CURRICULUM
● PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT CONFERENCES – Conference Scheduling
Request for the Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences to be held Wednesday, October 22,
Thursday, October 23, and Friday, October 24, were sent home and due back by Friday,
September 26. Conferences have now been scheduled and your child’s Notice of ParentTeacher-Student Conference slip will be in next week’s Wednesday Envelope.
● PERFORMING ARTS – GRADES 4TH – 8TH – Sign-ups for Choir and Drama
for grades 4th – 8th have begun. Choir meets on Wednesday from 2:30 – 3:15; Drama
on Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:00. We began meeting the week of September 22nd in the
Music Room. There is no charge to participate in either class. Students may join one or both
groups – sign up forms are available from Ms. Peila, in the office, or on the desk outside the
Music Room. If your child would like to join Drama but has sports or another activity
afterwards, we can adjust schedules – parents, please send a note or email and we will
work it out! Sign ups will be closing by the end of October.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Beginning Wednesday,
October 15, the Scholastic Book Fair will arrive at our school. We need volunteers to help
with set-up and sales. Volunteer opportunities are listed below. If you can help during any

2014-15 JR LADY LANCERS YOUTH BASKETBALL –Tryouts for the 2014-15
JR Lady Lancer Basketball are Saturday, October 11th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and
Sunday, October 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Students currently enrolled in Grades 5-8
October 1 and ends on October 31st. Tickets are 25¢ each or 4 for $1.00. All profits
are for our sister school, San Jose Pacul, in Guatemala.

RE-REMINDERS!!
● INDIVIDUAL PICTURE DAY – Friday, October 10, is Individual Picture Day and
order forms were sent home in last Wednesday’s envelope. All students will have their picture
taken for the Yearbook, but ONLY those students with returned order forms on Individual
Picture Day will receive pictures. Consider filling out your Individual Picture Day Order Form
and returning it to school early. Mrs. Armstrong will distribute them on picture day.
One or two volunteers are needed this Friday to help take students to and from classes for pictures.
Volunteers will receive free pictures for their participation, compliments of Lifetouch Photography.
● MATH CLUB NEWS – On October 15, 2014, the St. Bernadette 8th Grade Math
Club Team will participate in the Math Games sponsored by Seattle Prep. The team
will consist of: Thomas Efrem, Jacob Le, Lynn Nguyen, and Caroline Tran. This
will be our first competition this year. Please wish our students luck!
● CYO HOODED SWEATSHIRTS – Attached is the St. Bernadette Hooded Sweatshirt
Order Form. All payment and completed order forms must be submitted to the school office

Hoodies will be delivered to your child’s classroom. These hooded sweatshirts ARE NOT
uniform dress code.
● FALL ART CLASSES – Art Classes are once again being offered after school at St. Bernadette
in the Multi-Purpose Room from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.. This year there will be two sessions at a cost of
