Millimetre by millimetre and thread for thread: simply the best.
Those wanting to create something special and unique of lasting value
will need nothing less than the perfect “ingredients”. This not only
applies to many other areas but especially to our Steiff manufacture,
where we only use “ingredients” of the highest quality: for every Steiff
animal, from head to paw. Starting with the thread, the filling material,
buttons, eyes and accessories and right up to what is so characteristic
for every Steiff animal: it’s “coat” or “fur”, which gives character and
form to its appearance. So since 2009 we have been particularly
happy to be able to call ourselves the world’s only manufacturer of
stuffed toys with its own fabric factory.
Through the fusion with our long-term supplier Schulte, the entire material
and fabric production process is now in the hands of Margarete
Steiff GmbH, from the very first design idea to fabric manufacture,
sewing and garnishing as well as perfecting every Steiff animal in
our factories. At Steiff Schulte in Duisburg, we create luxurious fabrics
from threads of noble materials such as alpaca, mohair and silk. These
in turn are the valuable “ingredients” for our unique creations. Those
wanting to create something extraordinary can only be satisfied with
the very best. That’s what we think – don’t you?
Alpaca – soft, silky, opulent
Mohair – lustrous, shiny and sleek
Although the number of alpaca animals in the Steiff range has increased
in recent years, the company discovered the material many years ago. Its
resurgence in popularity is due to its wonderful feel and tremendous versatility.
Alpaca can be used to create both soft Teddy bears and ultra-realistic animals.
This natural material from the wool of the angora goat is the classic Teddy b
ear
material. In fact, it was used for the first Teddy bear ever created. The fiber is
both beautiful and durable, which accounts for the amazing number of vintage
Steiff creations that appear today in superb condition. Most Teddy bears and
animals in our current Classic range are made of mohair material.

Every original Steiff animal with the world-famous trademark, the Steiff “Button in
Ear”, shows that it comes from one of the best families – and every Steiff Teddy
bear and Steiff animal proudly wears an ear tag as a clearly recognisable
identification. Both big and small Steiff fans immediately recognise the yellow
Steiff ear tag with red writing. It shows that this is one of the many, wonderful
animals and Teddy bears from the wide, unlimited Steiff assortment – an
unmistakeable original from the famous company with a long-standing tradition.

All the animals and Teddy bears at Steiff are very pleased to receive the
extraordinary distinction of the white ear tag with red writing because these are
produced in a limited edition. This means that only a limited number is available
and some are available only in certain countries. Each of these limited edition
Steiff animals with the white ear tag and the gold-plated “Button in Ear” also
brings his new owner a certificate that insures the authenticity and special status
as a limited edition Steiff animal.
Replica
The Teddy bears and animals of the replica series by Steiff are a very special
and extraordinary species. This means that these true-to-original animals are
reproduced exactly according to their historic role models from the Steiff Archives. All Steiff replicas have a white ear tag with black writing to document their
special status and the true-to-original “Button in Ear” from the respective year

Great Dane Lord replica 1932
Of all the thousands of different dogs produced by Steiff over the past decades, the Great Dane “Lord” was made only once – in the period
from 1932 through 1936. Because of the rarity and desirability of the first “Lord”, we’re presenting an exceptional replica in 2014. Like the
original, our new version is sewn from real wool felt and stuffed with finest excelsior. Each piece is painstaking painted by hand. Even the
nose is painted, not stitched. Pink accents at the ears, eyes and chin add extra detail. The dark brown glass eyes are individually handmade.
Lord wears an “underscored” button that reflects the original time of production. We’re pleased to offer you this chance to own a piece of

