accurate order. You’ll be given an exact total including
shipping and handling. Mail or overnight the payment
to us. Payment by personal check, comopany check,
bank check or money order will require approximately
2 weeks to insure clearance of funds.

Our phone lines are open Monday through Friday

shipped within 24 hours via United Parcel Service (UPS)
Prepayment can be made by MasterCard, VISA, Discover
or American Express. If you are not home during the day,
we will accept a “ship to” address and have your order
delivered to a friend, relative, or your workplace.
Pay by PayPal
We ship worldwide and use Air Parcel Post for small and/
or lightweight orders. All large or heavyweight shipments
are sent by Air Freight. The air freight forwarder we use has
excellent rates and service. If you prefer we can also use
UPS, Federal Express, Airborne, or the carrier of your choice.
Phone or fax you order. We will then phone or fax you back
with the exact cost of the order including shipping and
handling. Payment must be made by VISA, Mastercard, or
an international money order in U.S. funds. Sorry, no bank
wire transfers. If the order is urgent, send payment by
overnight express service. Most parts orders are shipped
within 24 to 48 hours of receipt.
All we need is the email address associated with your
PayPal account and we will email a PayPal invoice to Sales Tax

No sales tax is charged on orders shipped out-of-state.

Back Orders
We try very hard to have all catalog items in stock
at all times, however, due to scarcity and long lead
times from our manufacturers, some parts can be
temporarily out of stock. If the item will be back in
stock in a short time period, you will be charged for the
part on the original order. We will ship, prepaid, as soon
as possible. Should the back-order be longer, you will
not be charged on the original invoice. Your invoice will
be noted “back-order” for any parts that were out of
stock. Back ordered items will be shipped the same day
our stock is replenished. Back orders can be cancelled
at any time, unless already shipped.

All special orders and electrical parts are non-returnable.
Parts and systems may be returned within 30 days for
a refund or exchange. Missing parts must be reported
within 5 days of receiving your order. Please call or
write for authorization before returning any part.
All returns must be uninstalled and in undamaged
factory packaging so we may resell the parts as new. All
returns must be shipped freight prepaid to C.A.A. with
a copy of the original invoice enclosed. All refunds will
be subject to a 15% administrative/ restocking charge.

Converting to 134a
Until 1995, most cars with air conditioning used R-12 Freon refrigerant that is said to have a negative
side effect of damaging the ozone layer and is no longer produced in most countries. Now, the industry
standard is R-134a, which is an efficient absorber and carrier of heat without the ozone layer damaging
issues of R-12.
Contrary to popular belief, most cars originally equipped with R-12 can be converted to 134a and still
keep you just as cool.
Recommended steps to converting your
R12 air conditioning system to 134a:
• Replace or restore all rubber hoses with barrier hose.
• Install 134a charge port adapters
• Send POA Valve in to be calibrated.
System w/o Suction Valve
Minimum Requirements
• Charge with 134a between 70-80% of the original R12
charge amount.
• Change or rebuild the filter-drier.
• Drain the compressor oil and recharge with 134a
compatible oil. (PAG or Ester Oil)
System w/Accumulator
The accumulator is most often installed on the
evaporator, near the firewall, but occasionally found in
the middle of the suction hose between the evaporator
and the compressor.
• Insure that the system is clean and
free of contaminants.*

FORD HI-PO ROTARY
COMPRESSOR UPGRADE KITS
High-performance 134a and R12 rotary compressor conversions are
supplied with a Sanden-style compressor, and all required adapter brackets,
idler pulleys, compressor hoses, o-rings, refrigerant tape and a filter-drier*.
Many hose assemblies* are pre-made with factory crimped fittings. Excellent
attention to detail makes for a very attractive under-hood appearance and an
easy installation.
High horsepower engines - No problem! These highly efficient compressors
have a continuous duty rating of 6,000 rpm and require an insignificant
amount of power to turn it.
134a Conversion Kits are identical to the R12 Kit except supplied with

• Less horsepower, better fuel economy and performance
• Original style hose assemblies for perfect fit
134a compressor and proper hose fittings for system charging. 134a removes
a higher heat load from the interior, so it is extremely important for the fan
clutch and condenser to be in excellent condition on any 134a conversion.
Although the original condenser will work, we highly recommend our new 6
circuit reproduction condenser.

