Nearly 40 years ago, KICKER’s Livin’ Loud legacy began
as a two-man operation, hand-building professionalspeaker systems in a narrow one-car garage. With very
few resources and an intense love for music, company
founder and current president Steve Irby invented the
mobile-stereo enclosure market in his northern Oklahoma
community when he developed the Original KICKER®. It
was the first full frequency-range speaker box designed
for cars and trucks.
From that historic moment, delivering concert-like audio
quality across a wide volume range with renowned bass
and accurate sound has always been the KICKER way.
Building upon the success of that concept, KICKER has
continued to do huge things in the car-audio industry,
focusing on raising the world’s expectations for superior
audio performance with rumbling subwoofers, crystalclear speakers and powerful amplifiers.
Gracing the picturesque Stillwater, Okla., skyline, KICKER
has stayed true to the values on which it was built. Many

biggest-selling square woofer has had lots of imitators.
It’s the “innovative square subwoofer technology that increases output enough
to give users the equivalent performance of the next size larger round speaker.”
But did you know Solo-Baric started as simply the world’s first “small-box”
subwoofer, and round?
The very first Solo-Baric was introduced in 1992, a round subwoofer that
applied isobaric design principles to a single woofer in an extraordinarily
compact sealed enclosure. At the time, that enclosure was the smallest in
mobile-audio history.
The eight-inch Solo-Baric subwoofer featured that signature, tight thump from
a tiny enclosure of only 0.33 cubic feet. And we still receive emails and phone
calls from consumers who continue to use or have questions about our round
Solo-Baric subwoofers.
In 2003, KICKER’s square sub was patented. Others tried to copy the superior
workmanship with their own square imposters, but the honors bestowed upon
the KICKER square left no doubt which subwoofer was legit. By 2003, the
world’s first square sub also became the only patented square. Year after year,
consecutive media, consumer choice and industry awards have confirmed that
Solo-Baric square is the standard by which others are judged.
