Achievements & Activities 2015 -2016 The Graduation Day of Kindergarten was celebrated on 12th March 2016 with gust and gaiety. The event started with a welcome speech by our honourable ViceChairman, Mr. Tejinder Khurana. It was followed by the Principal, Mr. Sudhanshu Shekhar where he addressed the tiny tots in his own charming way. The entertainment began with the colours of the cultural feast like dances and songs that enthralled the entire audience. Titles were given to the UKG stars for their image and inspiration along with their degrees and graduation caps. The tiny tots of UKG enjoyed their special day with great excitement and merriment. The beautiful day ended with the vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Manmeet Khurana, Manager KLI who wished all the little angels luck and love for their years ahead.… Sky is the only limit to many of our multi-talented students and Anu Chauhan of class VII is one of them. We congratulate her for securing III rank at national level in INTERNATIONAL FRENCH OLYMPIAD (IFLO) 2016 held in January 2016. She has been presented a winner’s trophy and a digital camera as the reward for her wonderful performance. We wish her all the best for her future endeavours! Pratibha Samman Samaroh was organised at Gujjar Sabha Meerut on 21 Feb. 2016. Trisha Adhana of class VIII-H, the best performer and the winner of Kurash Championship at national level was awarded a certificate and a watch as a memento by Mr. Atul Pradhan and Mrs. Seema Pradhan, the eminent personalities in the city. She was further appreciated and blessed by Mr. Ram Sakal Gujjar (State Minister), Mr. Lakhiram Nagar (Ex-Minister of U.P.) and Mr. Harish Pal (Ex-Sansad). Digital Learning (India) Magazine conducted a survey to select the Best Education Imparting Institute 2015. About 1369 schools registered to claim the position. Out of them, 73 registered schools of India were selected through ‘India’s Most Comprehensive School Ranking Survey-2015’ for the accreditation. K. L. International School, Meerut, ascertained its excellence and uniqueness in the field of education and got succeeded in securing its place in the Winners’ List. School Leadership Organisation bestowed the “Best School of India Award- 2015” to the school on 18 February 2016 at Hotel LeMeridian, Delhi, for instilling a culture of excellence in the students through innovative pedagogy. The bibliophiles Akshay Rautaray and Shatabdi Mishra who started their journey from Odisha have covered 20 states in 90 days with the motto “Read More India” reached the school campus on Wednesday, 17 February 2016. They exhibited classical, religious and knowledgeable books, magazines, novels, encyclopaedias and also promoted regular reading session by eminent authors and poets. The smiles on the faces of thousands of children gladden Akshay and Shatabdi and they have decided to visit more schools to rekindle the joy of reading and imagination among students. The two spent extra time with children, describing them about their goal and futuristic vision of mobile bookshop. They also thanked the school authorities for their overwhelming response and support. The Food Contest - Cooking without fire was organized exclusively by the students of class IX-X with the aim to DUMP THE JUNK FOOD & MOVE TO NUTRIENTS. This contest includes one drink, one sweet dish and one spicy dish. Students enthusiastically participated in the competition and won different prizes. Invoking the blessings of goddess of learning, the occasion of Basant Panchami was rejoiced on the school premises on 11 February 2016. The pre-primary children were excited to dress in yellow on the occasion. Parents were ecstatic to join and celebrate it with their little champs. Parents enthusiastically volunteered for Kite Flying Activity and did a commendable job. They relished the snacks & laddoos. In our endeavour to empower minds, Pamphlet Designing Competition was codified for the students of classes VI-VIII on 9 Feb 2016. They utilised their innovation and fantasy using ‘Photoshop, CorelDraw, and Dreamweaver technologies. All the pamphlets were very inspiring and informative. The entire session was learning experience much of that of a competing one. Winners of the competition were felicitated with certificates. NAZARIYA- Inter School Painting Competition was organised by Heritage Foundation of Art and Culture. Pushti Goel of class I-B got the First Prize in Sub Junior Category at National Level. The prize was awarded at Venkatappa Art Gallery Auditorium, Bangalore in the prize distribution ceremony where all the best paintings were exhibited during World Environment Day to chare the child’s mind with the audience thereby promoting the awareness on Go - Green. YAVNIKA SINGH (XII) OF K L INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL SELECTED FOR GRADUATION COURSE IN RITSUMEIKAN ASIA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY (APU) JAPAN A highly talented student of our school is among those 50 students who have been finally selected from India to get an exclusive opportunity to study in RITSUMEIKAN ASIA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY (APU) JAPAN with 50 % scholarship. Initial miscellany for short listing the able students was through the Essay Writing Competition on “ Where do you see yourself 10 years from now and how do you think studying in JAPAN can help you” organised by the Regional Head Quarter at Chennai. YAVNIKA SINGH was shortlisted on the basis of academic merit, for the interview, post which she had fulfilled the required formalities and appeared in the skype interview with the officials in JAPAN at Delhi. This opportunity will undoubtedly be letting her dreams get the wings of amazing education and facilities. Yavnika will pursue her studies in Cultural Anthropology (Bachelor Degree Course in Social Science). We wish her good luck for future! On 7 February 2016, 6th NCR OPEN HIGH SPEED ROLLER SKATING CHAMPIONSHIP was held at D P S International School, Dasna, Ghaziabad by of Speed Skating Association U P. 210 skaters from 25 schools of Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hathras, Modinagar & Delhi marked their participation in the event. Our skilled and chiselled skaters outdid all the performers by their superb presentation in the championship and claimed for the WINNER’S TROPHY and were felicitated with 27 gold, 22 silver & 13 bronze medals. We are proud of our champions and wish them good luck for future endeavours. Our outstanding Karate players have won the Winner’s Trophy along with 7 gold, 4 silver & 13 bronze medals in the in Interstate Karate Championship 2016. In this championship teams of 10 Schools from Meerut, Ghaziabad, Delhi, Modinagar, Dehradun & Agra comprising of 270 players participated. K L I team outshone all the teams by their unparallel performance and was adjudged the Winner of the championship. 1st Khel Ratna Samman ceremony was organised by District Athletic Association, Hapur at DPS, Hapur on 31 January 2016. Mr. Ram Sakal Gurjar, Sports Minister, U.P. (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports) felicitated Trishla Adhana of VIII-H with a certificate and a memento for her best performance in National Judo and Kurash Championship. 1St Mount Litera Inter School Basketball Tournament: School is proud of its girls’ basketball team for adding another feather to the cap of school’s success. Our girls’ team marked its victory by their outstanding performance and bagged the Winner’s Rolling Trophy of the Basketball Tournament in 1St Mount Litera Inter School Basketball Tournament held at Mount Litera Zee School from 22-24 January 2016 in which 15 teams from reputed schools had participated. Kudos to Pragya (XI-A) & Chandan (XII-F) for being felicitated with the BEST PLAYER AWARD OF THE TOURNAMENT. The special mention is of the meeting of this team with Mr. Jagdeep Bains, ex India basketball player & Mr. Yashdeep, player in Indian Basketball team. We wish our girls –Basketball team many more such accolades in the time to come. Indo Nepal Shotoryu Cup 2016 was held on 23 & 24 January 2016 in which 450 students from Hathras, Aligarh, Mathura, Bihar, Delhi & Meerut had participated with full enthusiasm and vigour. Our students proved their mettle in the tournament and did us proud by winning 5 gold, 3 silver & 6 bronze medals. Congratulations to the winners! 2ND INTER SCHOOL MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD 2015-2016 was conducted at St. John’s Sr. Secondary School, Meerut, in two rounds. 15 schools participated in the preliminary round in which 4 schools were qualified for the second round. The second round was held on 22 January 2016 and our school grabbed the Runners Up Trophy and the second prize for Pulkit Sharma (XI A). Vibhor Verma was conferred with Aryabhatt Award in the Olympiad. Out of 7925 entries from 27 states & national territories of India total 212 were shortlisted for the International Award Ceremony. Suhani Jain of class II-G brought laurels to school by winning the Local Organiser Award at MITSUBISHI ASIAN CHILDREN’S ENIKKI FIESTA 2015-16 by confederation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations of India (CUCAI). Congratulations to Suhani for the achievement. We wish her luck and look forward to receive the International award as well. K. L. International School is on the path of physical, mental and spiritual growth while observing Meditation Week The Instructors from “ART OF LIVING” conducted a session addressing the teachers emphasized on the benefits of meditation post which a meditation week is being observed from 14 Jan 2016 21 Jan 2016 by the students of classes VI-VIII to prepare for the upcoming annual examination with better health, mental clarity and enhanced perception. It is said that meditation helps in stress relief and increases in brain matter volume to lead a stress-free life, improved relationships, inner wellbeing & personal development. So students are being trained to maintain silence, breathe aptly, gaze a candle and chant mantras and they are realising that it increases their power of concentration, experiencing tranquillity and will help in physical, mental, and spiritual development. To inculcate confidence and develop oratory skills among the tiny tots of the K G wing, the SHOW &TELL COMPETITION was organised on 18 January 2016 for the students of classes Nursery, LKG & UKG. Students were thrilled for their presentation that came out superbly well with their props and aids. It was a fantabulous programme and was a fantastic treat to the eyes. A quiz on General Awareness and Current Affairs was conducted on 15 January 2016 for the students of classes VI &VII. Students faced the quiz with full confidence and vitality which they displayed enthusiastically when they answered spontaneously to the questions put up in different rounds. Utkarsh VII (I) and