Teddy bear replica 1908
A decade ago, a very special Teddy bear was offered for sale at London’s most prestigious auction house. Since it was expected to be one
of the most desirable items in the sale, the Teddy bear was featured on the cover of the widely distributed auction catalogue. In Giengen, a
Steiff designer was captivated by the image of the bear. “Wouldn’t this make a wonderful replica?” he wondered. As the years passed, the
designer often recalled the beauty of that special Teddy bear. After 10 years of waiting, the time has finally come to present this unique bear
to our collectors. It was originally designed in 1908 and is now available as an exact replica of the original. The most unique aspect of this
5-way jointed Teddy bear, who is stuffed with wood shavings, is the elaborate plush developed by Steiff Schulte. Salmon-coloured mohair
with gently faded tips and a cinnamon-coloured cotton back lend this unique Teddy bear a wonderful sense of colour. His nose, muzzle and
claws have all been stitched by hand. He proudly wears an “underscored” button in ear that reflects the period of his original manufacture.
Lovers of classic, traditional bears will definitely want to add this unique example of Steiff artistry to their collections.

After the end of World War II, shortages forced Steiff designers to find alternative materials as the company attempted to resume normal
production. As traditional mohair was unavailable, other types of fibre and fabrics were used in production. From this remarkable period
of history comes our Teddy bear replica 1948. Instead of mohair, the plush is made from blond alpaca, which most closely approximates
the look and feel of the wool plush used at the time. Because wool felt was also scarce during this period, the Teddy bear’s paw pads
are sewn from a stable cotton fabric. Like the original, our replica has glass eyes, is softly stuffed with excelsior, and has a squeaker. The
nose is hand-stitched. Airbrushed coloured accents help to bring about an aged look. A period-style “underscored” button completes this
exceptional vintage design.

In 1902, the first teddy bear was manufactured in the Steiff factory in Giengen,
and in 1903 it was presented as a world
innovation at the Leipzig trade fair. The
Steiff teddy bear soon became the favourite of many children, and eventually a
collector’s item for young at heart adults.
How can you make a unique, innovative
product like the Steiff teddy bears unmistakeable and forgery proof?
The inventors and thinkers at Steiff quickly
agreed that their own trademark should
be created, which was also permanently,
inseparably connected with the Steiff products. Because until then, the Steiff animals had little card tags, which showed
an elephant with an S-shaped, curved
trunk. Even in 1904, Franz Steiff, a nephew of Margarete, was looking for an
opportunity to protect the Steiff products
against imitation. His great idea later became the epitome of quality and handicraft: a metal button in the ear as a
trademark.

seldom that a brand tradition with the highest recognition and
popularity factor comes along in such a pleasant and lively way,

The term “Button in Ear” was also registered as a trademark on
20 December 1904, and legally protected on 13 May 1905.
The metal button with the elephant motif was only used from
1904 to 1905 and was revised by Richard Steiff the same year,
which gave rise to the basic design of the trademark which is still
valid today - the embossed Steiff lettering on the button.

The most famous Steiff Harlequin bear (a mid-1920’s design in red, yellow, and blue), sold at a famous auction house in 2010 for more
than 55,000 Euros (USD $74,000). Following the path of her famous cousin comes our new Harlequin design for 2014. This delightful
miniature features a contemporary colour palette of green and pale pink tones selected to reflect current fashion trends. Around her neck
she wears a pale blue ruff. Atop her head sits a turquoise-coloured, brushed satin jester’s cap accented by two antiqued brass bells. While
she is not yet as well-known as her counterpart from the 1920’s, we’re confident our new little Harlequin will capture a place in your heart.

Every Steiff collector knows Jocko – a favourite part of our assortment since his introduction in 1909. Now we’d like you to meet Frederic,
a playful primate who’s ready to dazzle you with his own brand of magic. His body is sewn from finest Steiff Schulte mohair and his face,
hands and feet are all hand painted. Frederic knows card tricks, can pull a coin out of his ear, and once tried to saw a woman in half. But
what he really wants to do is pull a rabbit out of his wool felt hat. Luckily, we’ve provided our alpaca Diva Bunny for the job. The rest is up

