Ahoy Mateys
From the early morning Walk-a-thon to the Pirate Parade Festival in the afternoon and evening, we know the
entire family will have a great time! The Pirate Parade is Farnham’s walk-a-thon and the biggest fundraising
event of the year!
Teachers take their classes to the field where they will walk or jog around a ¼-mile track with their friends and
listen to music. Every student who participates will receive snacks and lap prizes! Students with sponsors (family
or friends) will earn “per mile” or “flat” donations for Farnham as they walk. This school-wide event promotes
fitness and school pride.
The Pirate Festival starts at 2pm! It’s an afternoon and evening of fun, food, and good friends. Activities take
place throughout the whole school. There will be a game truck, inflatables, extreme bungee and rock wall
climbing, human hamster balls, laser tag game, a silent auction, teacher adventures drawings, and much more!

Sponsor Options – Ways to Donate
There are two ways people can sponsor a student—either on a per mile basis or a flat donation basis. If people
choose to sponsor on a per mile basis, you will receive your Sponsor Envelope back after the Pirate Parade
detailing how many miles your child achieved. You can then let your sponsors know of your achievement and
collect their money. Flat donation money should be collected before the event.
DIFFERENT WAYS TO DONATE
There are four ways for people to donate money:
Cash: Simply collect cash before or after the event, but in all cases before the final deadline of May 6, 2015.
Check: Have all checks made out to “Farnham HSC.” Collect all sponsorship money and turn it in before the
final deadline of May 6, 2015.
PayPal: Visit the Farnham Pirate Parade web site at http://www.cambriansd.org/farnham/pirateparade and
locate the “Donate” button on the bottom of the screen. Click the “Donate” button and follow the instructions
for making an online donation. When you reach the final screen that allows you to review your donation prior
to submitting, you will see a box with the heading “Add special instructions to the seller.” In the box, enter
the student’s name, grade, and teacher’s name so we can identify who the donation is for and we’ll do the
rest! All donations must be received by the final deadline of May 6, 2015.
Company Matching: Check with your employer (most likely your HR Department) to see if they have a
Matching Gift Program. If they do, please follow the directions given and request a matching donation to
Cambrian Educational Foundation - Tax ID #77-044-8212 (list student name and Farnham school). Please
submit the receipt in your Sponsor envelope. If you are not provided with a receipt, please write down the
company name, employee name, student name, and matching amount and include it in the sponsor envelope
for our records. For questions: contact Lori Morrison [email protected].

How the Silent Auction Works
Find your bidder number posted by teacher last name in the library. When you see something you like,
simply write your bid number on that bid sheet along with the amount you are willing to pay for that item or
experience. When the auction table closes, the person with the highest bid amount on the bid sheet wins
that item and pays the amount they have noted on the bid sheet at check-out time. Read on for specifics.
 Review the Silent Auction tables - Come prepared to place your bids during the silent auction hours of
2:00 -6:30pm in the library. Bring cash, checkbook, or credit card to purchase packages at the close of
the auction. Bring cash or checks for express checkout!
 Bidder Numbers - will be posted in the library. Simply find the poster with your child’s teacher and look
for the bidder number next to your child’s name. If you do not have a child at Farnham - simply ask the
silent auction staff for a bidder number.
 Preview Items - once you arrive at the silent auction, walk around and check out the table displays. You
will notice each package has a bid sheet. There is a minimum starting bid and information about the
package value and conditions (i.e. expiration dates, minimum ages, conditions, etc.)
 Place your Bid(s) - If you want to bid, clearly write your bidder number (this is your bid!) to either start
the bidding or to increase the bid from the previously placed bid. Note that some packages may have a
Guaranteed Purchase option. You can write your bidder number there and it’s yours. You can pay at
6:45PM when checkout opens.
 Check Back Later - go enjoy the activities and food. Be sure to circle back multiple times throughout the
afternoon and evening to see if your bid(s) need to be increased. You may find yourself in a bidding
competition for some packages!
 Bidding Ends - at 6:30pm. The highest bidders will be identified and the checkout process will begin at
6:45pm. Don’t forget to bring cash or checks for express checkout!
Have fun and thank you for supporting Farnham!