Alexshandra VII(E) were declared the GENIUS after winning the quiz whereas Ayush Singh VI(D) and Uttam Sharma VII(H) bagged the second position in the quiz. A session was organised by the school for the students of classes IX & X. It was conducted by Shrey Singh, an alumnus of K. L. International School (2012-13 batch) Shrey Singh sought admission in Shri Ram College of Commerce for Economics Honours after scoring 100 marks in Economics in class XII CBSE Board Exams. He has been recruited by the company – Future First, which he will join after the completion of his degree course in 2017. The resource person stressed on imbibing motivation, success, time management, reading habits etc. besides emphasizing on shaping the personality and attitude. According to him- TALENT IS A USELESS VIRTUE TO POSSESS which he explained well, quoting many instances. Shrey Singh cited many live and vivid examples to let participants realise the opportunities, get inspired by successful people and he dealt with students’ problems diligently in the workshop. In the last leg of his presentation he opened the floor to questions where he solved all the queries of the students with patience and pleasure. The session proved to be a good appetizer as the participants seemed very inquisitive and enthusiastic. With a view to bring about awareness on sustainability, the school initiated a project ‘PRAYAS – for creating a sustainable world’ in the month of October 2015. Under the same project, an international expertise workshop was organised on 12 January 2016 in the school auditorium where two international delegates from Terra Cura Inc. – Mr. Ronald Maribett, Cofounder and Mr. Jason B. Herbert, Chief Financial Officer, addressed the students on the numerous ways to adopt sustainability in day to day life. The workshop began with the lighting of the holy lamp by the international delegates, Mr. Tejinder Khurana, Vice Chairman, Mr. Manmeet Khurana, Manager and Principal Mr. S. Shekhar, followed by a warm welcome to our esteemed guests. The dance fusion of Bharatnatyam & Kathak stole the hearts of the reverent guests. Then the school displayed the efforts of the students from classes KG - XII in different aspects of sustainability like vermicomposting, cleanliness, herbicura, rain-water harvesting and improvised apparatus through PowerPoint presentation. The delegates addressed the students on sustainability and guided them about terrace farming and raised bed farming. Mr. Ronald Maribett suggested that even in busy schedule of life we may contribute by banning the use of plastic bottles as he himself has opted glass jar in place of plastic bottle. A token of thanks in the form of souvenir was given to Mr. Ronald Maribett and Mr. Jason B. Herbert by the Vice Chairman, Manager and Principal of the school. The workshop was culminated with the vote of thanks by the Principal in which he stressed on the quote “The emerging new world vision has ushered in the Era of Responsibility”. NAZARIYA-A National Level Mega Painting Competition, themed on “WATER CONSERVATION” was organised by Heritage Foundation of Art & Culture with the motive to increase the horizon of cross learning at an international level to spread the message of “GO GREEN ACROSS THE GLOBE”, for the students to provide an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents. The budding flair of our school (Class I & II) show their calibre as Nehal Garg brought laurels by winning however Pushti Goel and Khushi Sharma stood second and third at school level in junior category. All India Pacific Karate –Do Association organised Open International Karate Do Championship 2016 on 9 & 10 January at S. W. Committee Hall, Goa. The event was organised with a great pomp and show where 300 players from India, South Africa, Germany, Nepal and Sri Lanka participated with full vigour and confidence. Students of K. L. International School marked their victory in many rounds and returned with 8 Gold and 2 Silver Medals. K. L. International School rejoices as our student has won silver medal in the SGFI (School Games Federation of India) 61ST National School Games Championship for Kurash 2015-16 (Boys & girls) held from 2 January to 5 January 2016. Competing with about 25000 students from the entire country, in different sports categories in Kurash Game, Trishla Adhana of class VIII-H (Under-19yrs in 52 weight category) acquire the silver medal exhibiting her splendid performance. Congratulations to Trishla Adhana for the achievement. The school has won much fame and acclaim as two students of the school have won Bronze Medals in the CBSE NATIONAL SKATING CHAMPIONSHIP 2015 held at URMI SCHOOL & HOSTEL, VADODRA, GUJARAT. The championship was held from 30 December 2015 to 2 January 2016, competing with about 500 students from the entire country, Parth Bhardwaj of class IX-D and Pranav Gupta of class VIII-A has made us proud by winning bronze medals exhibiting their exuberant skating skills. It is indeed a marvellous achievement for the school where the unique ability to poise and balance enabled the skaters to emerge as the proud winners. “Books are the treasured wealth of the world & the fit inheritance of generations and nations”. Keeping this in mind the school organised a book Fair in association with ‘Scholastic’ on 30 and 31 December 2015 on the school premises. It saw an overwhelming response from the students and parents who had come to attend the PTM. A wide range of books from all disciplines of education was displayed and the fiction saw the greatest takers. A lucky draw was also organised by the Scholastic group for book lovers. Arpit Sharma of class VII-F showcased enchanting and goose bump inducing talent in the Photo Competition 2015 on 25 December 2015, organised by Meerut Camera Club in association with Canon. About 200 amateur photo enthusiasts from Meerut submitted their entries on the topic ‘Nature’ in senior secondary school category. He earned plaudits for his efforts and bagged the First Position. He was awarded with Canon Camera and cash prize of Rs 2100/- Christmas is a time to give and forgive. Celebrated everywhere as a joyous affair, we too, at school celebrated Christmas as a happy time for the children of classes Nursery to VIII. “Away in a manger”, “O Come all ye faithful…”, “Dashing through the snow…” etc. filled the air with festivity. To explore the creativity of the students, the school organised a plethora of Christmas Symbols Making Competitions like Santa Claus, Bells, Christmas tree and Streamers within the classrooms. The whole school wore a festive look when it was decorated with the material created by the children. The student attired as “Green Santa Claus” attracted the attention of the students. He also gave the message “Say No to plastic”. Gifts and sweets were distributed by Santa as a token of wishes. With an aim to bring awareness on the contributions made by the renowned mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, National Mathematics Day is celebrated on Monday in school premises. On this event Mathematics relay race was organized in different teams of four students in each, they were solving questions and running on the track simultaneously. Students enthusiastically took part in the contest. This activity has developed self-confidence, students enjoyed through this activity. Dainik Jagran organized an event at KLI on 22 December 2015, for the young generation “Youth Connect”. The luminaries who graced the occasion were Mr. Tejinder Khurana, Vice Chairman KLI, Mr. Manmeet Khurana, Manager KLI, Mr. Sudhanshu Shekhar, Principal, KLI, accompanied by honorable Mr. Alok Sinha IAS Commissioner Meerut, Mr. Vikas Chugh G.M. Dainik Jagran, Mr. Dinesh Dinkar-City Incharge, Dainik Jagran, along with the whole team of Dainik Jagran. Mr. Alok Sinha was the exemplary who was there to answer the enormous questionnaire of our young minds, as the students were curious to ask he was eager to answer them, kids emerged out with queries wherein they asked about his vision for the present and the future, he was an IITian so how he decided to become a Commissioner, did he always wanted to be the one he is today and what all difficulties he has faced during the tenure, what changes does he observe in the younger generation and their outlook towards life & career. Our students were impressed with his biography & wanted to follow his footsteps. Salad Making Competition was organised at our school, the students of classes IX-X participated in the Competition and prepared salad with different ingredients & shapes as Ship Salad, Vegetable Salad, Mexican Tadka Salad and Russian Salad. The participants explained the specialty of their preparation and also the importance of including salad in our regular diet for maintaining good health and keeping diseases at bay. The main focus of the Competition was not only the preparation of salads but also upon their artistic presentation which carried an aesthetic aspect. Equal emphasize was on the hygienic considerations which was to be kept in view while preparing and dressing the final product. The young aspiring skaters of our school flared their vibrant colours at the First Inter School Open Roller Skating Championship held in Haridwar orchestrated by Haridwar District Roller Skating Association on 20 December 2015. Students of our school got the better of the 150 participants of other schools and clinched Overall Championship Trophy. Individually skaters won 13 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in their respective categories. The sports champs of our school earned much acclaim and fame in the State Kurash Championship and National Trial at Ambedkar Sports Stadium, Saharanpur on 18 & 19 December 2015 where 250 zealous sports stars from various schools of UP came to prove their merit. The school credited 2 Gold and 2 Silver Medals. Besides this, two students also got a chance to prove their mettle in Schools Games Federation of India Nationals. A successful presentation of the project at the INK Conference, Mumbai, led the geniuses of KLI to the Regional Event: The Delhi Challenge Level of Teenovators- 2015 on 17 December 2015 at Delhi, organized by Manipal University in association with INK. In this preliminary round the students displayed their project idea and its model which depicted the innovation of the young scientists of KLI. At the meet they grabbed the opportunity of meeting Dr. Kiran Datar, former advisor of National Knowledge Commission, Govt. of India and Mr. Prateek Yadav, winner of Indian Memory Championship-2013-14. They have moved on for Level III Inter City Challenge Round where they will put forward the PowerPoint Presentation explaining the project design and its implementation plan. KLI skaters took part in the prestigious Amateur Meerut District Open Roller Skating Championship 2015 on 13 December 2015 held in Translam Academy