Construction of this 18-story, $102 million project
has advanced swiftly since its groundbreaking in
June 2014. 833 East combines LEED-certified design
with state-of-the-art technology and premium tenant
amenities throughout its 358,000 sq. ft. of Class A
space. While occupancy is not scheduled until March
2016, 833 East is more than 65 percent leased with
commitments from anchor tenant Godfrey & Kahn, as
well as Irgens, Colliers International, Jason Inc., First
American, Cresa Milwaukee, Catalyst Construction
and Rare Steakhouse which will occupy the building’s
first floor.
This iconic 32-story tower will join a three-story
complex spanning two blocks for a total of 1.1
million sq. ft., as well as three acres of public green
space. The flagship property will preserve 1,100
downtown jobs while creating 1,900 new ones.
Construction is underway on the $450 million
world headquarters and is expected to be complete
in 2017. Northwestern Mutual announced in
September 2015 that it is exceeding its construction
hiring commitment on the project. In October 2015,
Northwestern Mutual announced a companion mixeduse tower featuring apartments, retail and parking.
This historic rehabilitation of the century-old Posner
Building on West Wisconsin Avenue is being led by
HKS Holdings. Currently home to Mo’s Irish Pub, the
building’s upper floors will boast 105 market-rate
apartments as of September 2015. As part of this
redevelopment, the developer is also seeking tenants
for 8,000 sq. ft. of new ground-floor commercial
space along Wisconsin Avenue – a critical component
to the continued renaissance of the Westown
neighborhood.

_________________________________
The City, County and State, along with the new
Milwaukee Bucks’ owners, are working diligently to
keep the city’s professional basketball in Downtown
Milwaukee. This game-changing project is expected
to be a main catalyst in spurring up to $500 million
of additional development in the vacant Park East
corridor, as well as the site of the current arena. The
multi-phase development is anticipated to contain
residential, commercial, hospitality and public uses
that will reshape the local economy and enhance the
image of downtown on a national and international
scale.
After receiving final city approval in February 2015,
The Milwaukee Streetcar is moving forward. A
streetcar vehicle vendor will be selected fall 2015
and public utility relocations will begin. In addition,
RFPs for the system’s main line, operations and
maintenance facility will be distributed. Mainline
construction is expected to start in 2016 with
service slated to begin the second half of 2018. The
2.5-mile starter route and lakefront extension has a
project budget of $123.9 million and will connect the
Milwaukee Intermodal Station, Historic Third Ward,
Lakefront, East Town and Lower East Side.
The North End & Fresh Thyme
Farmers Market
_________________________________
With beginning phases completed in 2009, this eightacre neighborhood by design along the east banks of the
Milwaukee River features market-rate apartments and
ground-floor retail space. The third phase of The North
End, currently under construction, will include 168
apartments, the area’s first 28,000 sq. ft. Fresh Thyme
Farmers Market and parking. Phase 3 is expected to
be complete during the fall of 2015. The first three
phases will combine with the recently approved fourth
phase to cap off a multi-year redevelopment featuring
approximately 650 total apartments.
This ongoing list represents active and publicly announced projects in Downtown Milwaukee.
This list is compiled and maintained by Milwaukee Downtown through a variety of independent sources.
