2.1 Safety Instructions and Precautions
1. MAINS SUPPLY
5. CLEANING
Operate the Set-Top Box only with the type of power
source indicated on the marking label. Disconnect
the product from the mains before you start any
maintenance or installation procedures. Power supply
provided within the package has the following
characteristics:
• Input: 100/240 V AC 50/60 Hz 0,6A max

• Output: 12 V DC, 1.5 A MAX
2. OPERATING CONDITIONS
Use the Set-Top Box under the following environmental
conditions:
Disconnect the Set-Top Box from the wall outlet before
cleaning. Use a light damp cloth (no solvents) to dust it.
Periodically clean rubber washers in order to keep firm
standing of the Set-Top Box on the surface.
The slots on top of the Set-Top Box must not be covered
to allow proper airflow to the unit. Do not place the
Set-Top Box on soft furnishings or carpets. Do not stack
electronic equipment on top of it.
7. CONNECTION TO THE TV-SET
• Operating Temperature: from 0 °C to 40 °C
• Operating Humidity: up to 80%
Connect all components before plugging in the power
cord on the wall outlet. Always turn off the Set-Top
Box, TV and other components before you connect or
disconnect any cables.
8. LOCATION
Warning:
This Set-Top Box has been manufactured to comply
with international safety standards. Please read the
following safety precautions carefully.
3. OVERLOADING
Do not overload a wall outlet, extension cord or
adapter as this may result in electric shock or fire.
4. LIQUIDS

The Set-Top Box should not be exposed to any liquids
such as dripping or splashing. In addition, no objects
filled with liquids (e.g. a vase), should be placed on the
apparatus.
Place the Set-Top Box indoors to avoid exposing it to
unprotected environment.
• Do not place it near a radiator or heat register.
• Make sure it has more than 10 cm clearance from any
appliances susceptible to electromagnetic influence,
such as a TV or a VCR.
• Do not block the openings on the Set-Top Box with
any object, and do not place the product on a bed,
sofa, rug, or other similar surface.
• If you place the Set-Top Box on a rack or bookcase,
ensure that there is adequate ventilation and that
you have followed the correct instructions for
mounting.

• Do not modify or process the power cord or plug
arbitrarily.
• Do not place the Set-Top Box on an unstable cart,
stand, tripod, bracket or table from where it can fall.
A falling product can cause serious injuries and the
appliance may be seriously damaged.
• Do not bend or twist the power cord.
• Make sure to disconnect the power cord by pulling
out the plug.
9. LIGHTING, STORM or NOT IN USE
• Keep heating appliances as far as possible from
the power cord in order to prevent the cover from
melting.
Unplug the Set-Top Box from the wall outlet and
disconnect the cable during a thunderstorm or when
left unattended or unused for long periods of time. This
will prevent damage to the unit due to lightning and
power-surges.
10. EXTRANEOUS OBJECTS
3. Follow these instructions. Failure to follow one of
them may cause electrical shock.
• Do not open the Set-Top Box.
Do not insert anything through the openings of the unit.
11. REPLACEMENT of PARTS
• Do not insert metals or inflammable objects inside
the Set-Top Box.
• Do not touch the power plug with wet hands.
When replacement parts are required, please referrer to
Cyta’s Call Center. Unauthorized substitution may result
in additional damage of the unit.
• Disconnect the power cord in case of lightning.
12. WARNING
1. Do not use the Set-Top Box when it is out of order.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove
cover. There are no user serviceable parts inside. Refer
to CYTA’s Call Center for service.
2. Follow these directions to prevent damage of the
power cord or plug.
4. Please do not insert metal or other substances into
the slots. Doing so can cause damage to the product
and reduce its life span.
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove

3.3 Installation
For an easy installation, the Set-Top Box has to be connected to the TV and also to the DSL Modem. The Set-Top Box can
also be connected to other devices e.g. VCR, DVD player or other Decoder. The picture below shows an example of home
network configuration. Many setups are available depending on your requirements.

3.3.1 How to connect the Set-Top Box to the DSL modem
1. Switch on the ADSL modem and check the LEDS to ascertain the connection.
2. Make sure that the synchronization LED is stable. In the following table you can see all the ADSL modems that Cyta
provides to its customers with the equivalent synchronization LED.

3. Connect the modem to the STB with the Ethernet cable provided:
• Insert the Ethernet Connector into an Ethernet port of the ADSL Modem.
• Insert the other end of Ethernet cable into Ethernet port (“ETH MODEM”) of the STB.

