Our Business Directory
The Lumby and District Chamber of Commerce works hard to
serve its members and the community by promoting our area and
local businesses. This directory continues to be an important part
of our annual initiatives.
The directory comes in two parts. The first part, featuring
Chamber members, is a listing of businesses according to
categories. For example if you would like to find a caterer look
under “catering”. Each chamber member has a full description of
pertinent information including contact persons and a full-color
business card if that has been made available. This part can be
found in pages 12 - 59.
The second part of the directory features all businesses (both
chamber and non-chamber) in an alphabetical listing like the white
pages of the phone book. Name, mailing address and street
address, as well as phone and fax numbers are the basic fields in
this listing. The alphabetical listings are on pages 60-77.
If you are not presently a chamber member and would like to
receive an enhanced listing showcasing your business, go to page
79, where you can read up on the benefits of membership, and on
the rear cover of the directory you can fill out an application

Serving Lumby’s business community as the “Voice of Business”: the
Chamber will work “to facilitate, enhance and improve Lumby’s
unique quality of life, to support positive and sustainable development,
and to encourage growth in commerce and industry for the prosperity
of its members and the Lumby area.”
Sound economic development is the primary focus of the Chamber as it
works to advance the areas of commercial, industrial, civic, social and
general interests so that citizens in all areas of the community are
available to access services.
The Chamber of Commerce is a catalyst – a vehicle through which
business and professional people work together for the common good
of the community.
The Chamber symbolizes the efforts, visions and spirits that a
community exercises to solve problems and achieve the dream of
building and improving.

Active Community
Ambassador Program
The program is designed to increase positive community engagement for
Volunteers, and Seniors alike to plan and participate in activities utilizing
their experience and education to develop community involvement and
interaction while receiving training as Visitor Information Counsellors
and Ambassadors
Who are we Looking For? Volunteers interested in promoting the
community further through their organizations i.e.: acting as Ambassador
at their Community Organization Events so individuals already acting as
volunteers who would like additional training.
Enthusiastic Individuals who have knowledge of the community and
have additional time to spare and who would like to share in additional
community promotion opportunities are encouraged to join.
What’s Involved? The Ambassador program will provide training as a
Visitor Information Counselor and ask that individuals be willing to
participate as Ambassadors at a Minimum of Three Events throughout
the year to be determined on an individual basis. In addition
Ambassadors are welcome to volunteer within the Visitor Centre as
much as they would like and scheduling around individual needs and
abilities will be considered. We welcome as much involvement as individuals are able to dedicate to the Program.
What’s The Benefits? Be part of a new Team, Individuals will receive
training and be provided resources such as uniforms and tablets to help
with their duties as Ambassadors. Ambassadors will be recognized
within various publications in their efforts to support a positive community through interaction and
involvement.

Lumby - Gateway to
the Monashee
Lumby is situated on Highway 6,
24 km east of Vernon and is often referred
to as the Gateway to the Monashee. The
area bounds with mountain lakes, popular
with the fishermen and hikers.
Although the Village of Lumby has
been incorporated since 1955, its history
begins with a gold rush in the Cherry Creek
area in 1862 and was followed by men of
St. Anicet, Quebec looking for land to
pre-empt and settle their families.
For many decades Lumby saw
residents employed in the farming and
logging sectors, but today work is defined
in a much broader scope. Our business
services are quite extensive. New
developments are attracting people wanting
a friendly, small town atmosphere.
For a small town, Lumby has a
multitude of services and activities for
people of all ages and interests. As well as
all the outdoor activities, there is a hockey
rink and curling rink, community hall and
tennis court. In summer the outdoor
swimming pool is open for lessons, aqua
fit, free time, swimming club activities, and
competitions, and right next to the pool
you’ll find a children’s spray park. As well,
the salmon trails have outdoor exercise
equipment.
The community is served by a library,
health clinic, ambulance, RCMP, banks,
restaurants, retail shops, a modern
volunteer fire department, and many
businesses.
If you have questions about our
community, the Visitor Centre is located at
1882 Vernon Street in downtown Lumby
and is open 7 days a week, 9 am to 5 pm in
June, July and August. The rest of the year
it is open during the week from 9 am to 1
pm.
