FIRST EDITION: 08/03
INTRODUCTION
• The present publication describes all the necessary steps for the troubleshooting concerning the electric system (of
the models indicated on the front page) and of the possible service operations, which are necessary for their solution.
It supplies the trade technicians (Authorized Customer Service Centres) with the necessary information for operating
in compliance with the modern concepts of "good practice" and "work safety".
• Further information can be derived from the "Cycling Section" of the workshop manual - from the Engine Section of the
workshop manual - from the Spare Parts catalogue.
• All described operations require the necessary skill and experience by the technicians.
• The steps for the removal of body parts and of electric and mechanical components, to allow the access to wiring or
electric components to service, can be taken from the Cycling Section of the Workshop Manual.
• We recommend to follow with care the information given in this publication.
• For any further information you may need, refer to Malaguti Customer Service Department.
PUBLICATION UPDATES
• The up-date pages of this publication will be delivered by us (in due course) already punched and therefore ready for
insertion in the Manual.
The superseded sheets should not be removed from the manual as they remain applicable to the servicing of premodified models.
• The table of contents will be duly updated in case of the insertion of new pages causing difficulty in the rational
consultation of the manual.

• IMPORTANT! The manual for the electric system troubleshooting is to be considered as an essential work instrument
to be properly kept up-to-date so as to maintain its “validity” over time.

SWITCHES CONNECTION ILLUSTRATED IN THIS
MANUAL
RIGHT
COMANDO
CONTROL
DX
• This manual contains diagrams as the one here beside, which illustrate
the connections of the switches terminals (key switch, brake switch,
mode push button, etc...).
• The first column from the left indicates the different positions of the
switch, the upper line indicates the colors of the cables connected to the
terminals of the switch.
• The symbol “
“ indicates those terminals in which there is continuity,
that is to say a close circuit, in a determined position of the switch.
• In this diagram:
“BL/B” and “R” have continuity with the switch in “ON” position.
IGNITION SYSTEM CIRCUIT

ELECTRIC STARTER
• The carburettor has been equipped with an “electric starter”, supplied with direct current.
• As soon as the starting takes place, the starter is supplied with voltage; then, warming up, starts its disconnection
function, by closing the hole of the carburetor’s rich mixture control.
Once the electric starter is completely disconnected, the engine idle should be lowered, by setting it on a standard
speed (1600 ÷ 1800 rev./min.)
• Should the engine idle be too fast, proceed as follows:
KEY SWITCH SUPPLY
A) “Electric starter” voltage check
• Disconnect the starter connector.
• Connect the tester (DC 20V) to the wiring harness
connector, as follows (F. 22):
