Registration Page 3 4 5 6 7-9 10 - 15 17 - 19 21 22 23 REGISTRATION INFORMATION REGISTRATION POLICIES AND PROCEDURES Online registration is our preferred method and is highly recommended. You may register for programs and Beach memberships online and will receive a receipt of your transaction sent to your email. Registrations are still first come-first served so you will be able to register early at your convenience. Go to our website www.waylandrec.com You may call our office at 508-358-3660 to register, mail in your registration form, fax it to 508-358-3665, or drop by our office as long as space is available, but there is a chance that you‘ll have to wait and spots may fill quickly. REFUND POLICY Our classes are supported solely by fees. If you need to cancel a program, you must do so at least 10 business days before a program begins for a refund minus the administrative fee. After that time, no refunds are given except for medical reasons with a doctor’s note. Requests for refunds must be in writing with a short explanation. Refunds may take 4-6 weeks for processing. Cancelled classes due to low enrollment will be fully refunded. An administrative fee of $10 will be retained per person per program for youth withdrawals from fall, winter, spring programs, $20 for summer programs, and $10 for all adult programs. CANCELLATIONS DUE TO WEATHER No programs are held when school has been cancelled. We will make every effort to contact participants by email if a program is cancelled (at least 2 hrs. prior to start of class). If a program is cancelled, we will notify you when, and if, it will be made up. Make-ups, if possible, are at the end of a program -- follow the normal schedule until you hear from the Recreation Office. This is a great event for the whole family. The 5K will be a timed event starting at 11am followed by a 1-Mile Fun Run around our paved Haskell Field loop. NASHOBA VALLEY SKI & SNOWBOARD PROGRAM 5 WINTER SKI & SNOWBOARD PROGRAM (Wayland residents only) Brought to you by Wayland Recreation Department & Nashoba Valley Registration deadline is Tuesday, December 1st. Program fills quickly. Please register early to avoid disappointment. WHO: 3rd - 8th graders from Middle School, Happy Hollow, Claypit Hill and Loker Schools WHEN: Mondays - 6 sessions DATES: Jan. 4, 11, 25 Feb. 1, 8, 22 LESSON: 4:15pm FEE: To Be Determined (more information will be available in our Winter Brochure and on our website, waylandrec.com, in the coming weeks) We’re looking for Chaperones! Chaperones will receive a $100 credit toward their child’s ski registration! See details below. Please Note: There is a $60 non-refundable fee to guarantee buses. After Dec. 4 there can be no withdrawals or refunds. Per Recreation Policy, all students who ride the bus to Nashoba MUST return to Wayland on the bus - NO exceptions. When registering, please make sure to select the correct program: Downhill or Snowboard (both include a lesson) or No Lesson (Middle School students only). Nashoba is no longer offering a Racing Program through the Recreation Department. Students interested in the Racing Program are asked to contact Nashoba directly for more information at 978-692-3033. Children are picked up by bus from the school they attend (Wayland Middle School, Happy Hollow, Claypit and Loker) and driven to Nashoba Valley Ski Area. Parent/Participant Information Packet will be e-mailed in early December so be sure to include your e-mail address when registering. max 42 per bus TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION: Buses pick up children at the Middle School at 2:25pm and Elementary Schools at 3:05pm and ALL BUSES RETURN TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL at approximately 6:45pm. PLEASE BE PROMPT for pick up. There is no skiing if school is cancelled or we have deteriorating road conditions at 11:45am. An email will be sent to parents. Call 508-358-3660 if in doubt. For safety reasons, children misbehaving on buses will be asked to leave the program and no refunds will be given. EQUIPMENT RENTAL FITTING: Wayland Town Building Large Hearing Room, Tuesday, December 1, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Nashoba Valley Rental Shop Staff will be at the Town Building Hearing Room to fit equipment. The rental fee for skis and snowboards is $110 at the fitting. Please bring cash or check - NO credit cards. Helmets ($60) available for purchase...limited supply. Any child not fitted on December 1, MUST BE FITTED at the ski area before the start of the program, and the yellow rental slip must be dropped off at the Recreation office by Friday, December 11. A child will not be able to ski the first day unless prior fitting rental arrangements have been made. CHAPERONES NEEDED! These programs are made possible in large part due to parent volunteers. Please consider being a chaperone this year. We require two chaperones on each bus from every school. We are offering our chaperones a $100 credit toward their child’s ski program registration (one child per family). Chaperones also ski for FREE and get FREE rentals. Chaperones are not required to ski to volunteer. You’ve always been enamored with glassblowing, Over the course of this fun 2 hour class students will learn basic so why not be adventurous and give it a try? Learn the process techniques used in metal working. A Denault Studios artisan will of manipulating glass using a torch. Learn Wednesday, September 16 This course is designed for children who are unattended strategies for the babysitter, first aid and choke saving techniques at home for short periods of time. Children learn telephone as well as mealtime, bedtime, diapering and discipline. Issues and door answering techniques, accident and fire prevention, of contracts and ethics are also covered. A police presentation and first aid skills. CREATIVE MOVEMENT NE Thursdays W Designed for the young dancer ready for a structured dance class. Props such as ribbons, wands, parachute, and hoops will encourage children and keep them engaged as they learn balance, coordination, and body awareness. Ballet terminology and movements will be incorporated and taught to children’s music. Each class will focus on a new dance element, encourage learning, and offer your dancer the opportunity to move freely. All dance levels are welcome. Please wear comfortable clothing: Ballet shoes and dancewear are encouraged. POLYMER CLAY CLASS - THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF MINIATURES NEW Wednesday Learn to create fantastic detailed miniature sculptures out of colorful Sculpy Clay. We will create mini environments and homes, custom beads and characters, fondant style cakes, decorative tiles, character key chains and more. Project will come to life as we explore marbleizing techniques, resin and findings. Classes will be in a creative, fun and relaxing environment. Sept. 23 - Nov. 18 (no class 11/11) INTRODUCTION TO VIOLIN WITH SUZUKI METHOD Tuesday Our group violin classes are centered around creative and playful activities including exercises, movement, and song. Children build strong beginner skills in a positive, encouraging atmosphere. Teacher, child and parent work together, with parents learning alongside their child in class and as partners at home. "Graduates" will be ready to transition to level 2 class and/or individual instruction, as desired. Instruments are provided! The Suzuki method is ideal for this age group, and has a 60 year history of success with young children worldwide. At the end of each lesson the tricks that were taught are written in easy to follow booklets to take home. Many of Joe's tricks that are sold commercially are also given away. All equipment is included. Parents are welcome to attend with their child. See Joe perform at our Touch a Truck event on Saturday, September 26th! TEEN CERAMICS DANCEMIX Thursday (Ballet, Jazz, and more!) NEW Saturdays Great for all skill levels. Learn the basics or expand your skills.