Paper Teddy bear
Sometimes creativity arises from adversity. At the end of World War I, Steiff was faced with a lack of wool and similar plush materials. Always
innovative, the company found ways to produce bears and animals with a substitute paper-based material from 1919 through 1921. This
fabric made a comeback in 2010 with a special replica exclusively for Steiff Club members. Using this rediscovered technology, a new
“Paper Teddy bear” is now being introduced in brilliant snow white. It’s a first-of-its-kind treasure that’s sure to make the hearts of collectors

Salvador Teddy bear
Spanish artist Salvador Dalí said he was inspired by his “love of everything that is gilded and excessive, my passion for luxury, and my love
of fine clothes.” With Dalí’s “loves” in mind, we proudly present our Salvador Teddy bear. He’s made from rich, black coloured alpaca plush
and wears an elegant coat that would have made the master artist proud. It’s sewn from the finest cashmere and wild silk with a golden
handmade cord fastener. Of course, no tribute to Dalí would be complete without the signature waxed and twisted moustache. Dalí once

It takes a little bit of magic to make a new Teddy bear look like an antique. But the designers at Steiff could also be called “magicians”.
That’s because they can create the illusion of age through masterful craftsmanship. Our Tramp Teddy bear looks he’s just been discovered
in an attic or come fresh from an auction. He’s sewn from felted antique olive green mohair that was specially milled for a vintage look.
We’ve even softly stuffed him and sewn a patch on his paw pad to make him appear pre-loved. Everything about this wonderful Teddy says
“antique” – from his airbrushed details to his faded cotton necktie. Even his elephant-style button is an echo of the past. Add Tramp Teddy

We introduced the first animals on wheels in 1892 and they’ve never gone out of style. Grown-up children still enjoy our wheeled wonders,
with many people building dedicated collections of these Steiff novelties. Whether this will be your first – or one of many – you’ll want to

Dylan Teddy bear
Dylan is a striking mix of both the old and the new. While his silhouette may resemble Steiff classics from the past, his impish facial expression
says he’s definitely something new. Dylan is a big bear that makes a bold statement. Standing 56 cm tall, he’s sewn from light brown coloured
mohair that was milled especially for this bear. His features are hand stitched and the plush around his muzzle has been closely shaved to
highlight his prominent snout. If you look into his eyes, you’ll see that he’s noble and brave, but also mischievous and playful. Wouldn’t he

Jonathan Teddy bear
The 1950’s saw the “Economic Miracle” in Germany and the “Baby Boom” in the United States. It was also a period of rapid growth for
France, Great Britain, and Japan. During this time, Steiff introduced the “Original Teddy” – a design that would become synonymous with
the post-war years. Inspired by this classic style, Steiff designers have created “Jonathan” as a brand new tribute to all those who fondly
remember those simpler times. This magnificent Teddy bear is sewn from grey/beige coloured mohair with a slightly worn look. The plush
has a few interwoven black mohair threads to add interest. With dark brown eyes and hand-stitched features, the 5-way jointed Jonathan
perfectly captures a memorable period in the history of Steiff and the lives of our collectors.

Onyx Teddy bear
Dramatic and eye-catching, black onyx has been used for adornment since before the days of ancient Greece and Rome. This semi-precious
stone is the inspiration for the next edition in our series of gem-themed bears, following in the glittering footsteps of last year’s popular
“Amethyst” and “Ruby”. Our 2014 Onyx Teddy bear is sewn from opulent black silk plush. Her paw pads are encrusted with black and
silver SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS. Around her neck she wears a necklace with a glistening black pendant, also from SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS.

wears a tailored wool uniform with an official policeman’s cap. He’s sewn from light golden mohair and is 5-way jointed. The heroic sergeant
drives a 1:18 replica of a Goggomobil police car. This unique “microcar” was once produced in the Bavarian town of Dingolfing by the
firm of Hans Glas. Between 1954 and 1969, an impressive 214, 313 Goggomobil sedans were manufactured. Although the Goggomobil
eventually fell out of favour, our sergeant Stefan is still a fan. Like all Teddy bears, he’s a little bit sentimental about days gone by. Reminisce

