Derrick Hayes
Native Detroiter with diverse talents as a
singer, actor and producer. Derrick has shared
the stage with such great performers as, The
Enchantments, The Dramatics, The
Manhattans, Al Hudson and One Way, Run
DMC, and also performed back up vocals for
Phillipe' Wynn, former lead singer of the
Spinners. Derrick is currently Co-Producer for
Sounds of the Motor City and Hits City
Productions.
Kristi Sallie
Kristi Sallie was the first black cheerleader in Grandville Michigan
history in 1980. She went on to earn her varsity letter in cheerleading at Ottawa
Hills High School, the Athletic Pin at Grand Rapids Community College and her
varsity letter at Central Michigan University.
In 1989 Kristi Sallie and Tom Rubens started the Grand Rapids
Hoops Cheerleading Team. Kristi danced in numerous events around the city
including Camille’s Hair Salon’s Fashion Shows in 1992 and 1993, the National
Baptist Convention in 1997, and. Kristi was offered a faculty position at the
Gospel Music Workshop of America in 1997.
Kristi danced in Sacred Works of Duke Ellington in February in
1998. Due to car accident in March 1998 Kristi dance career slowed. Kristi was
advised to try to rehabilitate through staying active therefore she accepted the
position at GMWA and taught in 1998 at the Philadelphia Convention. Kristi’s
efforts to rehabilitate failed and has had seven ankle surgeries since the accident.
Kristi’s dance career has been ultimately stifled as a result of this. Kristi still
retains her faculty status with the Gospel Music Workshop of America although
she is inactive.
Mona and Kristi Sallie along with their parents Ann and Clyde
Sallie founded First Fruits Productions where she Co-Produced Mona’s Sallie’s
First Fruits He Israel. Kristi also did the graphic designed for the CD as well.
Kristi is currently Co-founder of Sounds of the Motor City and Hits City
Productions.
They were hired by Michele Rundgren, the wife of the well-known
singer songwriter Todd Rundgren, to organize a coral singing group to sing back
up on the Todd Rundgren, Todd/ Healing concert at the Frauenthal Theater in
Muskegon, Michigan, September 8, 2010.
As the Sounds of the Motor City they have also opened for The
Floaters, Angela Winbush, and sang backup for Christopher Williams.
John Hamilton
John Hamilton
A native of Michigan, John Hamilton has been on his musical
journey since the age of thirteen. He captured his real first
experience by starting out with high school drama, karaoke
contest and a variety show in Las Vegas. John has other
talents as well as singing. He is a skillful lyricist and a self
taught arranger/producer. In his hometown of Michigan John
has established a wonderful reputation locally performing
with bands such as Jazz Werks, Just Us Band and Mona
Sallie and The Sounds Of The Motor City.
John Hamilton in his music journey has been an opening act,
for, Slave, Midnight Star, and Cameo, and with Sounds of the
Motor City he opened for, The Floaters, and Angela
Winbush. This talented artist sung as a backup vocalist for
Todd Rundgren, Christopher Williams, Bobby Rufin of Ben E
King’s Drifters and Bobby Hendricks of Clyde McPhatters
Drifters. Having a wide variety of music greats as an
influence and inspiration, John has created music projects
that’s a style none other than his own. Prepare to unwind

To whom it may concern,
I am the owner of Louis Benton Steakhouse,
located in downtown Grand Rapids Michigan.
Sounds Of The Motor City performed for
several years in our upscale white tablecloth
lounge. We generally would rotate
entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays, but
only one group had a long term contractSounds Of The Motor City. We found that
Sounds consistently held our large weekend
bar patrons, and our sales were excellent
during and after their sets. The group is
defiantly professional and very dependable. I
would welcome any calls regarding Sounds,
and would engage them in the future without
hesitation.