International. KLI skating champs competed with almost 400 students of other schools in the Rink race and race ahead to the winning post. Students grabbed 21 Gold, 12 Silver and 13 Bronze medals and also secured the Overall Trophy. Cooking without Flame Competition was conducted in our school on 11 December 2015 for the parents of the students of the KG Wing. The excited mothers enthusiastically participated in the competition and prepared mock tails, salads, sandwiches and desserts and displayed their culinary skills. Dr. Rupali Mishra and Mrs. Sonal Sharma were the judges on the panel. Mrs. Mani was adjudged as the winner. Mrs. Khushboo and Mrs. Shivi Mahajan secured second and third position respectively. The students are perplexed at the verge of class XII board examination, be it the board pressure or what to do next after class XII. To help sought this query a session, with eminent career counsellor and educationist from New Delhi, Mr. Jitin Chawla, was organised on 7 December 2015 in our school, where he discussed the importance of time management, focus, planning etc. during the examination. In this event, around 600 students from K. L. International School and other 15 schools from Meerut participated. The other speakers for the session were Mr. Virendra Gupta, Deputy Director, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun and Mr. Abdullah Ahmed, Director, IIHM, Delhi also shared their rich experience with the students. Lavanya Raj (VIII-E) and Shruti (VIII-E), the quiz wizards of our school got yet another winning trophy at the State Level of Prantiya Bharat Ko Jano Quiz Competition, held at City Vocational Public School on 6 December 2015, organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad. Their presence of mind and wit earned them a position in Nationals to be held at Agra. Looking at alluring advertisements of famous food chains, children are getting attracted to junk food. To address the issue, our school took an initiative to inculcate healthy eating habits by organising a Healthy Tiffin Competition on 4 December 2015 for the students of Kindergarten. Their mother had put in their best efforts to make the tiffin of their child healthy, nutritious, presentable and tasty. Children were also eager to show off their lunchboxes to others. The main motive behind this competition was to remind parents to take extra care in preparing nutritious food for their children throughout the year. Ms. Yashu Rathi, Dentist and Ms. Shalini Sahani , Homeopathic doctor, who were the judges of this competition stated, “As parents, we are happy that the school has included such kind of co-curricular activity in the school calendar which will help the students to inculcate healthy eating habits”. All the students brought healthy food like Sprouts, Green Salad, Fruit Salad etc. in their lunchboxes giving the message “Eat Healthy, Stay Healthy”. Abhav K Kumar of class V has been enrolled in Limca Book of Records in the field of skating at Shivganga Roller Skating Club, Belgaum, Karnataka by showing his winning passion in 121 hours relay skating marathon over 315 participants by covering a total distance of 3,150.6 KM by 15,753 laps on a 200 m running track at shivganga roller skating rink. The event started at 6:15 p.m on May 29 and ended at 6:15 p.m on June 3, 2015, along with he also entitled himself in India Book of Records, Indian Achiever Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, Unique World Records. One of the most treasured memories of the school life is the school picnic attended with friends. To ensure that our students can add more to this treasure, this year the school organised a tour for the students of classes III-XII in the month of November at ‘Adventure Island’, New Delhi and ‘World of Wonders’, Noida. All the students were completely enthralled with the swings and joy rides. Their feeling of pleasure was elevated on witnessing the magic show. They enjoyed the sumptuous meal offered there. The excursion rejuvenated their energy. It was a remarkable and fun thrilled experience for the students as they came back with a smile on their faces. To enhance the communication skills of our students an English Grammar Workshop was organised in the school on 28th & 30th November for classes VII & VIII to educate the students on English Language, Parts of Speech & Pronunciation. Importance of Personality Development was also the part of the session. The spokesperson for the event was Mr. Dayaram D C, Professor (English Communication and Personality Development). He vested his valuable time to enlighten our students with his erudite session which boosted the confidence of the students. A workshop was conducted for the girls of classes III-VIII where in Ms. Reetul Arora (Coordinator VI – VIII) & Ms. Sandhya Singhal (Coordinator III-V) discussed with them the major issues of teenaged girls. She talked about personal hygiene and cleanliness as well as dealt with the problems of peer pressure and also gave valuable suggestions on how to overcome them. Girls were also counselled on the difference between good touch and bad touch. Mr. S. Shekhar, Principal, guided the girls on cyber issues and asked them to discuss their problems with parents. It was an extremely informative session for the girls. The school has won much fame and acclaim in the 6th UP State Roller Skating Championship held at B.B. Saraswati Shishu Mandir Inter College Shastri Nagar, Meerut, on 28 & 29 November 2015 where 20 zealous teams from various schools of the city came to prove their merit. Our skaters capped the championship and won 13 Gold, 8 Silver and 5 Bronze medals. It is indeed a marvellous achievement for the school where the unique ability to poise and balance enabled the skaters to emerge as the proud winners. The Literary Club of the school organised a wide spectrum of activities for the students of classes VI-VIII on 27 November 2015 be it vocabulary games, quizzes or linguistic games, an enthusiastic participation was observed. The budding literary geniuses were parted with the brief information about the legendary Indian authors. They were enthralled to see inspirational and motivational videos of Dr. A. P. J Abdul Kalam. Thereafter, they answered the questionnaire given to them. On November 26, 1949, the bag of borrowings or commonly known as the Indian constitution was laid hence the Prime Minister of India, Mr Narender Modi, announced this day to be celebrated as Constitution Day where every year school children will be taught about the constitution and its architect Dr. B.R. Ambedhkar. To commemorate this day, a poster making competition was organised in the school for classes VI-VIII to illustrate the messages contained in Preamble to the Indian Constitution. A special assembly was called where the winners received the certificates. The Infinity Club (MATHS) organised a mental reasoning session for the students of classes IX & X on 24 November 2015 wherein the mathematical skills of students were tested through a quiz. The quiz was conducted in 5 rounds where the Rapid Fire round was the final one which hogged the limelight of the contest. The competition ended with great enthusiasm as for the winning team IX – E and X –F & the second position was took over by IX – B and X-D. As a token of appreciation winners and runners up team members were awarded with medals and certificates. Leaders are not born, they are created. Keeping the same spirit in mind, a Mock Parliament Session was conducted for the students of classes X & XI on 23 November 2015 to create awareness among them about the functioning of the top legislative body in the country. The teenaged students , donning the roles of National Leaders like Prime Minister Mr. Narender Modi, Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav, Supremo Samajwadi Party etc, discussed the most burning topic of students’ life ‘Reservation’ and presented their views over it. A jury comprising of teachers selected the best performers who were given Certificates of Appreciation. The talented Judoka of KLI, Saniya Kumari of class VII was bestowed with a bronze medal at CBSE National JUDO Championship 2015 which was from 19 November 2015 to 22 November 2015 at Bhavan’s S. L. Public School, Punjab. She was one among the 1500 students who participated from various schools of India. To make a day lively and thrilled for the orphan and poor children, a special assembly was organised in the campus of our school on 21 November 2015 wherein they had enjoyed cluster of activities starting with cake cutting followed by music, dance and games etc. made them joyful & happy. In addition to this warm clothes, toys & food packets were also distributed to the children. A day out in the school rejuvenated their innocent spirits which was all together a different experience for them. It was an exciting moment for these children when they were taken to Dominos on 17 November 2015 where Mr. Manmeet Khurana, Manager, K.L.International School and Mr. Harikant Ahluwalia, Mayor, Meerut, offered them pizzas. The enthusiastic children relished the food and their eyes expressed their heart’s elation as they always had a dream to visit such places. In addition to this to keep the children warm and comfortable in harsh winters, woollen clothes were also distributed to the children of slum sections. ‘Health is Wealth’ keeping the phrase in mind, on the 3rd day, a medical camp was arranged at Howard Plested School, Meerut and Kasturba Gandhi School, Meerut, on 16 November 2015 contributing comprehensive health services where a team of efficient doctors from Red Cross Society , IMA and Medical College examined them and discussed about the importance of healthy living style. On the second day of project Phuhaar, a health check-up camp was organised for the children of slum areas. Team of medical practitioners headed over this camp. The doctors counsel the patients and their parents. A convention ‘Samwad’ was conducted in the office of HINDUSTAN (Hindi News Paper) on 14 November 2015 wherein the renowned and eminent personalities of Meerut put forward their suggestions to alleviate the distress from the lives of needy children. Impressed by the generosity of K. L. International School and HINDUSTAN, Indian Medical Association adopted 20 schools (which lack in basic level of amenities) from Meerut to provide them with better educational services and to develop their personalities leading to a brighter future. To offer tribute to the ancient language, Sanskrit, Sanskrit department of CCS University had organized Vyas Samarohah- Sanskrit Debate Competition. Satakshi Tyagi of Class IX-H was adjudged best speaker against the motion and was bestowed with a Gold medal and a cash prize. Rishika of class VIII-H made us proud by securing second position in for category and received a Silver medal and a cash prize. An overall shield was awarded to the school. A Painting Competition themed on “India Today India Tomorrow”, “Digital India”, “What I want to be when I grow up” was organised by Axis Bank for students to provide an opportunity to research and showcase their artistic talents. Suhani Singhal and Ananya Gambhir brought laurels by winning First and Third prize in their respective category and qualified for Zonal Round. 