CUT DOWN THOSE CHAINS!!!
Thanks to the hundreds of people who participated in the Chamber’s Oktoberfest
After Hours event (on Oct. 22), hosted by the Village Shopping Center businesses
on Hildebrand Way. The event, which included more than 20 participating businesses
and a fun treasure hunt for raffle prizes, was produced by the Chamber and sponsored
by Kitsap Credit Union. Besides tours of the businesses, Tyrolean hats, Bavarian-style
food, a beer “sampler” at selected stops, and a genuine Oompah band, the event included
a ceremonial opening of the “chain gate” separating Hildebrand and Ericksen.
Special thanks to Patti Kelley, Linna Callaham, Carmen Costello, Pam Whitt, Steve
Nickerson and Keith Kindler for helping organize the Oktoberfest, to Jas Lindord
and the Hometown Band for performing, and to John Eisenhauer and Eric Fredricks,
the owners of the 911 Building on Hildebrand Way, for cutting down the two chain
gates behind their building and next to Frontier Bank that separate Hildebrand Way
and Ericksen Avenue. Now traffic can flow to the businesses on Hildebrand and at the
Village Shopping Center. Going forward, the Chamber would like to see a permanent
connection between these two streets that doesn’t adversely impact the businesses
facing the parking lot thoroughfare.