What Is An Engine Compartment Upgrade Kit?
An engine compartment upgrade kit uses a high-performance 6-circuit condenser, stock replacement condenser or parallel
flow condenser (depending on application) & rotary compressor to connect to your car’s original factory a/c interior air
conditioning components, using your factory original brackets & pulleys.

Upgrade Kit to the next level by upgrading the condenser

convert to 134a except the refrigerant itself, including
Classic Auto Air’s Original Air high-performance 6-circuit
stock replacement serpentine condenser & a Sandenstyle rotary compressor design. The combination will
dramatically help improve system efficiency.
What does this kit include?
• High-performance Sanden-style compressor/clutch assembly
• All required compressor mount & idler bracket
adapter brackets*
• Original Air’s high-performance parallel-flow condenser.

Fit condenser and pre-formed tubes are designed

significantly less horsepower than a stock Ford
compressor. As little as 2-5 horsepower, compared to
10-15!

lighter than a stock Ford compressor.

• Running Engine at high RPM? These rotary compressor
can handle 6000 continuous RPM! Stock compressors can
handle much less. Build up your engine and rev it up to

design creates 30% more contact area allowing considerably
higher heat transfer rates over the stock 3 circuit tube and
significantly more than other reproductions on the market.
The aluminum serpentine (flat tube) condenser has always
been considered superior to any other design in the industry
and Original Air made it better! If your original has seen better
days or your converting to 134a refrigerant, Original Air’s high
performance reproduction condensers are the only choice.
Remember, condenser performance is the most important
factor in obtaining proper system pressures, cold temperatures
and excellent compressor reliability.

Converting to 134a
Until 1995, most cars with air conditioning used R-12 Freon refrigerant that is said to have a negative
side effect of damaging the ozone layer and is no longer produced in most countries. Now, the industry
standard is R-134a, which is an efficient absorber and carrier of heat without the ozone layer damaging
issues of R-12.
Contrary to popular belief, most cars originally equipped with R-12 can be converted to 134a and still
keep you just as cool.
Recommended steps to converting your
R12 air conditioning system to 134a:
1955-61 Models w/ Hot Gas Valve
(aka By-pass or Hot Gas By-pass Valve)
The Hot Gas Valve is most often found mounted to the
compressor, though some cars have it mounted back near
the evaporator. The front half of it looks like a bullet.
Minimum Requirements
• Change or rebuild the filter-drier.
• Drain the compressor oil and recharge with 134a
compatible oil. (PAG or Ester Oil)
• Insure that the system is clean and
free of contaminants.*
(Depending on component condition, this may be a
simple matter of blowing out with compressed air or
liquid flushing with an air-conditioning flushing agent)
NOTE - Most GM evaporators are of “Plate & Fin” design,
and cannot be liquid flushed while installed in the car.
They must be removed & rotated during flushign process.
• Replace or restore all rubber hoses with barrier hose.
• Rebuild hot gas valve.
• Install 134a charge port adapters
• Charge with 134a between 70-80% of the original R12
charge amount.
Note: Hot gas valve will need to be adjusted during
the charging process to properly adjust the low side
by-pass pressure to 20psi.
• Replace any o-rings with 134a compatible.
• Recommend: Install hi/lo pressure switch.
1962-66 Models w/Suction Throttling Valve
(aka STV)
The suction throttling valve is installed on the
evaporator, near the firewall.
Minimum Requirements
• Change or rebuild the filter-drier.
• Drain the compressor oil and recharge with 134a
compatible oil. (PAG or Ester Oil)
• Insure that the system is clean and
free of contaminants.*
(Depending on component condition, this may be a
simple matter of blowing out with compressed air or
liquid flushing with an air-conditioning flushing agent)
NOTE - Most GM evaporators are of “Plate & Fin” design,
and cannot be liquid flushed while installed in the car.
They must be removed & rotated during flushign process.

What Is An Engine Compartment Upgrade Kit?
An engine compartment upgrade kit uses a high-performance parallel-flow condenser or stock replacement condenser
(depending on application) & rotary compressor to connect to your car’s original factory a/c interior air conditioning
components, using your factory original brackets & pulleys.