2nd Inter District Karate Championship was organised by Shito Ryu Seiko-Kai Karate- Do in Hapur on 22 November 2015 proved to be propitious event for the Karate Champs of our school as they brought 10 gold, 9 silver, 5 bronze medals and winner’s team trophy. The Karate champs of our school participated in of World Budo Shotoryu Meerut District Karate Championship-2015 and won 9 Gold, 13 Silver and 10 Bronze medals among 150 students on 21 November 2015 at Akshay Palace, Nai Sarak, Meerut. The team was also announced as the best team during the competition and received the “Best Team Trophy” for the same. The Cricket Fanatics of KLI, Manasvita Tyagi and Akshat Dixit of class XI got an opportunity to interact with the renowned cricketer Virender Sehwag on a visit to Dainik Jagran office, Meerut on 20 November 2015. It was an enriching session where our students got to know more about the game and the legendary cricketer. Clay Modelling Competition was held in kindergarten on 18 November in the school campus. All the students were given clay and above their expectation the talent of little tots came out to make different things like butterfly, sun, maize, flowers, birds etc. Everyone participated with great enthusiasm and the competition gave vent to their creativity. The KLI skaters graced the 16th National Roller Skating Championship 2015 organised by Speed Skating Federation of India at NIT, International Skating Rink, Nagpur, Maharashtra, from 14 to 16 November 2015. Our skaters bagged 4 Gold, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in this championship where 500 students participated from all over the country. Our team stood second in roller hockey skating event. Diwali Celebration: The sparkling lights and merry making has filled the ambience with the festival of lights around. To bring out the essence of the festival- celebration of life and goodness, an array of activities associated with the tradition of Diwali like Door Hanging, Candle Decoration, Bandhanwar Making, Paper Rangoli Making, Creative Ganesha Making were conducted from 3 November to 7 November 2015 for the students of classes KG to X. This celebration unfolded their creative abilities which enthralled everyone. The toddlers burnt placards containing their two vices and vowed to inculcate good habits and get rid of their bad ones. To sensitize the students on the ill effects of burning crackers, a rally was organised in the surrounding areas of the school by the students of classes IX & X. Devotional songs, skit and dance by the students of classes I & II left everyone spellbound. The celebration concluded with the Principal giving away the message of a safe, peaceful and bright Diwali. CBSE East Zone Skating Cluster (Boys) conducted from 1 November to 3 November 2015 at IIMT Academy, Meerut. Over 110 schools registered for the event with a total of 651 participants. Champion Skaters of KLI came up with stellar performance in this championship and bagged 6 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in their respective categories. 7 young skaters of our school have also qualified for the National Skating Championship scheduled to be held in Gujarat. The Judokas of our school participated in East Zone Judo Championship 2015-16 organised by CBSE East Zone from 29 October to 1 November 2015 at Duhai, Ghaziabad. Saniya Kumari bagged a Gold medal for her outstanding performance & got her name registered for CBSE National Judo Championship in Amritsar from 19 - 22 November 2015 whereas Ananya, Khushi, Smriti, Peehu, Harshita and Kashish were bestowed with bronze medal each. In Under -12 category, girls lifted the runners up trophy. The exhibition cum sale that was organised in the school on 23 & 26 October 2015 under the School Enterprise Challenge 2015 by the foreign organization “Teach a Man to Fish” earned a handsome profit. The collaborated efforts of students and art department bore fruits where they had displayed and sold handicrafts and home décor items. This profit was fairly donated to Janhit Foundation – An organisation that works for the upliftment of abandoned children and Cheers to Life Cancer Patients Rehabilitation Centre. Mr. Tejinder Khurana, Vice Chairman, K. L. International School, presented the cheque to Ms. Anita Rana, Director, Janhit Foundation, on this day. The other cheque was presented to the founder and crusader of Cheers to Life foundation, Ms. Dimple Bawa on 4 November 2015 in Delhi. The witty and intellectual Quiz mavens of KLI outshone themselves with their outstanding performance in Bharat Ko Jaano Quiz Competition (District Level) on 1 November 2015 by securing Second position in the Junior category and third position in the Senior category. Mr. S. Shekhar, Principal, has added yet another feather to his cap. He, with his optimistic approach and unstinting endeavours became the proud recipient of ‘Principal Leadership for Outstanding Endeavours Award 2015’ on 31 October 2015 by Expression India (The National Life Skills Education and School Wellness Programme) at Delhi. He was glorified with an award and a certificate by Mr. Rajat Sharma, CEO, India TV with Ex-Chairman, CBSE, Mr. Vineet Joshi. An Inter School Debate Competition was organised by Gail Gas Ltd on 31 October 2015 in the school premises on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week-2015. The luminaries graced the occasion were Mr. Alok Sinha, Commissioner, Meerut and Mr. Tejinder Khurana, Vice Chairman KLI. Sixteen reputed schools of Meerut enthusiastically participated in the competition. Everyone was mesmerized by the mature views of the various participants as all of them put on a great show. Manasvita Tyagi of class XI-B displayed her oratory skills and won third prize in the competition. Addressing the audience, the Commissioner highlighted the significance of spreading awareness about vigilance among students and stressed on increasing role of schools in imparting knowledge about social issues. The karate champions of our school proved themselves once again by bagging 4 Gold, 6 Silver and 8 Bronze Medals after defeating 300 participants from all over India as well as from Sweden, Israel, Srilanka, USA, France, etc. on 31 October 2015 in Delhi Karate Open Championship organised by the Sanshinkan International. Colouring Competition was held for the Kindergarten Section as they participated and displayed their colouring skills & enjoyed this colouring activity where they were able to showcase their imagination, choice of colours and creativity. Theme for the competition was Cartoon Characters. It was a pleasure to watch these tiny tots work with such enthusiasm. The Karate champions of KLI School projected their exuberant talent in EXSPO-2015- 9th International Sports Olympiad for World Unity and brought home 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals in a combat with 65 schools- 150 participants from in and across the country. The event was conducted at City Montessori School, Lucknow from 24 October to 28 October. The proud recipient of Gold medal was Vansh Chaudhary of class V-C, Lavanya Chaudhary of class III-I exhibited her skill and bagged a silver medal wherein Vaibhav Vats (V-C), Abhay Singh (VI-I), Nikunj Sharma (VIII-I) and Rupanshi Prakash (V-A) were the elated possessors of bronze medal each. For school enterprise challenge, an international competition organised by UK based charitable trust TEACH A MAN TO FISH our school organised “ Articulture” the exhibition-cum-sale in school premises for parents .This activity offered ample opportunity to the students to learn how to make handicrafts under teachers guidance & got chance to exhibit wide variety of handicrafts like pen holders, photo frame, mirrors, cushion covers, envelopes, paper bags & decorative items and most importantly they have learnt entrepreneurial skills. The melodious song of KLI choir was applauded when the team sang mellifluously in Rashtriya Samuhgaan Pratiyogita organised Bharat Vikas Parishad at IIA Bhawan, Mohkampur, Meerut on 25 October 2015. The school bagged the second position in this state level event. Keeping the festive spirit alive, Dussehra was celebrated on 20 October 2015. The children of pre-primary wing came dressed up as different characters of Ram Lila and in traditional attire. The teachers described the students how the stories surrounding the Dussehra Festival teach us how to overcome evil in our own lives. The children assimilated the entire story with great interest and awe. They also dramatized the story of Lord Rama and the defeat of Ravana. On this occasion, effigy of Ravana was also burnt to depict the victory of good over evil. The festivities were filled with great joy and enthusiasm. The spectators of classes III-V were enthralled to witness the talent, passion, emotions at its best in the Inter House LAGHU NATIKA Competition held on 19 October 2015 on the theme ‘MOTHER’. The budding actors of all the four houses impressively portrayed the emotions of Love, Care, Sacrifice and Protection. All the four houses tackled the themes creatively and produced some interesting and original stories on the stage. The students of Prakash House emerged as winners for their brilliant display of sacrifice. The young teenovators of our school Akshat Garg and Kanishk of class X with their scientific aptitude and brilliant minds got the opportunity of showcasing their project in the INK Live Conference, Mumbai – an event organised in collaboration with Manipal University from 16 October to 18 October 2015. The students were applauded by the elite gathering for their commendable efforts. These students have been shortlisted for the presentation of their idea in level 3, The Inter City Challenge. They also attended various workshops conducted by the speakers of Ink Live Conference and were highly elated to interact with renowned speakers and Dr, Balamurali K. Ambati. Table Tennis players of our school took the KLI flag to the greater zenith with their laudable performance at XVI Bro. A. P. Dooley Memorial Table Tennis Tournament 2015 on 16 & 17 October 2015 in St. Mary’s Academy, Meerut. Under 19 team of KLI lifted the winner’s trophy. The team comprised of four members Vaibhav Khanna, Vasu Kapoor, Yuvraj and Shresth Jarjia , Vaibhav Khanna also won the individual trophy in this category. Under -14 category Devansh Khanna procured the runner’s up trophy. The best promising player trophy was bagged by Sujal Batra. Skaters of KLI showcased their true sportsmanship in CBSE East Zone Skating