ome of the best creative
talent in the jewellery industry
have once again outdone
themselves in the 2014 edition of
the JMA International Jewelry Design
Competition. Organised by the
Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’
Association (HKJMA) and Hong
Kong Jewelry Express, the contest
serves as a vital platform for young
designers and established jewellery
manufacturers to interact, exchange
ideas and turn design concepts into
spectacular works of art.
Working around the theme
“Colourful,” the competition drew
250 entries, 60 percent of which
were from overseas. Ultimately,
14 designs made it to the finals.
Bringing these creative ideas to life
were some of the most well-known
jewellery manufacturers in the region.
The “Graceful Phoenix” brooch
took home the Champion and
Best Craftsmanship Awards.
Manufactured by Dai Sun Jewellery
Co Ltd, the brooch is embellished
with diamonds, sapphires, rubies,
green garnets and mother-of-pearl
shells in 18-karat rose gold. The
Phoenix wing is detachable and may
be worn as an individual earring.
