PresentaTIOn
“It all began in the early twentieth
century in a small sawmill in Portanxil
(A Coruña).”
Factory of the group located in Padron (A Coruña) in 1946
Innovative by tradition
Finsa is the oldest chipboard and
MDF manufacturer in the Iberian
Peninsula. The company, founded
in 1931 as a small sawmill, has
maintained a sustained growth since
that time up to now. Currently, Finsa
manufactures a wide variety of woodderived products.
During the last years, Finsa has
concentrated its investments in the
modernisation of its plants and in the
development of new value-added
products: melamine faced chipboards

and MDF, wood veneer, plywood,
mouldings, kitchen cabinets, furniture
components, laminate flooring, etc.
Thanks to all this, Finsa is today an
international referent in the wood
sector.
Endorsed by our enthusiasm and our
wide experience in the development
of wood-derived products, we would
like to share with you the benefits of
using engineered wood boards in
your projects and to participate in our
stake for the future of this material.

CUSTOMERS
Hórreo. (From lat. horreum).
Isolated wooden or stone construction,
with rectangular or square shape,
supported by columns, which is
characteristical of the North-West
area of the Iberian Peninsula. It is used
to store grain or farming products.
(Translation of the definition from the
Real Academia Española).
Our objective:
to involve everyone in continuous improvement.
We have developed our own Management Model with a basic objective:
achieving the involvement of all our workers in the daily management of the
Company.
This ambitious project, which gives priority to team work, is organised around
the little improvements each worker can provide every day to build the Company
in which she or he would like to work.
Our Management Model tackles all the issues related to our productive
process, bearing in mind our suppliers and the needs of our customers. Its
six fundamental pillars are the following: Prevention, Quality, Cost, Service,
Innovation and Motivation.
The “hórreo” represents for us the essence of this authentic commitment to
improve and generate value.
In the day-to-day activity of the company, this Model pursues the identification
and removal of those operations that do not generate value.
The principles of this philosophy of work are embodied in the establishment
of standards which are easily understood and applied by all of us, which
allow the transmission of knowledge and the implementation of systematic
processes that offer the best result possible at every moment. The fulfilling of
the procedures adopted is guaranteed through daily audits.

VALUES
HUMAN RESOURCES
“ Our business identity is
based on two fundamental
principles: mutual respect
and effective effort.”
OUR VALUES
These are fundamental pillars of the
company. They establish our character and identity. In Finsa, we are firmly
convinced that our business culture
must guide all our day-to-day actions.
We aim to achieve a corporate culture
based on shared values.
These
values will stem from two fundamental
principles:
Mutual respect
Productive effort
10
10
“This is the principle which will spark
from others the best possible reaction. It is our aim that inter-personal
relationships should be governed
by :”
“This is vital in order to guarantee the
sustainable generation of resources,
which will, in turn, assure us the
freedom and capacity to create the
kind of company we want to work in.
We need to face up tasks with”:

Human Resources
Experience and professional
development
From its inception, FINSA has based its activity on a
fundamental principle: human resources in constant
evolution, closely identified with the objectives of the
company. Its Human Resources policy guarantees
the cohesion of the group, fair and equal treatment,
professional development and adequate working
conditions.
Prevention:
an absolute priority
The Prevention of Risks at Work is
an absolute priority for the company,
For this reason, we have promoted,
with the participation of all the
company’s levels, the integration of
Prevention in the daily work. Having
zero accidents is a permanent
objective of the company. We
have so reflected in our Prevention
mascot, Zero, which reminds us
daily of the need of fulfilling it.
Social Responsibility
FINSA is committed to sustainable
growth, which extends over the limits
of our factories.
We obtain our main raw material from
Nature, timber, and our duty is to
respect and protect it.
We develop different actions in
collaboration with other private and
public associations, which promote
the protection and the efficient
management of forests.
The development of the areas near
our factories and of the people
living there is another of our daily
commitments.

Timber is much more than raw material,
it is the essence of our industry.
A completely sustainable material which
helps prevent climate change and
which offers matchless constructive
and decorative possibilities.
Therefore, we are aware of our
responsibility as regards its preservation.
If we want to offer the highest level of
quality, we need prime raw material. But
is is our duty to guarantee development
based in the renovation of resources and
in the protection of the environment.
For this reason, we actively promote
the use of timber from PEFC and FSC
forests (the certifications that guarantee
sustainable forest management). On
the other hand, over 60% of the wood
used in the manufacture of our products
comes from recycled raw material,
sawmill waste products, sawdust, wood
shavings, and other remains from the
cleaning of forests, etc.
Environment
RAW MATERIALand the ENVIRONMENT
“More than 60 percent of the
wood used in our process
comes from recycled raw
materials”
Environment
Through our Environmental Policy, we are actively committed to the protection
of the environment. We want our manufacturing processes to have the lesser
environmental impact possible.
In this sense, we are one of the cleanest companies: we generate more energy
than the one we waste for the processing of our products.
All our manufacturing processes are optimised so that we achieve maximum
energy saving by cogeneration (exploitation of the heat and energy produced by
the own factory) and minimum waste production.
Besides, the waste materials generated by our activity as well as recycled materials
from other industries are used to create energy through our biomass factories.

PRODUCT
The wood-derived products are
carbon stores. They have an
important role in the increase of
the efficiency of forests. On the
one hand, they enlarge the period
in which CO2 is stored before
being freed to the atmosphere
again, and, on the other hand,
they promote the growth and

InnovaTiNn AND QUALITY
“Innovation is the best way
to adapt ourselves to the
needs of our customers
and to create value.”
Adaptability
The ability to innovate is one of
the key competitive and significant
features of a more and more
demanding market.
From its inception, Finsa has always
faced changes with an open and
innovative spirit.
Thank to this, one of our identity
symbols today is, without doubt,
our adaptability and our will to offer
solutions that fulfill our customers’
expectations.
From this premise, the company
pledges future commitment to
innovate as a way to generate value.
Thus, our global innovation policy has
a double facet:
• Improvement of the production
processes: in order to optimise the
resources and to offer standardised
productive processes which can
guarantee the best results.
• Improvement of our products: in
order to answer the needs of our
customers and to offer more added
value.

InnovaTiOn AND DESIGN
In Finsa, we understand innovation
as a global challenge which affects
all the dimensions of the product.
Its technical and physical properties
are, without doubt, fundamental,
but there is another key issue that
makes us different: design. Indeed,
our natural wood veneers and our
melamine faced boards offer a wide
and balanced range which may suit
any type of project, from the most
traditional to the most avant-garde
one.
In this sense, our philosophy as
regards design has two essential
axis: closeness to the market
and pursuit of global tendencies
that affect the furniture and the
interior design sectors. We have at our
disposal a specialised department in
the development of designs: our coolhunters. This team of professionals is in
charge of directly contacting customers,
suppliers, architects, designers, and of
noticing current tendencies to reflect
them in decorative solutions.