Championship 2015 which was organised by DPS Meerut from 14 October to 17 October 2015. About 60 prestigious schools from all over UP exhibited anticipation, agility and skill. Skaters of KLI displayed extraordinary abilities and showed grit and guts to claim five gold and one bronze medal. After defeating 360 opponents KLI grabbed first runner’s up trophy. The scientific method is fundamental to successful experimentation: A trip to Delhi Science Museum on 16 October 2015 proved the above statement correct. The trip was full of knowledge, learning and experimentation. Students got an opportunity to interact with one of the mentors there. He told the students about the importance of innovation in the field of science. Students made the battery car using plastic bottle. This was the most interesting part of the session as the students showcased their talents by making their own cars. Then the students observed the movement of energy balls, magnetic field, human brain and many scientific models. Student’s brain also witnessed the models of our Indian history, our culture and animal life. The additional flavour of the trip was the visit to Doll Museum. All in all, it was a great experience. An Inter House Spellathon Competition for the students of classes I & II was organized in the school campus on 15 October 2015. Each team made great efforts to spell every word correctly to gain points. The competition was wonderful learning source not only for participants but also for peers. This competition also helped in enriching the vocabulary bank of the students. The winner of this competition was Prerna House. An Inter School Debate was codified by ICAI on 11 October 2015 to hone oratory skills of the young debaters. Many renowned schools from all over the city competed against each other. All in all it was a great display of oratory skills as the school won the first position in the debate. Apoorv Garg of class XII was declared the best speaker and was a proud recipient of the Winner’s Trophy. It is indeed a matter of great pride that Apoorv Garg lifted the winner’s trophy for the second consecutive year. He has been qualified for the next level which will be announced shortly by ICAI. Another milestone reached by the KLI skating team as they have won the overall championship trophy in the 2nd Challenger Cup Roller Skating Open Championship 2015 organised by UP Musical Chair Association GDRA at DPSG International School, Ghaziabad on 11 October 2015. We have hit the count with exuberant 40 Gold, 26 Silver and 13 Bronze medals. Winning overall 79 medals competing with 24 other schools of the zone with overall participation on 250 students. In order to enhance and exhibit the technical abilities of the students, St Mary’s Academy Meerut organised 10 Annual Cosmo Symposium on 10 October 2015. More than 9 schools of the city participated in the various events held during the Cosmo like Ad-Zap, Tec-Quiz etc. The students showcased their inherent talent and bagged runners up prize Pic-‘O’ Matic. Students of our school have showcased a commendable performance in the Aquatix 2015 - Inter School Swimming Championship on 9 & 10 Oct 2015 at Vidya International sports Academy by winning overall 19 medals in the various categories. Total 12 schools participated with 200 students from Meerut, Gurgaon, Delhi, Noida, etc. Students of our school were recognised with 8 silver & 11 Bronze medals for their spectacular performance. The young leaders will be tomorrow’s leaders and will try to stimulate same kind of perseverance and discipline in their work as our leaders did. Keeping this view in mind, the school organised an education trip to Parliament House for the students of classes V, VII, X and XI on 7, 8 and 9 October 2015. The students were amazed to see the architectural beauty of the Parliament and the code of conduct which was followed everywhere. They were stunned to see the world’s largest tomb structure (98 feet) at the Central Hall, where the President addresses both the houses. They were enthralled to see the area where freedom fighter Bhagat Singh threw grenade to show his protest against the Britishers. The students were excited to see the seats of PM and their favourite player Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Students expressed that their visit was very fruitful and looking forward to more such experiences. The Road Safety Awareness Programme was conducted on 08 October 2015 with the motto “Alert Today - Alive Tomorrow”. The toddlers regulated the traffic outside the school campus to spread awareness by holding placards with messages of safety on the roads while driving and walking. They urged the people to follow traffic rules, wear helmets to avoid accidents and not to park their vehicles in no parking zone. Parents and the people of the adjoining areas applauded the initiative taken by the blooming buds of KLI. Programme was followed by the Road Show in the school campus to share the highlights of activity. On the culmination day of Gandhi week, a special assembly was organised in which the Principal, Mr. S. Shekhar enriched the students and staff with his fruitful and visionary message with an aim to rekindle the love for Mahatma Gandhi among the students. A street play “Phir Se Gandhi Chahiye” was showcased by the students of classes IX & X on the occasion of Gandhi Week celebrated in the school on 6 October 2015. The students in this play displayed the small but significant entity of Gandhi’s life to convey the social message of peace and harmony. To promote and propagate amongst our younger generation, the thought, philosophy and values of Mahatma Gandhi, a Hindi Recitation Competition was organised. The event witnessed mass participation by the students of classes I & II, who recited a plethora of Hindi poems with much zeal. Winners were awarded with certificates. IPC, Institute of aspiring Chartered Accountants conducted a workshop in our school on 5 October 2015 for classes XI & XII commerce. Stating the significance of being a CA, CS or CWA and the gateway to success through IPC was the aim of the workshop. The students were benefitted with it and many enrolled themselves for the upcoming Accountancy Olympiad organised by IPC, Meerut. Mr. Amit Gupta, CA, was the resource person for the workshop. To foster environmental conservation awareness among children who are going to be our future, Nazariya organised a National Level Painting Competition on the topic Environmental Conservation on 5 October 2015. About 26 students of classes I & II adorned their canvases with colourful images straight from their imaginations and the innocent interpretations of the theme. Cleanliness conduces spirituality and that’s what cleanliness drive exhibited by the students of classes III-V aimed at. The march began from the school to the areas in its vicinity on 05 October 2015. An instructional hand out was pasted in the school bus to inculcate in students the attribute of cleanliness. Through the placards the students conveyed a message not to litter things here and there but to make use of dustbin. Outside the school, in the nearby areas, the enthusiastic students motivated people with their slogans and even distributed pamphlets emphasizing on clean and pure living habits. A remarkable performance of 17 Gold 07 Silver and 06 Bronze medals marked the excellence of the skating team of KLI who unfurled the KLI flag in Inter School Skating Competition at DPS Meerut organised by Meerut District Roller Skating Association where 24 schools with 450 students participated from NCR on 4 October 2015. A Visit to Gandhi Ashram: Students of classes I & II visited Gandhi Ashram on 03 October 2015. There they learnt how to weave thread on charkha. Then they were told about the cleaning process of cotton, quilts and how the mustard oil is extracted. They also acquired knowledge about the history of Gandhi Ashram (building). It was an educational and motivational visit. DANDI MARCH TO SAVE OUR PLANET EARTH: To pay respect and homage to the ‘Father of Nation’, Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated in KLI on 01 October 2015. The young leaders of kindergarten disguised as Gandhiji carried out a rally in the adjacent areas of KLI to promote the Gandhian Principle of ‘Cleanliness’. They marched confidently with placards in their hands to urge the people to save planet Earth. The students and the teachers joined together in singing melodiously the lines from Gandhijis favourite bhajan. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a Caricature Making Competition was organised on 01 October 2015 for the students of class XI to sensitize them about the Gandhian principles of non-violence, truth and peace. Students painted their ideas on drawing sheets to pay homage to the Father of nation. The winners were awarded with certificates. The Taj Vivanta, Lucknow reverberated with exuberance on Tuesday, 29 September 2015 as hundreds of luminaries from across the state converged there to be a part of the achievers award ceremony of the year. The most awaited surprize unfolded when Mr. Tejinder Singh Khurana, Vice-Chairman of our school was declared as the recipient of the Achievers Award 2015 in the field of education honoured by Mr. Ram Naik, Governor, UP. Mr. Tejinder Singh Khurana is a visionary, a stellar individual who epitomize strength, ingenuity, knowledge, foresight and is one who drives the growth of his educational institute with vision and inspiration. He believes in moulding the young generation’s mind through education and making them self-reliant. Handwriting reflects the personality traits of an individual. With a view that good handwriting skills at a young age can help children express their thoughts better …. a lifelong benefit, Handwriting Competition was organised for classes I to III on 29 September 2015. A mass participation was observed with great vigour and enthusiasm. For classes IV to VIII Calligraphy Competition was organised on the same day where they flaunted their masterpiece. The curls and curves on the paper were worth appreciating. The most beautiful hand in every section was applauded and bestowed with a certificate by the Principal. 