Brighter Colors - Large Format Printers
Brighter Colors for soft-signage, flags interior decor, banners & clothing Nicholas Hellmuth Photographs by Hellmuth and Maria Renee Ayau Dye-Sub + Heat Transfer Wide-Format out in the Real World: Site-Visit Case-Study Recently we visited a printing company which specializes exclusively in high quality dye-sublimation printing on cotton. We will be preparing a separate FLAAR Report on his workflow and his equipment, but first we want to share his colorful results with you. Mr. Lia, DECAIR, and Dr. Nicholas Hellmuth, FLAAR. II 1 Maria Renée Ayau, Technical writer for FLAAR Reports. All samples shown here are printed with Hongsam dye sublimation inks. 2 3 There are two ways to print onto polyester: • • 4 Dye-sublimation onto transfer paper (then sublimating in a heat press) or Disperse dye ink, direct to fabric • Water-based • Oil-based • Solvent based 5 6 7 I have seen remarkable color from direct-to-fabric (ATPColor and DigiFab) but an alternative is printing onto transfer paper. The printing company we visited uses transfer paper. The results are frankly gorgeous. In the separate report on the workflow we show what equipment he uses; but in the meantime, we wanted to share with you his results. 8 9 If you would like to learn more about dye sublimation ink, Hongsam has experience in the entire workflow: the printers, the media, their ink, and heat setting the final print. www.hongsam.cn www.ink4you.com 10 [email protected]
