the 2nd Annual T he Duck Plucker’s Ball is an opportunity for sportsmen throughout the region to celebrate the outdoors and support the efforts of the William Penn Athletic Booster Club to provide facilities and equipment for athletes from William Penn University, Oskaloosa Community Schools, and the surrounding areas. Proceeds from the 2012 Duck Plucker’s Ball helped purchase track & field equipment for the Stadium at Lacey Complex. This equipment is used for the Oskaloosa Relay’s on April 13, 2013, the MCC Conference multi-event competition (heptathlon and decathlon), the Statesmen Relays on April 19–20, and the MCC Conference Meet on May 3–4. Each of these events bring hundreds of athletes, coaches and spectators into our community. The university-affiliated support organization helps fund projects for William Penn’s athletic programs that are often outside of the normal operating budget. Boosters are also given the opportunity to attend luncheons throughout the year, highlighting our athletic programs and vote monthly for the male and female player of the month. The organization is a proud sponsor of the William Penn University Athletic Hall of Fame, to honor graduates deserving special recognition for their success and commitment to their respective athletic program(s) while a student or coach on campus. As a member of a NAIA Champions of Character institution, the Booster Club proudly presents the Dana Atkins Award each year to the senior student-athlete with the highest GPA. Duck Plucker’s Ball A Fundraiser Sponsored by the Proceeds will benefit WPU Athletics, the Oskaloosa School District, and Mahaska County recreation programs by supporting continued progress at the Stadium at Lacey Recreation Complex.