23 PGTs and 11 TGTs of our School were bestowed with the appreciation letter by the MHRD, Mrs. Smriti Z. Irani for their untiring endeavours in preparing the next generation which will take our nation to great heights. The excellence and innovation that the teachers exemplify were acknowledged by Mr. K. S. Lamba, Chairman K. L. International School, Meerut who presented these souvenirs to the teachers on 18 September 2015. Mr. S. Shekhar, Principal, was conferred on with a memento for his commendable contribution in academics and was appreciated for his able leadership and managerial skills by the MHRD, Mrs. Smriti Z. S. Lamba who grace the occasion with his presence. Students of KLI participated passionately in the Stem Robo Olympiad (City Level) 2015 on 21 August 2015. Many tech savvy students of various reputed schools of Meerut had put their technical awareness to test. The efforts of five students of KLI named Arjun Angirishi, Avani Sharan, Dakshaini, Sanskriti Mittal and Harvindra Singh paid off as they have qualified for the next level. As a mark of gratitude and respect to our nation’s language, 7 September to 14 September 2015 was celebrated as ‘Hindi Week’. Activities like Handwriting Competition, Story Writing, Essay Writing and Collage Making were organised for the students of various classes. A Special Assembly was organised on ‘Hindi Diwas’ to part the students with the relevance and significance of the Language in our lives. The KLI karate champions illuminated the stage with their exemplary performance in 7th All India Karate-Do Championship 2015 organised by Traditional Shotokan Karate Do Academy (UP) on 13 September 2015 at Victoria Park, Meerut. They bagged 1Gold, 1Silver and 2 Bronze medals in a combat of 150 participants from the various schools of UP, Bihar and Delhi. Mr. S. Shekhar, the Principal, K. L. International School, registered his presence in 8th ED Leadership International roundtable conference, Lucknow from 10 – 12 September 2015. He gave a presentation on innovations in school and voiced his opinion to raise the profile of our own thinking on education and inculcating leadership qualities in children. It was an enriching experience where we had the Architects of the Finnish Curriculum Irmeli Halinen, Pirjo Koivula & Mari Paullina Vainikainen who shared with the participants their experience & teaching methodology revealing as to how Finland academically excels the International Standards. The City Round of the prestigious Bournvita Quiz Contest was held on 7 September 2015 at Crystal Park, Rohta Road, Meerut. 100 teams from 20 schools of Meerut participated in the Quiz Contest. The top six schools were selected in the preliminary round. The prodigies of our school, Vaibhav Tyagi & Siddharth Kashyap of class VIII made their way to the city final round, which was comprised of Audio-Video and Buzzer Rounds. They secured First Runners up position and glorified the name of the school. Our school skating team again proved its mettle in Amateur Ghaziabad District Open Roller Skating Championship at Khaitan Public School, Sahibabad on 6 September 2015. The KLItes sparkled among the 650 students from various schools of Delhi and NCR. The students of KLI registered 9 Gold, 11 Silver and 3 Bronze medals in their name with the remarkable performance. Their invigorating presentation got them the Overall Championship Trophy. “Teachers are like beacons of light, guiding us in the formative years of our life.” What we are today, are all because of our teachers. To acknowledge their unstinting efforts, Mishika Educational & Social Welfare Society presented Guru Shrestha Award 2015 to 24 teachers of various schools of Meerut Commissionary and Ms. Rakhi Goel of our school was one of the awardees who received the award from Mr. Alok Sinha, Commissioner of Meerut. She was bestowed with a trophy, a certificate and a shawl on the eve of Teachers’ Day. 5 September is truly golden day of the annual calendar for both the teachers and the taught. In keeping with the tradition of showing respect to their mentors and guides, a Special Assembly was conducted by the Students’ Council of the school a day prior to the Teachers’ Day. The ambience, warmth and appreciation of the students overwhelmed the teachers. The function began with the lighting of the auspicious lamp and a floral tribute was paid to the former President Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, on his birth anniversary. This was followed by a cultural programme which consisted of a vibrant array of performances. Yakun Sharma and Prajeesh Prakash of class XI delivered speeches on the importance of Teachers’ Day. Loads of best wishes and greetings came on his achievement. 4 September 2015 amidst Teachers’ Day celebration the students of our school viewed the much awaited Prime Minister Narender Modi’s special live Interactive Session with the various schools’ children, in the auditorium at 10:00 a.m. The revered PM talk which was held at Zorawar Hall, Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, in the presence of MHRD, Mrs. Smriti Zubin Irani, had an indelible imprint on the minds of our students. He interacted with nine students from nine different locations across the country. He talked from leadership qualities to digitalization – being now an integral part of the country. He also promised to provide 24x7 electricity by 2020. This session facilitated our students with a new insight and propelled them to be better stewards of the nation and the planet. Sanskrit week was celebrated in school from 26th August 2015 to 1st September 2015.Various activities were organised for the students with a seminar where Dr. Narender Pandey, Minister, Sanskrit bharti state organization, was the spoke person. He discussed that how the NASA Scientists have established their research work on Sanskrit scriptures. It was an interactive session where most of the queries of children were resolved. The session enabled the students to comprehend the relevance of the language in today’s scenario. Efforts of KLI students were exhibited in Interschool Table Tennis tournament hosted by Guru Tegh Bahadur held from 26 August to 28 August in which students proved their verve and vigour and defeated 10 schools from all over the town. Vaibhav Khanna (X-C) captured four glittering trophies whereas Bhavya Goel of (XI-F) and Vedant Kapoor (X-B) received one trophy each for their relentless efforts. Vasu Kapoor (IX-E) was adjudged the Most Promising Player of the tournament. The team of KLI put up a grand display of true sportsmanship and won 6 Gold 2 Silver and 8 Bronze medals. Our school took the initiative to get registered for TEENOVATORS 2015 programme by Manipal University in alliance with INK in July end and our participation was promptly accepted by them. In lieu of this, an Innovation Challenge Test (ICT) as a part of TEENOVATORS 2015 was conducted in our school on 26 August 2015 for classes IX- XII. The interaction with 630 students proved propitious when they came up with creative and innovative suggestions. The suggestions given were well recorded and appreciated by program organizers. The programme has motivated the students to be more problem solving and solution oriented. The first leg of the programme was a great success giving way to the students to enter the second level of five legged challenge programme which is at the National level. In order to enhance and exhibit the mental abilities of the students of classes VI-XII, the first round of “Bharat Ko Jaano” was organised on 28 August 2015 where 204 students of the school participated in two categories. All the participants displayed enthusiastic participation in the event conducted. The result of the first round will be declared in the month of September. Mr. S. Shekhar applauded the efforts of the students and reinvigorated them to keep up the school spirit. Students of our school celebrated festival of Rakhi on 27 August 2015. The tiny tots of the Kindergarten Wing came dressed in traditional attire. On this occasion a number of competitions were held in the school. Rakhi Making Competition was held for classes I – V, Thali Decoration for classes VI – VIII and Envelope Making was organised for classes IX and X. Each and every child participated in these competitions with great zeal and enthusiasm. The children made colourful rakhis, beautified thalis and envelopes using their innocent imagination. Best three from each class were selected by the judges. The essence of rakhi was well comprehended when students of our school tied rakhi on the wrist of the Army Personnel who are away from their families. The karate performers from classes III-VIII grabbed the opportunity to array their mettle in Sub junior Karate Championship organised by Karate Associaion of Meerut on 26 August 2015. They revealed their sportsmanship and won 09 Gold, 05 Silver and 10 Bronze medals in their respective categories and got the chance to dazzle their talent in U.P. State Karate Championship, Azamgarh (UP) on 06 September 2015. Out of 250 participants, Abhiansh Maittrey of Class I-A bagged the winner’s trophy in Sub Junior Open Kumite Category in Distt. Karate Do Tenshinkan Champoinship 2015 on 23rd Aug 2015 held at Satyakam International School, Meerut. Among the ten schools participated, our school was honoured with overall best award trophy. Apart of this, our team won 12 Gold, 15 Silver & 18 Bronze Medals. The karate performers from classes I-VIII grabbed the opportunity to array their mettle in Sub Junior Karate Championship organised by Sanshin Kan Karate Championship on 23rd Aug 2015. They revealed their sportsmanship and won 14 Gold, 18 Silver and 27 Bronze medals in their respective categories and got the chance to dazzle their talent in the next level i.e. 26th August 2015. In the fast pacing world, the advancement in science has touched the zenith. The school took the initiative to invite CETPA Infotech Pvt Ltd. to organise a session to part our young scientists, with the help of Robotic Science, were taught about the embedded system technology & basic working of a robot with the help of looping with C language. A five day’s workshop held from 17th August to 21st August 2015 proved fruitful for the students. On the culmination day when they designed a robot with their self-developed software and all bagged an opportunity to participate in an upcoming Robotics competition in the month of February 2016 organised by CETPA Infotech Pvt Ltd. Orientation Programme for Model UN in University of California, Los Angeles, 20th August 2015. Mun Cafe-a global simulation–based learning platform which designs, develops and delivers enriching model united Nation experiences with the focus on personal, academics & professional development. Mr.Raghav Bir Singh & Ms. Vaishali Gaur, The representatives of Model United Nation (MUN) cafe briefed the students in their very interesting session about the academic simulation in which participants take up the role of international diplomats and representatives of countries in various UN bodies including UNICEF, UNESCO, WHO, WTO, UN Security Council among others. They screened the videos of past United Nations Conferences and the sight to visits during the tour to University of California, Los Angeles to participate in their model UN Program called Bruin MUN from 13th-18th Nov 2015. Students were given the details of the tour which they could discuss with the parents for the consent to join the program. The Propellers catalogued a career counselling session students of class X and XII on 18th Aug 2015 to cultivate