3.3.2 How to connect STB to TV-set
1. Connect the STB to the TV with the SCART cable:
• Insert the SCART Connector in the “SCART” port of the Set-Top-Box.
• Insert the other end of the SCART cable in the SCART port of the TV.

3.3.3 How to power on the Set-Top Box
Connect the power supply cable of the Set-Top Box to a wall outlet.

• Press the power button on the power supply unit cable.
• Switch the TV input to the one dedicated to Set-Top Box peripheral (SCART or HDMI).
• In a few minutes, after loading, you will be forwarded to Cytavision’s first channel (Preview channel).

3.4 How to reboot the Set-Top Box
In case you need to reboot the STB because it does not respond to any instructions:

• Press the “Reset” Button on the side of the STB , for 5 seconds.

• Disconnect the Set-Top Box from the power adapter. Then wait for 10 seconds before connecting it again
to the mains power outlet.
Note:
These procedures do not delete the User Service Configurations.

Insertion of the batteries
The remote control uses two AAA (LR03) batteries,
which are included in the package. Whenever you insert
batteries, always make sure both of them are new.
To insert the batteries:
1. On the back of the remote control remove the
battery compartment cover by pressing on the catch
and pulling the cover down.
2. Insert the batteries, making sure that they are properly
oriented with the positive (+) and negative (-) ends
as specified on the battery compartment labels.
3.Assemble the battery compartment cover.
CAUTION:
There is a risk of explosion if a battery is damaged
or replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used
batteries properly (see “information for the consumers
on batteries end of life” in chapter 6 - Product notes).
Do not disassemble, crush, puncture or incinerate the battery. Only discharged batteries should be disposed of. Do not short-circuit.
To navigate through the Cytavision menus the STB mode must be selected (see separate Service User Guide).
When in TV mode this Remote Control can manage the following TV functions:
• Power ON/OFF • Number keys (0- 9)
• Program (up/down)
• Volume (up/down) • Mute • AV key • OK and arrow keys
• Special function keys (red, green, yellow, blue)
4.2 Programming procedures for Remote Control to control the TV set
There are programming procedures that make it
possible to control the TV set with the STB remote
control as described in the following sections 4.2.1 and
4.2.2.
The programmed code is retained during batteries
change.
4.1 How it works
This Remote control is designed to control both the Set
Top Box and the TV and therefore works in two modes:
• Set-Top Box (STB): STB key pressed and blinks upon a
key entry when in this mode
• TV mode: TV key pressed and blinks upon a key entry
when in this mode

4.2.1 Manual Brand search
4.2.2 Auto Search
In order to manually introduce the TV code, you must
follow these steps:
1. To begin the procedure your TV must be switched on.
2. Press and hold the digits “1” and “3”
simultaneously for a minimum of 3 seconds.
If you are not able to find the proper code for a
particular brand of equipment listed, or none of the
listed codes for that brand seem to work, please
perform an auto code search of the entire code
database for that mode.
In order to introduce the TV code, you must follow
these steps:
3. After 3 seconds, the TV LED on the remote control
will turn on. Release the keys.
4. Now enter the 4-digit code for the appropriate TV
brand (please refer to APPENDIX A). When a digit is
pressed, the TV LED gives a short inverse blink and
after the fourth digit is entered, the remote checks if
the 4-digit code is valid.
5. If correct, the TV LED will do a confirmation blink
and remain switched on. If the code is not valid, the
remote control will execute an error-blink and return
to normal operation mode.
6. Then hold the Power or Mute key; after 2 seconds,
the TV LED will blink during transmission of the code. If
the TV is turned off or goes mute depending on which
button was pressed for 2 seconds, it means that the
right code was transmitted.
7. When the right code is transmitted, release the
Power or Mute button and normally the TV will be
turned off or go mute respectively to indicate that the
correct code was transmitted.
8. Press HOME and STOP key simultaneously to save
your set up after getting the correct codes.
1. To begin the procedure your TV must be switched
on.
2. Press and hold the digits “1” and “3” simultaneously for a minimum of 3 seconds.
3. After 3 seconds the TV LED of the remote control of
STB will turn on. Release the keys.
4. Now press the digits “0000” for auto search.
5. If correct, the TV LED will do a confirmation blink and
remain on.
If the code is not valid, the remote control of STB will
perform an error-blink and return to normal operation
mode.
6. Then press and hold the Power or Mute key; after 2
seconds the remote control will start auto-search. You
must keep holding the button until the TV reacts. The
TV LED will blink during transmission of the code. This
operation may take a while as the remote control is
searching through hundreds of different TV brands.
7. If you press the Power key, when finding the right
code, the TV will turn down to indicate that the correct
code is found. If you press the Mute button, when
coming across the right code, the TV will be muted to
indicate that the correct code is found. After accessing
the right code, release the Power or Mute button.

