In so doing, the PIL Hall of Fame has become a visible support group for the Portland Interscholastic League. During the past year, the Association, consisting of a 32-member Board of Directors, has sponsored the PIL Hall of Fame Induction Banquet, the PIL Hall of Fame Golf Tournament in September at Broadmoor Golf Club, and the “Celebration of Champions” Awards Ceremony in May at the Tiger Woods Center on the Nike Campus. The Association also has secured major corporate sponsorships from Joe’s Sports & Outdoor, Les Schwab Tire Centers, Realty Trust Group, the Portland Tribune, and our newest sponsor, Papa Murphy’s Pizza. Funds provided by these corporate sponsors are used to enhance the athletic programs in the 10 PIL High Schools and to provide scholarships to outstanding male and female athletes from each of the schools. In addition to the above activities, the Portland Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame Association, in conjunction with Joe’s Sports & Outdoor, revived the PIL Football Jamboree which was held on August 30th at Madison High School. The PIL Hall of Fame will continue to reach out for additional sponsorships, enhance its Golf Tournament and solicit the support of more former PIL Athletes as it strives to assist the 6,000-plus Student-Athletes in the Portland Interscholastic League. Congratulations to the Induction Class of 2007 and thanks to all of those in attendance for making this event one that we will all remember.
