Today’s South Barre and Barre Plains are classic examples of mill villages and White Valley was lost to watershed protection for Boston in the 1930s. The Barre Wool Combing Company no longer operates and the Charles G. Allen Company has downsized to a shadow of its past. Many Greek Revival homes and public buildings grace the town Common. Today, Barre is a comfortable agricultural suburb. ❦ R M Information depicted on this map is for planning purposes only.
