Helicopteros del Sur
We are a Peruvian company dedicated to provide helicopter
transportation services. We are the leader company of the
Peruvian market for non regular air transportation of cargo and
passengers.
Since operations began in 1994 our helicopters have flown
more than 70,000 hours transporting 320,000 tons of cargo and
513,000 passengers for our clients. We have been involved in
some of the most important mining, petroleum, and
infrastructure development projects in Peru as well as in
activities such as exploration, prospecting, and geophysical
surveys.
In 1996, Aviacion del Sur S.A. (Aviasur) company was created to
operate in the Peruvian Amazon region and collaborate with
the projects of Helisur according to the terms of the technical
collaboration agreement subscribed by both parties.

(Aviasur) are certified by the Direccion General de Aeronautica
Civil - DGAC - (Peruvian Civil Aeronautics Direction) to carry out
“aerial operations of external cargo with helicopters” and
“aerial operations of non regular air transportation of cargo
and mail, special aerial transportation”.
Certificates and Authorizations issued by
the Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil of Peru.

Personnel
We have a high-quality staff of pilots, co-pilots, and flight
engineers with extensive experience accumulated over years of
operation carried out in the support of mining and petroleum
activities in some of the most remote regions of Peru.
All our pilots are selected with a 3000 flight hours minimum
experience. The average experience of the current flight crews
exceeds 6000 flight hours on our type of helicopters.
Our maintenance organization superbly specialized with trained
personnel and supervised by Russian experts provides efficient
technical support oriented towards safety and continued
service for our clients.

Operational
Operation al Capacity
We operate a fleet of nine Helicopters MI-8MTV type one MI171 type each with the capacity to transport up to 21
passengers or 4 tons of internal or external cargo. Our
helicopters are ideal for the geographic diversity of Peruvian
terrain.
Our maintenance base, certified by MIL Helicopter Plant and
located close to the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima
allows us to provide our fleet with maximum quality support
and the highest technical capacity.
Our operations and maintenance personnel is the most
experienced in the market. We have an advanced instruction
system supported by expert advisors from Russia and all the
key technical positions in the organization are held by
specialized Aeronautical Engineers.

Our Fleet
Our Helicopters MI-8MTV type have a configuration for both
internal and external cargo loads. The cabin has a volume of 23
cubic meters (813 cu ft.) with dimensions of 5.3 x 2.5 x 1.8 m.
They have large rear clamshell and sliding side doors which are
ideal for the great diversity of cargo including internal
transportation and extra-length cargo with partially opened or
removed rear doors. Reinforced cabin floors allow the
transportation of hard and heavy cargo.
Equipped with external cargo slung, our helicopters can also be
used in construction projects. Oversized freight may be carried
as underslung load via the external hook with 4,000 kg capacity.

The technical performance of our MI-8MTV helicopters
allows us to perform internal and external cargo operations
throughout the geographically varied territory of Peru.

Fleet Increase
We have recently increased our fleet with one Helicopter MI171 type with capacity to transport up to 24 passenger in
armchair seats or 3.5 tons of external load. This aircraft can be
equipped for VIP flights.
This Helicopter has the same flight performances that the
Helicopters MI-8MTV-1 have. It has the capacity of operating
with the high temperatures of the rainforest and the rugged
geography of the Andes. It has a system of lateral fuel tank size
of special autonomy which allows a 3 hours flight.
This aircraft has Certificate Type for both operational versions,
which correspond to the USA airworthiness standards FAR Part
29, and the Federal Aeronautics Regulations of Russia AP Part
29.
The Helicopter MI-171 has navigation equipments which
include meteorological radar, VOR/ILS, DME, Transponder. All
of them allow performing Instrumental Flights (IFR).

Support and Maintenance
The maintenance system of all our aircraft has been developed
in accordance with the policies indicated in our General
Maintenance Manual based on the Continual Airworthiness
Maintenance Program and the Maintenance System
Equivalence Manual following the guidelines of the designer
bureaus and of the manufacturers.

Documentation. All our documentation is approved by
the Direction of Civil Aeronautics of Peru (DGAC) and is
designed according to the guidelines of FAR standards
and of the aircraft manufacturers and designers.
Staff. Performance of all levels of maintenance work
required by the aircraft is developed by our properly
qualified, licensed, and experienced mechanics and
avionics experts ensuring the continued operability of
all aircraft in our fleet.
Suppliers. We maintain support and supply contracts
with manufacturers of components of our fleet which
are suppliers authorized by the Russian Aeronautics
Authorities guaranteeing quality and traceability of all
parts and pieces that we use.
Infrastructure. Our well supplied main warehouse
located in the city of Lima provides efficient delivery of
main components, supplies and replacement parts to
our aircraft operating throughout the territory of Peru.

Maintenance Center
Our maintenance center is located next to the Jorge Chavez
International Airport in the city of Lima.
It is the only such center in Latin America to have Mil Helicopter
Plant Certification giving us the capacity to overhaul MIL
aircraft.
We have certified technical and operative capacity to perform
all the maintenance and overhaul work for aircraft MI-8MT, MI17, MI-8MTV, MI-17-1V, MI-8AMT and MI-171 type.
All the work that is carried out in our facilities follows the
documentation and guidelines of the company that designed
the aircraft, Mil Helicopter Plant, as well as of local and
international maintenance standards.
Russian experts and technical specialists working for our
company on a permanent basis provide the experience and
knowledge necessary to ensure that work is carried out with the
technical level required to provide maximum safety and
trustworthiness to our clients.
