In French style Historic Louis XV fireplace in French limestone with a warm patina; the antique cabinet hides the television. Reclaimed oak floor with untreated surface. Over recent years, Costermans has built up a solid reputation as a construction company for exclusive villa projects. The house in this report, built in a French style, is a good example of Costermans’ working methods: the use of durable materials throughout, together with enthusiasm, skill and a strong focus on the interior, with a timelessly classic design. www.costermans-projecten.be 14 Old Burgundy slabs have been combined with warm shades of claret. 15 AN UNDERSTATED HOLIDAY HOME IN RAMATUELLE Christel De Vos created this newly built villa in Ramatuelle, in collaboration with Nathalie Mousny. The house was given a stucco finish and painted white; only the roof tiles reveal a Provençal inspiration. Sofas by Meridiani in white cotton. 21 The existing beams have been painted white to make the ceiling less dominant and to create a contrast with the aged oak floor. In the background, a monochrome work by Renaat Ivens. A COMPLEMENTARY WHOLE This beautiful long-fronted farmhouse, one of architect Raymond Rombouts’ unique creations, has recently been renovated by interior architect Alexis Herbosch (Apluz design studio). At the request of the owners, an extension was built and the interior of the farmhouse completely renovated. Alexis Herbosch and the owner (both keen enthusiasts of Rombouts’ work) worked together to achieve harmony between the existing house and the extension. The harmony of the proportions and the use of materials resulted in a complementary whole: it looks as though the extension has always been there. www.herbosch-vanreeth.be 26 www.amprojects.be The existing open fireplace was taken out to make room for this serene design. On the table, two old earthenware vessels from the 18th century, which are amongst the objects selected by the interior architect and his wife. Against the wall, a French dresser, supplied by am Projects. 27 A HIGH-QUALITY APARTMENT WITH HOTEL SERVICE IN GENEVA This apartment in the heart of the historic centre of Geneva is in a listed building with a view of Cathédrale Saint-Pierre and is part of Welton Design’s “Concept Lodge”, which offers high-quality apartments with hotel service. The property promoter Brigitte Boiron and designer John-Paul Welton have completely revitalised the place. The selection of furniture with modern lines lends a definite cachet to the apartment, which forms the ideal base for enjoying the high quality of life in Geneva. www.projectdesign.ch 38 The floor of the sitting room is in waxed concrete. Linen curtains by Osborne & Little. A round wengé table from the “Sensation” collection by Welton Design. A leather sofa from Welton Design’s “Samira” collection. The white lacquer console is also a piece by Welton Design (“Harmony” collection). A cowhide armchair from the “Alana” collection by Welton Design. www.weltondesign.com 39 A WARM TOUCH The common thread throughout the house is the uniformity of colours and materials: an off-white colour from the Obumex paint pallet was chosen for the whole house (for walls and ceilings) in combination with a play of dark woods from the Obumex collection and details in solid bronze. An artwork by Jason Martin. An artwork by Liam Gullick in this TV and desk area. As one of the few modern homes in the surrounding, the atmosphere of the contemporary architecture continues indoors: large and high rooms with a lot of light, and the use of sober materials in a tight framework. Obumex’s design still results in an interior with a warm touch, the natural materials, the shades of grey outside and white inside, the balanced colour packages, with here and there a contemporary accent. This is a project that is fully designed, implemented and co-ordinated by Obumex. www.obumex.be 156 157 164 165 AUSTERE AND PLEASANT Christel De Vos (RR Interior Concepts) created a complete austere and yet pleasant interior for this architectural home, where straight lines predominate. This very spacious, bright house shows a few dark accents in the furniture too. Leather from Minotti, Walter Knoll and Cor give a severe look to the interior. The high-gloss lacquer in the chairs by Arper are in balance with the materials used. The work of the photographer Marc Lagrange (available at RR Interior Concepts) has been given a unique place in this interior. Kelly Hoornaert, who works with Obumex as an interior architect, was entrusted with the task of designing and coordinating this project. This apartment, with its splendid view of the yachting marina on the Med, is the epitome of homeliness and sheer relaxation. The natural materials and soft colours form a timeless whole, along with a few surprisingly clear works of art for good measure. The spatial arrangement of the apartment has optimised the available surface area: the areas visually blend into one another but nevertheless maintain their particular function thanks to the use of a different colour scheme, a difference in the floor level or a change in the floor covering. The bar was created in dark stained oak with a back wall made of lilac lacquered glass. The fireplace is coated with Zebrano wood with a high-gloss finish. The chaises longues are by Christian Liaigre. www.obumex.be 200 201
