Please read before making your booking: Performances are now available to book Each performance costs £200 unless you have received a subsidised slot from your Local Councillor, Area Action Partnership or Town Council. The programme sells very quickly so please book early to avoid disappointment The bands are a departure from a traditional band, often tour worldwide and are self contained Weather permitting why not hold your performance outside which will offer parents the chance to get involved too The Brass Education Programme is a perfect opportunity to introduce your pupils to brass music in a new and exciting way with movement and dance a part of most performances so prepare to be on your feet dancing and clapping. The bands will arrive at least 30 minutes before their performance time and we ask that you provide: A secure room for the band to store belongings, change into costume, and sound check instruments Schools will not be required to provide lunch for the band but refreshments before/ after their performance would be appreciated. The bands from overseas will not hold a DBS check; however a volunteer chaperone will be escorting the band at all times and we ask that at least one teacher is present at all times during the visit The bands are also touring community centres during the festival. With a singer, two drummers, two trumpets, tuba, trombone and two saxophones, the band creates a unique sound and live experience that leaves no audience untouched. The bands style has been described as a revolutionary fusion of jazz, funk, hip hop and world styles". www.beatnblow.de/ Funky Style Brass (10 band members from France) Available: Thurs 17th and Fri 18th July Morning/Afternoon Graduates of Conservatoire National de Toulouse, France, Funky Style Brass combine showmanship, quirky costumes, infectious music and dance with boundless energy; audiences beware… there’s no escape www.funkystylebrass.net New York Brass Band (7 band members from the UK) Dates Available: Fri 11th, Mon 14th– Fri 18th July Morning/Afternoon New York Brass Band is a 7 piece line up of percussion, sax, trumpets, trombones and sousaphone. They are North Yorkshires only contemporary New Orleans inspired brass band. Funky music that gets people dancing and a band that makes the audience feel part of the show. www.newyorkbrassband.co.uk Oompha Brass (5 band members from the UK) Dates Available: Fri 11th, Mon 14th—Fri 18th July Morning/Afternoon Oompah Brass started out with the firm intention of becoming a traditional German oompah band. they quickly realised that novel arrangements of pop tunes carried more appeal than the waltzes, polkas and marches more commonly associated with the genre. The regular line up of two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba make up the five pioneering members. Jaipur Kawa from India Dates Available Fri 11th, Mon 14th— Fri 18th July Morning/Afternoon Hailing from a long family lineage of musicians and sharing his life between Jaipur and Paris, Hameed Khan Kawa, a tabla maestro and artistic director of Musafir, has known the sound of the brass band since his birth. In its native place, Rajasthan, the brass band is a feature of life itself. Exposed to different musical styles – jazz, Western traditional music, Indian music – Hameed developed the idea of creating a brass band of his own to present the fantastic sound of the Indian Brass Band. Kolektif Isanbul (6 band members from Turkey) Dates available: Fri 11th, Mon 14th—Fri 18th July Morning/afternoon Koletif Istanbul music is mainly based on traditional Turkish repertoires. Then with a funky and jazzy touch they double the tempo and energy. The band members play Gayda (traditional Bulgarian Bagpipes),clarinet, sax, accordion, tuba, percussions and drums. Hannabiel & Midnight Blue Available: Tue 15th— Fri 18th July Morning/Afternoon The Ladies of Midnight Blue are the female component of the band Hannabiell & Midnight Blue. As a duet, they have performed all over the world. Their music consists of powerful and upbeat combinations of percussion, brass, vocal chants, and mbira compositions that creates the perfect party atmosphere and summons audience participation. Les Bomb Zatomik (6 Band Members from France) Dates Available: Fri 11th, Mon 14th—Fri 18th July Morning/Afternoon The Bomb'ZatomiK are an all woman band from France playing their brass instruments with a grain of madness.