Our captain is ready for any situation. From fires to floods, he’s always the hero. This bear is made of beige mohair, wears a fireman’s
coat, and is 5-way jointed. He holds a hose in his hands, ready to extinguish any blaze. He drives an amazing replica of an Isetta 250
in a 1:18 scale. Originally designed and manufactured in Italy, the Isetta was also produced in Germany by BMW from 1955 through
1962. It was one of several small automobiles introduced during the “microcar” craze of the 1950’s and 1960’s. A total of 161,728
Isettas were made, but there’s only one like our captain’s. It’s owned and used by a volunteer fire department near Hamburg. Thanks to this
special set from Steiff, you can own one, too!

Everyone’s glad when the postman arrives. In addition to the day’s mail, he also delivers the latest gossip from all around his route. Regardless
of the weather, he will never let you down. He relies on his faithful partner – a beloved yellow VW Beetle. Although designed in the 1930’s,
the Beetle was not produced in large numbers until 1945. It quickly became an international sensation. Just a decade later, Volkswagen
produced its one-millionth “Bug” in 1955. Because of the model’s robustness, the German Federal Mail adopted it for use on thousands of
routes. That made our postman and his customers especially happy. When the bright yellow Beetle rolled into town, everyone knew good

Every Steiff bear tells a story. And what story is as compelling as that of Margarete Steiff, the founder of our company? It is with great pride
that we offer a series of special Teddy bears, accompanied by commemorative medals, to honour her memory and legacy. Available in
Germany, Austria and Switzerland, these limited editions will appeal to both arctophiles and numismatists – collectors of Teddy bears and
precious coins respectively.
The series begins in 2014 with the introduction of the Teddy bear with a copper-nickel medal (production limited to three years) and with
a bronze medal (limited edition of 1,000 pieces), both sewn from the finest alpaca plush. These will be followed in 2015 by the Teddy
bear with a silver medal (limited edition of 1,000 pieces) and by the Teddy bear with a gold medal (limited edition of 1,000 pieces) in
2016, both fashioned from luxurious silk fabrics. All the bears feature a unique metallic-coloured cross-stitch on their noses that matches their

Published in 1880 – the year Steiff was founded – the novel “Heidi” is one of the most popular books of all time. With more than 50 million
copies sold, it is the touching story of an orphan girl raised by her grandfather in the Swiss Alps. Created “for children, and those who
love children” (as quoted in its subtitle), the beloved character is now available as a collectible Steiff Teddy bear. Heidi’s coat is sewn from
brown tipped mohair and she wears a red linen dress embroidered with an Edelweiss blossom. The Edelweiss motif is repeated as a wool

When French composers Claude François and Jacques Revaux wrote a catchy new love song entitled “Comme d’habitude” in 1967, they
had no way of knowing their tune would become the basis for a world-wide hit. But that’s exactly what happened -- and decades later,
it remains one of the most performed songs of all time. It is also the inspiration for a new wind-up musical Teddy bear from Steiff. As an

that’s no empty promise but rather a creed we have been living
for generations: children are our p
resent and our future. All cuddly
animals we produce and sell must therefore more than comply with
the highest of demands with regard to quality, safety, processing