confidence and self-efficiency in the students. Mr Rajesh Mishra a reputed counsellor addressed the students. He advised the students not to ape others but to choose their career according to their aptitude and ability. He assured the students of having infinite opportunities and preferences to choose their career with proper planning. Overall it was a fruitful session. Independence Day celebration at our school began with the Flag hosting & balloon releasing ceremony by The Principal and junior student council tailed by The National Anthem. Many cultural programmes are organized like Patriotic song, cultural dance, and Instrumental performance by junior school band with vibrant colours and hues which reflected the unity in diversity of our country. The highlight of the day was the motivational speech by The Principal, which has taken us to the glorious past of this golden bird and exhorted the students to build a strong Nation. Program was concluded with ‘Vande Matram’ followed by sweet distribution. “The things in this world cannot be made known without the knowledge of mathematics” To encourage the young minds to think rationally and logically, Infinity Club conducted a workshop in which students of classes VI-VIII were visually informed about Indian banking system, process of opening an account, filling cheques, usage and difference of debit and credit cards. They were also prepared for a journey of the world of mathematics in which they learned how to access Digital Banking and what precautions to be taken in Net Banking. Students thoroughly enjoyed all the activities which were planned for them as these will help them to apply the skills to analyse and interpret various situation of life. The workshop was concluded with the motivational speech by Mr. S Shekhar, Principal in which he emphasised that students should develop the practical approach of mathematics in their lives. A Quiz Competition was organised by the Young Business Tycoons - The Commerce Club, on 7th Aug 2015. Four teams participated, where the team – Henry Fayol (The Father of Management Principles) Prateek Dutt Sharma (XII-E), Somya Agarwal (XIIF), Malvika Sharma (XI-F), Tripti Narang (XI-E) emerged as winner of the competition. To channelize the thought process of young minds and their career a counselling session was organised in school on 6 Aug 2015. The mentor from Career Launcher, Mr. Vikrant Jawla was the resource person for the day. He apprised the students about various entrance examinations and the mode of preparation they can adopt to excel in the field. He mainly focused on non-conventional careers like IPM, CLAT, Mass Communication etc. A bond of love and share, To show your friend’s care Keeping this in mind the little buddies of K.G wing celebrated Friendship day in the school. They tied friendship bands on the wrist of their best friends. In the special assembly the importance of friends and this day was explained to the students. Amar Ujala conducted “Paint Your Nation” contest in school on 3rd August 2015 with an innate desire to transform aesthetic potential of school children into visual art. Students of class IX-XII painted their imagination on the topic “Incredible India”. The first level was school level in which about 250 students participated 20 best were sent to Amar Ujala for further selection. 3 Gold, 5 Silver & 11 Bronze medals were bagged by our students (junior boys and girls) at U.P State Kurash Championship, Saharanpur. Out of 35 students 8 were selected for Nationals to be held at Ghaziabad. We are aware it is important to teach children to eat balanced food and avoid junk food. A special dietary consultation program for girls was conducted in the school by renowned dietician Ms. Bhawna Gandhi, She advised what to eat in order to lead a healthy lifestyle. A session presenting the rich history of Meerut was arranged for the students of class IX in our school for giving them the opportunity to know about the glorious past of city. In addition to this another workshop was conducted for staff members on “The mind & the great leap”. It was very interactive session by Mr Amit Pathak. UP Mahila Shiksha Aur Suraksha Abhiyan - An Initiative by UP Government & Hindustan Our School hosted the felicitation ceremony for the glorious event of awarding 10 distinguished women who portrayed a unique blend of courage, grit and perseverance and earned success by contributing commendable endeavors for societal changes and upliftment in their area. In the august gathering of administrative dignitaries, eminent guests, management, staff and students of KLI the event commenced with a video presentation of Chief Minister Mr Akhilesh Yadav announcing his campaign on women empowerment and associated schemes, to create awareness. Mr Alok Sharma (I.G), Mr Ramit Sharma (D.I.G) and Mr Pankaj Yadav (D.M.) honoured the ten award winners of the ceremony. Addressing the students IG Mr Alok Sharma emphasized on knowing and strengthening one's skills is the only way to success. He also told about various programs started by state government for safety and education for girls. Gold Cup Roller-Skating Championship was organised on 26th July 2015 by Roller-skating association in Satyam Morden Public School, Sonipat. Our school was Overall Winner with 34 Gold, 20 Silver and 12 Bronze Medals. Aduait Madhvan from Class 6-J has been awarded with best skater award. The Preliminary round of ‘Quiz Whiz’ competition under the aegis of ITS was held in school on 23rd July which was a written round. 103 students from class XI & XII participated with great zeal & enthusiasm. Cash prize and Certificates were awarded to the winners. Recipients of the top three ranks were Nishant Singh (XI-B) who bagged the first prize & proudly received Rs. 1000, Kartikay Agarwal (XII-F) stood second receiving Rs.700 and Ashkat Kumar dixit came third winning Rs.400. Consolation prizes were won by Sanyam Jain (XII-C) & Rishabh Garg (XII-D). Top three rankers will compete for level 2 which will be in the month of November in Delhi. Congratulations to the winners! Awareness week on good eating habits 24th July: Movie show & Sharing of tiffin Movie show was planned for tiny tots. They enjoyed the movie a lot along with popcorns. The implementation of the awareness created by this week long activity was actually observed when the students on its culmination day shared their nutritious tiffin with their friends and displayed good & healthy eating habits with table etiquettes. 23rd July: Class Activity An overwhelming participation was observed in the class activity of collage making. The kids were asked to paste the pictures of junk food in one tooth and healthy food in another. The tooth shape of this collage enabled the students to understand that the consumption of junk food often cause tooth decay. 22nd July: Role play An enactment was presented by the cutie pies of Nursery & KG classes putting forward healthy food vs. junk food. The healthy food won and emerged as winner against the junk food. 21st July: Canteen Visit A canteen visit was organised for the toddlers, where they were precisely made to understand the pros & cons of consuming junk food. The students enthusiastically participated and bought healthy food from the canteen. 20th July: Table manners Awareness week on good eating habits Initiated with guiding the tiny tots about the healthy eating habits & table etiquettes. They were told about the adverse effects of junk food and how healthy eating will result in healthy living. In CBSE Expression Series Writing Competition held on 10 & 11 July 2015. Only 108 candidates were shortlisted. Our student Asavari Rastogi of class-V gave a vent to her expressions on “The Biggest wish for my country” and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 2500/- & a certificate of merit. Hindi Recitation Competition was organised in School on 14 July 2015 for Nursery - KG Classes. To extend our gratitude to the language of the nation ‘Hindi’ & a salute to our Indian culture, the competition was held. The Tiny-Tots with their captivating smile and sweet babbles captured the hearts of the audience. Principal Mr. Sudhanshu Shekhar appreciated the endeavours of the teachers & parents as well in making this event a success. The Students of Chanakya Club rediscovered the rich heritage & history of Meerut in their research work. They gathered information about various aspects of the city and displayed their findings on display boards of the school. Beautiful glimpse of the city’s heritage including Augharnath Temple, Nauchandi fair , Sports & Scissor Industry and of course the most memorable historical event “The Revolt of 1857” refreshed the memories & enhanced the knowledge of the students. World Environment Day: The Prodigy (Quiz Club) conducted a quiz on World Environment Day organised by C.B.S.E. The topic of the Quiz was ‘National Parks & Wild Life Sanctuaries’. Students participated with zeal and enthusiasm. It was enlightening not only to the participants but also to the audience who attended the quiz. Inter house Table Tennis Championship: An Inter house Table Tennis tournament was organised for classes VI-VIII in the school. Mass participation was observed .The activity helped to inculcate in every participant the sportsmanship spirit and team work. “Greenery is our Geography Don’t make it History” Keeping the same in mind, the green day was celebrated at school on 9 July 2015. Going on a nature walk with children is an excellent way to inspire love and appreciation for the natural things around us and that is what we did to celebrate green day in the school. Walking around the plants was fun for tiny minies who ran and played in the grass and enjoyed in the lap of nature. Mathematics was incorporated in the activity to encourage learning by counting leaves, sticks & stones. Information about leaves, trees, insects, ecosystem and their role in keeping the plants/trees healthy and alive was given to the kids as a talk during the walk. Our School has been accredited with The British Council International School Award (ISA) 2015-18 for the Outstanding Development in International Dimension in Curriculum. The Principal, Mr Sudhanshu Shekhar, was felicitated with the award on 8th July 2015 by Sir Ciaran Devane, Chief Executive, British Council. A Counselling session headed by Mr Vishal Goel from IIT Guwahati (Ex Student KLI) was organised on 8 July 2015 in the school for IIT aspirants. Mr Vishal gave information about ‘Techno Quiz’. He told the students that Technothlon is not only designed to check the logical skills and mental ability but is also a platform for greater opportunities. He even shared his experiences of IIT JEE preparation and solved the queries of students. Students were greatly benefited with the session. After a long relaxing summer vacation students returned into their school schedule on 1 July 2015. A wave of fresh, rejuvenated energy was clearly visible on their cheerful faces. A special assembly was held in which the students offered their school bags to Goddess Saraswati and sought the blessings for the smooth continuity of the remaining session and grant of Knowledge and wisdom in their lives. A Felicitation Ceremony was held on 26 May 2015 in our school to honour the brilliant stars of class XII who made the school proud with their spectacular result. Principal, Mr. Sudhanshu Shekhar honoured and congratulated these students for their meritorious performance by presenting bouquet and also expressed his pride. