out of bed whilst sitting on the
edge of the bed as it raises the user to a standing position.
The maximum height from floor to mattress top when raised is 39 inches
(99cm).
The minimum height from floor to mattress top when lowered is 24 inches
(61cm).
Grab Rail and Cot Sides
We also supply grab rails and cot sides as optional extras. Grab rail (left hand
image as above). Cot side (right hand image as above). They are both designed
to use with adjustable beds.
Handsets
Handsets are available in either infra-red or cabled. We understand the
appeal of wireless handsets, but in our opinion, the best adjustable bed
will have a cabled handset.
This is because the infra-red units run on 9 volt batteries, as
do the receivers underneath the bed. Therefore, you run the
risk of the batteries running out at an inconvenient time.
Also, if you are visually impaired you may require a white
handset with black buttons to make it easier to operate the
unit.
Or, if you have a condition like arthritis in your hands, you will
probably benefit from a handset with larger-sized buttons.

Why our Drawers are on Castors
In a quality bed, the drawers should be fixed to castors. Drawers manufactured this way,
will be able to hold a much greater weight as they are supported from underneath, not
on the sides.
No scuffed Walls
Our beds are manufactured in KD Form. This is an
extremely useful feature because it enables your bed
to be carried around tight staircases, landings and
tight corners.
The majority of beds from mainstream stores are
delivered all in one piece, which can cause many problems if
you live in an older property, cottage, apartment etc.
Also, you will not have to worry about scuffed paint
or wallpaper, as our disassembled beds are very easy
to manoeuvre. You can choose whether to assemble
the bed yourself or we can do it for you (subject to
delivery location).
Memory Foam Mattresses
The ‘Ultimate Sleeper’ range of memory foam mattresses are designed to reduce
pressure and provide the ideal restful environment.
Our ‘Ultima 55kg’ mattress offers a soft to medium support, with a 55kg density
memory foam upper layer. (Ideal for up to 15 stones).
Our ‘Ultima 75kg’ mattress offers a medium to firm support, with a 75kg density
memory foam upper layer. (Ideal for over 15 stones).
Our ‘Ultralux’ mattress offers a medium to firm support, with a combined 75kg
density and ‘supersoft’ memory foam upper layer. ‘Supersoft’ offers additional
Luxurious Comfort but does not alter the medium to firm support. (Ideal for up
to 22 stones).

Latex Mattress
Durability
Vita Talalay® is a superior, resilient rubber latex that offers comfort and
durability for top quality mattresses. Vita Talalay® is flexible and luxurious and
is a resilient rubber.
Breathable
The open cell structure of Vita Talalay® manages your body heat while you
sleep. The superb ventilation of Vita Talalay® latex helps body heat evaporate
more easily and keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer.
Our Latex Mattresses are made with 5cm of Vita Talalay® upper layer and can
be made with either a soft to medium support for user/s up to 15 stones or a
medium to firm support for user/s of over 15 stones lower layer load bearing
foam.

100% polyester knitted two way stretch
cover.
Memory foam shapes itself to the contours of your body to provide optimum
support. But if you prefer the feel of a sprung mattress (without the springs),
Latex would be a good alternative. It offers a similar level of support to memory
foam, with the feel of a sprung mattress.

The Benefits of an Adjustable Bed Massage
An adjustable bed massage unit gives you the best possible chance of an
energising, rejuvenating and uninterrupted night's sleep.
Massage is known to have so many physical and emotional benefits, like
soothing lower back pain and other aches, or relieving tension and stress.
But having a massage can be expensive, and you may not feel totally
comfortable with a stranger performing a massage on you. This is where an
adjustable bed massage unit is an ideal solution for you.
Although a massage from a machine will not ever replace one from a trained
masseur, it will provide a relaxing and soothing experience in the comfort of
your own bed.
The pads are fitted in between the foam layers, and is better because:
1. It has five separate massage points that can be strategically placed to
provide comfort to:

hips and thighs
legs and feet
2. The simple to use handset gives you a choice of wave or pulse settings;
3. You can adjust the speed and intensity of each massage point individually;

"Fantastic Beds and Service from Abberley Adjustable Beds"
We have just had our bed delivered and I cannot speak highly enough of the service and delivery we received.
We went along to the show rooms and was attended to by Richard who gave us all the time we wished to decide
what we wanted, being that my husband has Parkinsons these beds are Fantastic and it has made things a lot
easier for us, we ordered a double bed with the two mattresses, we were told they would take approx 3 weeks
and 3 weeks to the day they were delivered to us, they were assembled at home which took about half an hour,
we are so pleased with the price and the service and we know that we would not have gotten that anywhere else.
I have already told some friends about the product and service and they have said they are certainly interested,
so hopefully they will follow it up.
So thank you Richard and Louise for everything and I give you 10 out of 10.

Review of Abberley Adjustable Bed
We decided on using Abberley after paying a visit to thier showroom in Essex and meeting Richard and Louise.
They were very helpful and informative and thier product was perfect for our needs. Within 5 weeks we had a
nice new fully adjustable bed with memory foam mattress delivered and setup in our bungalow. After all the deliberating we endured, we are very pleased we decided to go with these people. We would highly recommend
Abberley to anyone of our family and friends without hesitation and if you are fortunate to be fairly local to Essex,
we would suggest that you pay a visit to thier showroom to be guided through thier products they have to offer.
