RIVER CITY REALTOR® by Char Glocke, Association Executive What a beautiful fall day today! The leaves are turning colors and the weather is getting a bit chilly. Enjoy as winter is just around the corner! Our Annual Meeting was very special. Another year has passed and Dave Snyder was installed as our 2017 President. Check out the photos on the front and back pages capturing the event. WI License Renewal is fast approaching. All WI CE must be completed by December 14, 2016 and your license renewed. Have you completed your CE? Call the Association Office to sign up for the Video courses if you are still in need of credits. Classes are filling up fast. All dues statements for 2017, both REALTOR® and Affiliate Membership have either been mailed or personally delivered to your office. The magic date to renew without penalty is December 1 at 5:00 p.m. Thanks to everyone who has already renewed their membership. Kristal, Ryan and I want to thank Chuck Olson for all his support, leadership and time that he has given to us and to our Association. Thanks, Chuck. Pumpkin Day is rapidly approaching. Enjoy! Have a great month! Please Use Correct Address When Submitting Profile Sheets We have contracts and profile sheets that are submitted to the MLS for entry that do not have the correct or complete address of the property for sale. Do you verify the address with WIREdata information prior to submitting your listing? When the address is wrong or incomplete, searches and various programs in flex will not pull the complete data that a member is looking for. For example: If a listing in Wiredata is “301 S Main St” and you enter it as “301 S Main” or any other variation, the files in the search result of various flex programs will not connect the two. Please enter the correct and complete address on your contracts and profile sheets as it is in WIREdata. A database that contains correct and complete data benefits everyone and makes it easier to find the data that you are searching for. It is a win, win for everyone. Failure to complete the required ethics training is considered a violation of Membership duty for which the REALTOR® must be suspended until the required training is complete, pursuant to NAR policy. This suspension includes not only local services, including MLS, but also access to all WRA and NAR Member services, such as the Legal Hotline or Zipforms. If you have completed the new member Code of Ethics online course during the period of January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2016, we have noted that in your membership record. In addition if you attended Course 4 of a WRA CE class sponsored by LARA in 2015-2016, you have completed this requirement and we have also noted this in your membership record. 3 We Need Volunteers! Each Thursday evening , the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse serve a dinner for their members and families at the Mathy Center. We are partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater La Crosse and sponsoring two evenings this year. The Association will pay for the dinner but in addition, we need 6-10 volunteers each evening to serve the meals. The dates our Association has committed to are October 13 and November 10. As you call and volunteer, we will keep a running list of all who wish to help on these evenings. As the events get closer, I will have more details to share with you. “REALTORS® DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY!” Other sources have claimed in the past that their CE satisfies this requirement. Please confirm that your provider has received approval from NAR. NAR’s Information Central it’s for you 1-800 NAR offers a free online ethics course that satisfies this requirement. You will need your NRDS number when logging on the site. Go to www. larawebsite.com and click on the “NAR Code of Ethics Course” button. Call Kristal if you need help logging in. Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour. This is also a good time to check and reset the clock on your fax machine as well. Just bought a new entertainment system? A bunch of empty boxes out on the curb triggers an alarm to would-be thieves. Instead of putting boxes out in plain sight, cut them down, and stuff them in trash bags. KIM and Daylight Savings Time On November 6, Daylight Savings Time will end, and we will all be setting our clocks back one hour. How does this affect the Supra Lockbox system? The Supra Lockboxes are set to open during the hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. during Standard Time. If you need to access the keys at any time outside of those hours, the lockbox can be set for 24-hour access using these simple instructions: Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Step 4: Step 5: Step 6: You need the shackle release code for the lockbox. Push the enter button to turn your key on. Scroll down to programming, push enter. Push 2 for 24-hour access. Enter your shackle code, push enter. Insert your DisplayKey into the lockbox. The DisplayKey will say successful. The box is now set for 24-hour access. To return to timed access, repeat the procedure, only in Step 4, push 1 for timed access. If the box you are accessing does not belong to you, you must contact the listing agent to request that the box be set to 24-hour access. This is done at the discretion of each broker. Agree on an office distress code Create a voice distress code, a secret word or phrase that is not commonly used but can be worked into any conversation for cases where you feel that you are in danger. Use this if the person you are with can overhear the conversation, but you don’t want to alarm them. Example: “Hi, this is Jennifer. I’m with Mr. Henderson at the Elm Street listing. Could you e-mail me the RED FILE?” Shop online safely When shopping online, check out a Web site before entering your credit card number or other personal information.