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Shekhar motivated the students to carry on with their pursuit of excellence. To reflect the values of family and home that is our support system which provides us with a sense of belonging and with a unique identity we celebrated family day in our school on 16 May 2015. The importance of the day was marked by organizing Inter-class Debate competition for the students of class VI-VIII wherein they portrayed their feelings and thoughts about family and family members beautifully on the following topics, which gave them the food for thought and the future considerations. Topic for VI was: “Should grand parents be sent to old age homes.” Topic for VII was: “Would you prefer to be a single child to your parents.” Topic for VIII was: “Joint family is suitable for a child’s growth.” Students participated with full vigour and vitality putting forth their valid and taken- for- granted argument. The audience was thrilled by the veracious statements made by the participants. A career counselling session was organized at K.L. International School on 14 May 2015. The resource person was Dr. Vikrant Jawla, Career Counsellor and Director of Career Launcher, Meerut. Mr. Jawla interacted with the higher secondary students in very friendly way. He said, teachers are the leading light of students’ life so should be followed. Career choice should be based on one’s qualities, aptitude and personality. He called goal planning highly necessary for success. He also discussed various exam patterns like Law, BBA, BMS, Mass Com and Media. Mr. Jawla cleared the doubts of students regarding questions of reasoning and aptitude. The session was highly acclaimed by the students. INVESTITURE CEREMONY FOR SENIOR WING HELD FOR THE SESSION 2015-16 ‘Uneasy is the head that wears the crown’. With power comes a lot of responsibilities. On 15 May 2015, the new student council of K.L.I School undergone swearing-in-ceremony for the session of 2015-16 with great enthusiasm and pride. The Apex body consisted of 13 students. The new council comprising of Apoorv Garg Head Boy, Malaika Rastogi Head Girl with Akshat Kumar Dixit, Vice Head Boy, Manasvita Tyagi, Vice Head Girl, Riya Bhatia, Cultural Head, Isha Goel, Eco-club head, Yatharth Dutt and Simran Arora being the sports captains along with the House Captains and Vice House Captains of all the four houses, along with 69 members in each house were administered the oath of office by the Principal to be true to their posts and duties assigned to them. The newly elected student council were conferred with the badges of honour amidst enthusiastic audience. Principal, Mr. Sudhanshu Shekhar congratulated the newly elected members and advised them to be role models for other students. The ceremony was concluded by National Anthem. To mark the observance of National Technology Day we organized Inter-House group wise Techno Quiz on 11 May 2015 in both the groups. GROUP 1- Classes I & II GROUP 2- Classes III & V Blue House teams emerged as winners. The erudition displayed by the participants in the battle of brains conducted in three rounds stupefied the audience. Declamation Contest Sarokar 11 May 2015: Our winners of the first round appeared in the second round on the topic - Rediscovering the spirit of Renaissance. Our representatives Apoorv and Bhavya have qualified this round and will participate in the final round to be held in August 2015. Congratulations to Apoorv and Bhavya for their laudable presentation in the second round. Our school organised a one day workshop for students of class XI & XII (Commerce Group) on 09 May 2015. Mr. Sandeep Sethi, Education Officer, CBSE, New Delhi, the award winner for best teacher of entrepreneurship and commerce by NFTE was the resource person. An ordinary day was turned into extra ordinary and enriching day when Mr. Sethi shared his expertise combining local knowledge with globally accepted principles of the subject. He highlighted the importance of education through theatre which adds the sense of liveliness and linked it up with actual learning. On the blessed morning of 6 May 2015, the young, promising and deserving talents of Junior Wing were bestowed with the responsibility of leading their school from the front with their commitment, confidence and competence. Thus Investiture Ceremony was observed for the junior student council for academic session 2015-16. The ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chairman, Mr. Tejinder Khurana and Principal Mr. Sudhanshu Shekhar. Biswajeet Shekhar and Suvreen Narula sworn for the post of Head Boy and Head Girl respectively along with the student council which consisted of 16 members in the apex body together with 60 prefects in the prefectorial body. With the vigorous beats of drums, the new council marched in procession up the aisle and on to the stage. They stood upright with their heads held high and the captains picked up their respective flags. Principal, Mr. Sudhanshu Shekhar administered the oath of office and the members of the council pledged to adhere to the values and principles upheld by the school. The tiny tots of Kindergarten had unlimited fun in the Splash Pool Party at the school swimming pool where these little lives joined hands and challenged the scorching heat by taking dip in the pool . Music rocked the premises and the kids jived to the various tunes played for them. Thus with fun and frolic the thrilled students had a great time with their teacher- friends while relishing the flavours of ice-creams. The budding performers of KLI proved their mettle in an Inter school Dramatic Competition-‘Voice of Bard’ hosted by Gargi Girls’ School on 2 May 2015. Manas Agarwal of class one bagged the 1 prize in ‘Proverb category’ outshining various competitors and to further glorify the victory of KLI, Asavari Rastogi of class five was awarded for individual performance based on clarity and dialogue delivery in the ‘Scene enactment category’ Kudos to the achievers! To create awareness in students about the hazards our planet earth is facing - Earth Day was celebrated in our school on 22 April 2015.The morning began with a plethora of activities and competitions like Painting, Colouring, Extempore and Poster Making Competitions, wherein the enthusiasm of students was worth watching. On the occasion, Mr. Sudhanshu Shekhar the Principal, motivated the students by his inspiring words and appreciated their performance and expression for the occasion. Your life is a piece of clay; don’t let anyone else mould it for you. New session begins with full vigour and vitality and the Pottery Making Activity marked the onset of goings – on. The school’s Eco Club arranged a pottery making activity on 21 April 2015 in which students learned to make earthen pots for celebrating Earth Day. Students enjoyed playing with soft fresh malleable clay following the techniques required for pottery making on the potter’s wheel making various objects which thrilled them beyond measure. They also learned the qualities of clay and its advantages over hazardous polymers etc. This activity was organised with an objective to connect the adolescents and youth with Earth, nature and indigenous way of life. KAUP (Karate Association of Uttar Pradesh) Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior, Under21 State Karate Championship 2015 was held in Varanasi on 18 & 19 April 2015. It was organised very successfully by All Karate-Do District Association. This time 750 fighters from 25 Districts reached Varanasi to compete for the State Karate Championship 2015. The Super fighters of our school got 5 medals (1Gold, 1Silver and 3Bronze medals) under the able guidance of eminent coach of our school. Our students got a vivid exposure to the technological advancements as they got the opportunely to visit the IIT Delhi Open House 2015. Under the supervision of Senior Coordinator a group of 58 students and 3 teachers on 18 April 2015. A Meditation Session was organised for the students of class V on 16 April 2015 by the school. The resource person, Ms. Akansha Agarwal, a member of the Sahej Yoga Organization, taught the students how to remain stress free, calm and composed through the practice of ‘Sahej Yoga’. Children enthusiastically participated in the activity. Our talented orators Anshika Pathak (XII-B) and Apoorv Garg (XII-C) qualified the prelim round of both Hindi and English declamation contest “Rediscovering the spirit of Renaissance” organized by Sarokar…. The Concern on 15th & 16th April 2015 at Dewan Public School. Our Students exhibited excellent oratorical skills cutting their way straight into the next round after a stiff competition with 13 odd schools from the city. The school wishes them Luck and hope they emerge as winners in the final round to be held on 7th May 2015. The first Intra House Meeting for the session 2015-16 of all four houses commenced in school premises on 15th April 2015. All the four House Mistresses addressed their respective houses and facilitated the process of selection of the students’ council. Selection procedure for various House activities round the year was also carried out by activity Incharges. The winning spree of our school has not ended as it stands proud once again by winning the Overall Championship Trophy at 5th NCR High Speeds Roller Skating Open Championship 2015 on 12 April 2015 at DPSG International, Ghaziabad. Wading through a tough competition of 250 participants from 33 reputed schools the super skaters of KLI were able to grab 35 Gold, 16 Silver and 14 Bronze medals. Bringing up the highest tally of 65 medals overall, the school proudly emerged as the best participating team. Our students displayed their potential in District Karate Championship was organized by Karate Association of Meerut for Sub Junior, Junior, Cadet & Under-21 categories on 5 April 2015 at Community hall, Mangal Pandey Nagar, Meerut. There were 90 students from the school to exhibit their knack. After some close encounters and nail biting finishes, 10 students of the school were selected to compete at State level in Varanasi on 18 & 19 April 2015. The Championship turned to be a great hit because of the great efforts of the participants. The students bagged 4 Gold, 9 Silver and 7 Bronze medals.
