Lying in the very heart of England, Coventry
and Warwickshire is easy to reach by road,

experiences for visitors, from sport to
Shakespeare and castles to cars.
Coventry’s must-see destination is the
stunning Cathedral, which - set alongside
the ruins of the former Cathedral destroyed
in a Second World War bombing raid - is a
powerful symbol of the city’s enduring role in
promoting peace and reconciliation.
Coventry Transport Museum with its fantastic
collection of cars and vehicles, in a city that
even today is at the forefront of automotive
invention, is a great day out for families.

market; stunning Arbury Hall; and birthplace
of novelist George Eliot is also well worth a
visit.
The area is also building on its reputation as
a leading UK conference, event and festival

international audience.
Recent successes have included: major

Transforming the city
The face of Coventry city centre has changed dramatically over the last 18 months. Continued
investment and grant funding in public realm projects such as Broadgate, Council House
Square and Medieval Spon Street has vastly improved the look and feel of the city centre for
visitors and residents alike.
The transformational work continues at a fast pace
and will continue to act as a catalyst for change
and help move the city forward as a key visitor and
business destination.
One key development is the Friargate project which
will see one of the biggest transformations in the city
for decades. Creating a new £59m central business
quarter for Coventry in the key strategic location
between Coventry railway station and the city centre,
it delivers a purpose-built deck link to increase
footfall and entice visitors into the city centre.
Friargate
Delivering a major retail-led improvement scheme
is also seen as an essential component of delivering
a city centre fit for the future. The £300m City
Centre South project aims to provide this necessary
improvement and will incorporate shops, a cinema,
hotel, apartments and a multistorey car park with a
2018 completion date.
Improving and developing access between key public
and cultural buildings will also set the standard for
future investment and development. By delivering
a multi-million pound scheme, where visitors will
enjoy improved access between key city centre
locations such as the city’s architecturally-impressive
Council House, the wonderful Herbert Art Gallery
and Museum, the iconic Coventry Cathedral and into
Broadgate at the heart of the city.
Student Village
Any modern city also includes vibrant cultural and
living quarters where the entrepreneurs, retailers,
artists and city dwellers link together to bring a city
to life. To encourage this vibrancy, two new creative
villages will be developed to bring a new dimension
to the city centre making it the perfect destination for
everyone to relax and enjoy. The Student Village will
welcome students from across the globe to Coventry
and Fargo Village will be the creative quarter.
Coventry is a dynamic city, proud of its past and
confident of its future.