and material characteristics. We place this standard above all other
specified international controls and tests. Steiff’s purity law is a fixed
component of Steiff’s corporate culture and is the basis for the trust
our customers have bestowed in us for many years: that’s what the
Steiff seal stands for.
Here you can read what we mean by the Steiff purity requirement and
how we act accordingly. Not only, because
the legislators specify it but rather because we want to.
1. No harmful substances
We voluntarily go far beyond the legally-required
standards and even surpass them. Because we are
convinced that only animals which pose no health
hazard deserve the good name Steiff.
2. No harmful dyes or colours
We have voluntarily imposed stricter regulations
than required by law for all our dyes and colours.
Children can put Steiff products in their mouths
without any misgivings.
3. Highest-Quality materials
Only the finest natural fibres, such as mohair and
alpaca or woven fur made of synthetic fibres, are
woven in our own weaving manufactory, Steiff
Schulte in Duisburg. Further more, we use only
carefully-selected, inspected materials by wellknown
manufacturers.
4. Lint-Free plush
The plush of a Steiff animal has always been
something special. It is extra-ordinarily true-to-nature,
soft, long-lasting and loses nearly no hair. We use
only uppers made of the highest quality.
5. No harmful fillings
We use exclusively new and nonharmful materials
from the factory for the fillings of our Teddy bears
and animals.
6. Highest-Quality seam workmanship
This is ensured by the standardised Steiff seam
width as well as the high density of seams, which is
typical only for animals from our company. A Steiff
animal will last a lifetime.
9. Unrivalled quality since 1880
Throughout the various production steps, we
produce continuously environmentally-friendly as
well as in view of the flaw-less quality and longevity
of our products. A Steiff animal can be a companion
throughout a whole childhood and still be a source
of joy even as an adult.
7. Hygienic production
For the production of our animals, we pay careful
attention that we adhere to all hygiene and
cleanliness standards. For example, that is why use
metal detectors during all the production processes.
8. Independent inspection
For decades we have had our products checked
by independent institutions and work intensively
with further independent institutions such as TÜV
and Dekra. In our laboratory at Giengen an der
Brenz we additionally carry out over 12,000 tests
per year. The Steiff quality management system is
certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001.

Millimetre for millimetre. Metre for metre: only the very best will do.
The fusion with Schulte, our long-term Steiff supplier, in 2009 has
made us the world’s only supplier of plush toys with an own fabric
mill. The entire manufacturing process is therefore in the hands of the
Margarete Steiff GmbH: from the first idea to the design, from fabric
production to sewing and the manufacture of every single Steiff animal.
At Steiff Schulte in Duisburg we turn thread into noble materials such as
alpaca, mohair and silk as well as other luxurious materials. All these
are in turn raw materials for wonderful, master-crafted Steiff creations.
Plush – fluffy, versatile, soft
Woven fur – cuddly, velvety, robust
Mohair – lustrous, shiny and sleek
Plush Steiff animals are fluffy and feel particularly
soft and gentle. A special finishing technique gives
Steiff’s knitted plush fabric a unique combination
of soft feel and high durability. Plush can be used
for a multitude of applications and its functionality
makes it the ideal choice for the special demands
of children’s sensitive skin.
Amazingly soft and natural-feeling, this beautiful
fabric is quite valuable. It is created through a
unique three-dimensional weaving technique that
involves inserting threads into cotton backing
perpendicularly. The result is especially appropriate for huggable toys, though this sumptuous fabric
is also used in our Studio range of near life-size
creatures.
This natural material from the wool of the angora
goat is the classic Teddy bear material. In fact, it
was used for the first Teddy bear ever created. The
fiber is both beautiful and durable, which accounts
for the amazing number of v intage Steiff creations

Characteristics which make the difference
Whether a cuddly toy is a member of the big Steiff family becomes
apparent by the famous “Button in Ear” trademark. This has varying
designs depending on status. The yellow flag specifies that it is a
“legitimate” member of the family. A while ear flag with red writing
is only worn by animals in limited editions. And finally, you can
recognise the Steiff Selection Edition by the silver writing on the white

Novelties spring
Lots of fun with good friends
Not just for Easter…
Sunshine. Blue sky. Spring awakening - outside in nature and also with
the Steiff animals in the air, on the water or in the increasingly lush
meadows. So stork Oskar has already explored the area from lofty
heights, and quickly found his favourite place for a pleasant picnic
with his new Steiff friends: the colourful Easter picnic will take place
directly on the banks of the idyllic sunny pond. First of all Oskar tells
his little friend Sigi, who immediately swims curiously across the pond
to look at the sunny spot on the bank more closely.
The lambs Linda and Flocki have also already been informed and

bunny ears into the picnic basket. They need a second basket to
