DON’T Check out the Partial Tour Option!
HAVE Join the tour on July 17 and enjoy nine parks, up to 40 coasters and three wonderful countries!
ENOUGH
VACATION The partial tour will start in Sweden at Gröna Lund and visit all remaining parks on the tour
TIME? concluding with the historic Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.
The Scandinavian Sojourn starts at Finland’s Linnanmäki. The park, which opened in
1950, has seven coasters from the ACE Coaster Classic Vuoristorata scenic railway (1951) to
the park’s new-in-2011 Mauer Söhne coaster.
PowerLand offers four coasters, including
the most northerly coaster in the world: Thunderbird (2006), the GCII wood twister. The
park is also home to Europe’s largest indoor
go-kart track.
Särkänniemi offers many attractions, including an aquarium and an art museum. The
amusement park has six coasters, including the
unique Intamin inverted Tornado.
Attendees choosing the partial tour option join the tour at Gröna Lund in Sweden.
The park offers up-to-date thrills, including
Twister, the new-for-2011 wood coaster from
the Gravity Group.
TusenFryd, or “Thousand Joys,” opened in
1988 and has been entertaining Oslo families
ever since. You’ll find Vekoma, Intamin and
Mack coasters among this park’s collection of
rides.
Next, one of Sweden’s most popular parks:
Liseberg. The park counts four coasters in its
collection of 40 attractions, including Balder,
the 2003 Intamin wood twister.
With four coasters, including Falken,
the S&S Power wood coaster, and Lynet, the
launched Gerstlauer coaster, Fårup Sommerland has offered guests an outstanding experience since its opening in 1975.
Djurs Sommerland, which opened in
1981, has four coasters including 2008’s Piraten from Intamin, Gerstlaurer’s unique Thor’s
Hammer and their new-for-2011 Mack water
coaster.
PARTIAL TOUR OPTION This option does not include the three
tour parks in Finland. Attendees choosing this option will join
the tour at Sweden’s Gröna Lund and enjoy all remaining parks
on the tour.
REGIS TRATION Your event registration will cover coach and ferry
transportation during the trip, park admission, ERTs and park
meals (where provided), three- or four-star hotel accommodations
(including breakfast at each hotel), a tour shirt and trip guide. Information regarding lodging will be sent at a later date.
ARRIVAL You must arrive in Helsinki by or on July 13th, or in
Stockholm by or on July 17th. Hotel accommodations for July
13th is included in the registration fee. You will need to arrange
your own transportation from your arrival airport to the host hotel
for that night or to Gröna Lund for the partial tour option. If you
arrive after these dates, you will need to arrange your own transportation to the appropriate host park or hotel.
AIRFARE Airfare is NOT included in the registration price and
must be purchased separately. You will need to search for open
jaw, also known as multiple destination or multiple city itineraries,
when searching for flights online or with your travel agent. You
will want to plan on arriving at Helsinki’s Vantaa Airport (HEL)
or Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport (ARN), depending on which trip
option you have selected, and departing from Copenhagen’s Kastrup Airport (CPH).
LODGING Hotel accommodations are included in the event registration fee. In Europe, hotel rooms typically accommodate only
one or two people; larger parties will need to plan accordingly.
Registration fees are based on double occupancy. If you wish to
have a private room, an additional $550 charge will be assessed.
While activities have been going on since
the early 1900s, the actual park at Tivoli Friheden opened in 1958. There are four coasters
to enjoy; the newest, Cobra, a Ride Tek inverted coaster, arrived in 2008.
Denmark’s BonBon-Land, with lots of
whimsical theming, has four coasters to enjoy;
two coasters each from Gerstlauer and Zierer.
Bakken, the world’s oldest amusement
park, traces its history to 1583 and the discovery of a spring of water with purported curative properties. This historic park offers five
coasters, including a classic scenic railway and
an Intamin spinning coaster.
The tour wraps up at Scandinavia’s most
visited park, Tivoli Gardens, which opened in
1843. The coaster collection is highlighted by
the wood ACE Coaster Classic Rutschebanen,
which dates to the mid-1910s.
TOUR DETAILS Every consideration should be taken when registering for ACE’s Scandinavian Sojourn. This trip will be physically
demanding as we explore the most renowned parks and coasters of
Scandinavia. As you embark on this trip, you are making a commitment to keep a level head, exhibit patience and understanding
and represent ACE in a positive manner.
Punctuality in the tour schedule is imperative. While some sightseeing will be possible, the main focus of this organized journey
will be to enjoy these wonderful parks and coasters.
It should be mentioned that cultures and customs may be different in terms of hotels, smoking regulations, meals, operating
policies, and everyday life. These differences can cause challenging
opportunities: embrace them as the details that enrich your travels.
CHILDREN By decision of the ACE Executive Committee, children under the age of 12 will not be permitted aboard the coaches
out of respect for all passengers. Parents should be cautioned to insure any children ages 12 – 18 attending will be up to the demands
of such a trip. Children under 18 should be carefully supervised.
PASSPORT Travel abroad requires a passport; a passport card is
not acceptable. All attendees must have a valid passport. If you
have a passport, please check the expiration date carefully; some
countries require that passports be valid six months past the end of
your trip. Visit travel.state.gov/passport to learn more about passports.
QUES TIONS Any questions regarding the tour may be emailed to
