FALL/WINTER 2015/16
FALL/WINTER EDITION 2015/16
A MESSAGE FROM THE DEPARTMENT:
Dear Members of the West Norriton Community,
We hope everyone enjoyed their spring and summer and had an
opportunity to get outside and visit our parks and playgrounds or
take part in a township community event or program. We are proud
to be a part of your experiences and are continuously looking for
ways to provide additional opportunities for you and your family
to enjoy life in our beautiful community!
2015 has been another outstanding year for the West Norriton Parks
and Recreation Department as many of our programs and special
events have grown in size. We have also made a number of
improvements to our parks system highlighted by the recent
completion of our latest major project. The Oxford Circle Park
renovation project involved a total demolition of antiquated
playground equipment and the installation of new, safe, and fun
equipment at Oxford Circle Park. The project is now 100% complete
and we encourage everyone to stop by and let the children enjoy
the new playground. (See page 11 for pictures and locations.)
As our department moves towards the upcoming fall and winter
seasons, we hope you’ll join us at one or all of several events and
activities we have planned in the coming months. Such as our
annual Free Family Movie Night, the annual Halloween parade
and party or any of the fun and exciting programs and trips we have
to offer! Please continue to read through the newsletter for more
detailed information. We look forward to seeing you soon!

PILATES
ZUMBA
The Pilates method seeks to increase the strength, flexibility
and control of the body. It is a body conditioning routine
that helps not only build flexibility, but also strength, endurance and coordination in the legs, abdominal, arms, and

center, flow, precision, and breathing are used to emphasize the concepts of core strength and stabilization. Your
powerhouse is the center of your body (your core) and if
strengthened, offers a solid foundation for any movement.

Perfect for everybody and every body! Each Zumba® class is
designed to bring people together to sweat it on.
How It Works
We take the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity
and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning
dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take
over, you’ll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called
exercise in disguise. Super effective? Check. Super fun?
Check and check.

FALL/WINTER 2015/16
2015 West Norriton Little League Year in Review
West Norriton Little League concluded its 64th
season this summer.
Here are some highlights from the 2015 season.
•
•
•
•
•
The 14U Junior Division enjoyed a successful season this year as Pat Ahmad coached them to take 2nd place in the Junior Division Colonial Cup Championship.
The 12U Major League Red Sox, coached by League Director
Aaron Warren had a very competitive season making it in
to the Colonial Cup playoff semifinals. Every player on the
team put forth a valiant effort up to the final out.
The 10U Minor League had a lot of depth this year with
2015 West Norriton Little League
some outstanding pitching. The Angels (coached by Mike
8 Year Old Tournament Team
Sergio), the Rangers (coached by John Carbone), and the
Pirates (coached by Ricky McAuliffe) all seemed to bring their “A” games every time they put on their uniforms.
League Director Gary DelBuono did a great job organizing this year’s 8U Farm League and 6U Rookie League. The
players all had a great season continuing to learn the fundamentals of baseball while having fun at the same time.
Great job!
5U Tee Ball was also a tremendously successful this year due to the organization and guidance of League Director
Chris DeMarco. The boys and girls in the Tee Ball program had a fun and exciting season and we look forward to
seeing them progress even further next year.
Our annual 8U and 9U tournaments were a huge success due to the diligent effort by Tournament Director Keith Ledger
and all of the volunteers that came together to help us host one of the best tournaments in the area for the younger
players. Complements go out to our Grounds and Facilities Director and Assistant Director, Tim Kennedy and Keith Burton.
Leagues from around the area that participated in the tournaments could not say enough about how well our fields not
only looked, but played.
Congratulations to two of WNLL’s 8U players, one of which won the homerun derby at the Flourtown tournament and the
other that took 1st place in the mixed team drills at the same tournament. Great job boys!
West Norriton Little League would like to thank all of the children, parents, volunteers, and sponsors who were and are a
part of our league. Without all of the volunteer participation and support from our sponsors we would not be able to have
a thriving league that we currently enjoy. West Norriton Little League is a 100% volunteer run organization. Every year our
volunteers continue to produce a great community based atmosphere for the children to not only learn the game of
baseball, but to create memories to look back on for years to come.
West Norriton Little League will begin its online registration for the 2016, 65th season in December of 2015.
Information about upcoming events for WNLL can be found on our website at www.WNLL.com and you can friend
us on Facebook. Please keep an eye on our website for information regarding early registration discounts to include
free indoor facility workouts starting at the end of January 2016.