8. Press HOME and STOP key simultaneously to save
your set up.
Notes:
1. In order to control the TV you have to press the «TV»
button first and in order to control the Set-Top-Box you
have to press the «STB» button first.
2. In case the remote control is already programmed
with a TV code and you want to use it on another TV
set, you can still program it with a new code following
either the manual or the automatic procedure as
described above.
4.4 R
esetting the Remote Control to
default settings
To reset the TV mode and restore default setting of
Remote Control please use below procedure:
1. Press digits “1” and “6” simultaneously for 3
seconds. During the initial 3 seconds, the LEDs will
remain off. After 3 seconds, the TV LED will blink twice
and remain on.
2. Press digit “9”, then digit “8” and then digit “1” in
the sequence of 9->8->1.
3. If the sequence of key-presses is valid, the remote
control will delete all the settings and return to the
factory settings.
4.3 L
ocking Volume Control buttons on
Remote Control
The remote control accompanying the new Cytavision
STB offers the option of locking the volume controls
from controlling the sound on the decoder. When TV is programmed, Key “VOL+”, “VOL-”, “MUTE”
will always send TV code even in STB mode. If TV is not
programmed, these keys will send STB code in STB and
TV mode.

5 Problem resolutions

This product complies with the WEEE Directive (2002/96/EC) marking requirement. The affixed product label (see above)
indicates that you must not discard this electrical/electronic product in domestic household waste.
Instead, it is your responsibility to dispose of your waste equipment by handing it over to a designated collection point for the
recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment. For more information about where you can drop off your waste equipment
for recycling, please contact your local council office. The unlawful disposal of the product by the user may entail a fine.

SAFETY INFORMATION AND WARNING
ON THE PRODUCT
BEFORE ANY OPERATION IS PERFORMED, PLEASE READ THE OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS AND
PRECAUTIONS CAREFULLY IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE THE POSSIBILITY OF ACCIDENTS
When you use this product you must always respect basic safety measures in order to reduce risk of fire,
electric shock or injury:
• Install and configure the product in accordance with the user guide.
• Do not use the product during a lightning storm. There is a remote risk of electric shock from lightning.
Environmental conditions
The product:
• Must be used and installed indoor with a maximum ambient temperature of 40° C and a minimum temperature of 0°C
• Must not be placed near any source of heat or direct sunlight.
• Must be placed in a well-ventilated area in order to prevent overheating. Do not cover or block the air vents on the product. These are necessary for proper ventilation
• Must not be in contact with water and moisture
• Must be installed in a place with a grade 2 of environmental pollution (a place without conducting polluting agents).
Unplug the product from the power outlet (or socket) and any other telecommuni-cation interfaces before cleaning. Use
a damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleansers.
Do not use this product near water or in close proximity to bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry basin, in a wet
basement, or near a swimming pool. In case of fire, do not use water for fire-extinguishing. Moving the product from a
cold environment to a hot one may cause moisture on some internal parts of the device. Wait until the product is totally
dry before turning it on.

Accessibility

Antenna cable (DVB-T technology)
Please make sure that the antenna cabling and the ground clamping in your home are correctly Implemented, before connecting
the Set-Top Box to the antenna cable. In case of doubt contact companies specializing on the technical resolution of such
problems.
Maintenance
To avoid electrical shock or exposition to overvoltage, do not open the case. There are no parts inside the Set-Top Box that can be
substituted by the user. In the event that the product requires service, contact Cyta’s call centre.

Damage requiring service/replacement
Unplug the product from the electrical outlet and contact CYTA. Typical conditions which may require replacement:
• Liquid has been spilled into the product
• The product does not operate normally when you follow the operating instruc-tions
• The product has been dropped or damaged
• There are noticeable signs of overheating
• The power cord, extension cord, or plug is damaged
If you perceive a burning smell or smoke from the device, you should turn off the power to the equipment at the source.
To avoid severe electrical shock, do not open the device in any case.
Final Remarks
This device must be installed and used in strict accordance with the manufac-turer’s instructions as described in the user
documentation that comes with the product.
