The history of sport in Bielsko-Biała has more than one hundred years. This period was the time of many great successes and spectacular triumphs of players associated with our city, it is enough to mention achievements of great boxers- Zbigniew Pietrzykowski and Marian Kasprzyk. We do not base only on memories. We have ambitions to play an important role on the sports map of Poland. Therefore, we allocate enormous financial means for development of sports infrastructure and supporting talented athletes in Bielsko-Biała. It is a great satisfaction that the European Shotokan Karate-Do Association granted the sports club in Bielsko-Biała right to organize the European Championships in this discipline. We are pleased to host in our city the best athletes from the whole Europe. I am convinced that the competition in all categories will be fierce and all karate fans gathered in the new sports arena will be spectators of many exciting fights. I wish all competitors the results meeting their expectations, trainers and activists – the satisfactions from their pupils’ performance, and fans – many sports emotions.
