A Bimonthly Review of the Mitsubishi Companies and Their People Around the World
Started in 1990, the Mitsubishi Asian Children’s Enikki Festa is a program that seeks
to promote literacy education and to stimulate cultural exchange among children by
allowing them to learn about each other through “enikki” (illustrated diaries).

be featuring some Enikki essays from the 2010-2011 (10th) and 2012-2013 (11th) editions of the Mitsubishi
Asian Children’s Enikki Festa which give a sense of the national character and regional characteristics of the

We sometimes take our elephants to the public square and
show off their skills to tourists. Our elephants can draw
pictures. We train them so that they can draw pictures well.
This activity attracts tourists to our village. So we protect
the elephants. That has earned our village the title of
“elephant-protection center.”
In Thailand elephants are protected in extensive nature reserves, and there
are many elephant camps where tourists can watch elephant shows, ride
on their necks, or accompany them along nature trails as they go for their daily
walk. The elephants at the Maesa Elephant Camp in the Mae Rim District
in northern Thailand are famous for their picture painting. While they are
known as being an intelligent animal, it is still unknown whether elephants
are able to distinguish colors or whether they have a true artistic sense.

o mark the 50th anniversary of the magazine’s launch, in
November 2015 the Mitsubishi internal PR magazine The
Monthly Mitsubishi covered the activities of Mitsubishi
Group companies in Singapore on that nation’s
50th anniversary. The Monthly Mitsubishi
is published nearly every month and the
November 2015 magazine marked the 600th
issue. This issue is the first time the magazine
has gathered news at Mitsubishi companies based outside Japan, and over 20 Mitsubishi Public Affairs
Committee-member companies with bases in Singapore took part. The group interview was attended by
staff members from Mitsubishi Group companies in Singapore who took part in a lively exchange of
information on Singapore’s culture, as well as their own jobs and lives in that country. Many Mitsubishi
Group companies have made Singapore the headquarters for their business operations in Asian countries
as well as a hub for expanding business worldwide.