-134a and R12 Engine compartment upgrades are
supplied with a Sanden-style compressor, mount
brackets*, hoses** & tubes, o-rings, hardware and
filter-drier. Excellent attention to detail makes for a
very attractive under-hood appearance and an easy
installation combined with the best performance
possible!
What does this kit include?
• High-performance Sanden-style compressor/clutch assembly
• Compressor mount brackets*
• High-performance parallel-flow condenser.
• Suction Hose
• Discharge Hose
• Liquid hose(s) and/or line(s)
• Filter-Drier
• All necessary o-rings.
• High Horsepower Engines - No problem! These high
efficiency compressors have a continuous duty rating of
6,000 rpm and require an insignificant amount of power
to turn it.
• Refrigerant “cork” tape

34a Kits are identical to the R12 Kit except supplied
with 134a compressor and proper hose fittings for
system charging.
• If you drive your car daily, then our extremely popular
rotary compressor conversion is a must have option for
your factory A/C system.
* Alan Grove Brackets available for most standard
Chevy V8 Small-Block and Big-Block engines. Pontiac &
Oldsmobbile brackets are available for stock applications
only as listed. Additional engine pulleys may be necessary.
Brackets are compatible with most headers and do not
bolt to the front of the cylinder head.

each hose. Once installation of condenser & compressor is
completed, hoses will simply need to be cut to the proper
length and have the supplied fittings crimped on.

Converting to 134a
Until 1995, most cars with air conditioning used R-12 Freon refrigerant that is said to have a negative
side effect of damaging the ozone layer and is no longer produced in most countries. Now, the industry
standard is R-134a, which is an efficient absorber and carrier of heat without the ozone layer damaging
issues of R-12.
Contrary to popular belief, most cars originally equipped with R-12 can be converted to 134a and still
keep you just as cool.
Recommended steps to converting your R12 air conditioning system to 134a:
1962 & Newer Systems
Minimum Requirements
• Change or rebuild the filter-drier.
• Drain the compressor oil and recharge with 134a compatible oil. (PAG or Ester Oil)
• Insure that the system is clean and
free of contaminants.*
(Depending on component condition, this may be a simple matter of blowing out with compressed air or liquid flushing
with an air-conditioning flushing agent)
• Replace or restore all rubber hoses with barrier hose.
• Remove EPR valve from compressor’s suction port.
• Install thermostat
• Charge with 134a between 70-80% of the original R12 charge amount.
• Replace any o-rings with 134a compatible.

MOPAR Hi-Po Rotary
Compressor Upgrade Kits
High-performance 134a and R12 rotary compressor conversions are
supplied with a Sanden-style compressor, and all required adapter brackets*,
idler pulleys, compressor hoses, o-rings, refrigerant tape and a filterdrier. Excellent attention to detail makes for a very attractive under-hood
appearance and an easy installation.
• Eliminates rumble, vibration and belt slap
* Alternate engines may require additional parts not included.
• Less horsepower, better fuel economy and performance
• 6,000 R.P.M. continuous-duty rating
High horsepower engines - No problem! These highly efficient compressors
have a continuous duty rating of 6,000 rpm and require an insignificant
amount of power to turn it.
134a Conversion Kits are identical to the R12 Kit except supplied with
134a compressor and proper hose fittings for system charging. 134a removes
a higher heat load from the interior, so it is extremely important for the fan
clutch and condenser to be in excellent condition on any 134a conversion.
Although the original condenser will work, we highly recommend our new 6
circuit reproduction condenser.
If you drive your MOPAR daily, then our extremely popular rotary
conversion is a must have option for your factory A/C system. We’ll even
take your old compressor and clutch as trade, or buy it outright when your
installation is finished.

What Is An Engine Compartment Upgrade Kit?
An engine compartment upgrade kit uses a high-performance parallel-flow condenser & rotary compressor, along with all
necessary hoses & lines to connect to your car’s original factory a/c interior air conditioning & heating components, using
your factory original engine pulleys.

What does this kit include?

to turn it.

Compartment Upgrade Kits are supplied with everything
that contains refrigerant within the system in the engine
compartment.

• Converting to 134a? - No problem! With the addition
of the parallel flow condenser, your car will get every bit
as cold of temperatures as the original R12 system. We
can also build these units for R12.

conversion process.
