GEELONG Volume 1, Issue 2 Newsletter Date May-Aug 2012 SEASON II CLAN WARS GETTING SERIOUS Clan Wars season 2 Finals are nearly here!! Well our second season of Clan Wars state league is nearly coming to a end and into Finals time! With so many teams fighting for positions over the last couple of rounds, this is set to have some cracking games as it has seemed to be the case all season. With the Battle of First place coming down to round 8 against a couple of teams who have played each other enough for top spot SKILLED vs Shadow Stalkers (formerly The Pros) we also have everyone from 3rd to 6th place playing each other and all teams are within strike distance of each to try and get that top 4 finish and a chance to play in the Finals. It has been great watching teams develop their strategies, the new teams too this season improve every week and the friendships and fun we are all forming. We have been very lucky this season also to be using SatR which gives us all the stats which we have been collecting and in a First at Laser Strike we will be having Awards giving for the: HIT ASSASSIN,v CHAMPION (most hits), KILL CONFIRMED CHAMPION (Most Kills), SPAWN KING ( The player who has had the most Respawns) very interesting this award as it definitely will not be going to the worst player as most people probably think that it would and the best one of all MVP ( most valuable player based on hit and kills total minus Respawns). We were also lucky enough to finally get our u14’s Cadets league up and running and as we go into the finals series there we have 4 great teams battling it out for the first ever Cadets Champions. Redbacks, Ka - Blamo, Assassins Crew and Assault Clan will fight it out over 2 weeks to see who can become the Champs. Also remember these names because in a few years with some experience under their belt these teams will be coming up to state league and be quality sides to watch out for!!! Also if you want to keep up with all the results from Laser Strike Geelong check out our Facebook Page for our weekly wrap! Picture Below -Skilled, Champions Season 1. HEDGEND MAZE LASER STRIKE HEALESVILLE 15 ALBERT RD, HEALESVILLE 20 ACRES OF BUSH WARFARE Special points of interest: * It’s been a busy time for Healesville Laser Strike since our inception back in January, we’ve made a lot of new and exciting changes and everyone here is still learning something new and useful every time we step out on the Battlefield. In just the past few weeks alone we have added some very snazzy new equipment to our arsenal, crowned our very first Clan Wars champions and have established ourselves as birthday party experts. * Birthday Parties are one of the most common occurrences at Hedgend Maze, so it was no surprise that Laser Strike quickly gained a lot of popularity in this area. We’ve got a great program down here where you get a full session of fun filled Laser Strike as well as an opportunity to feed your hungry faces to keep you going out on the battlefield. * School Holidays are a big time for us here at Healesville, and they are once again approaching. We will be open every day of the School Holidays (July 2-16) so make sure to book your group soon to avoid disappointment and you can make a day of it by visiting both Hedgend Maze and Laser Strike. HEALESVILLE Volume 1, Issue 2 Newsletter Date May - Aug 2012 It’s Mission Complete For Healesville’s First Ever Clan Wars Back in March we started a new venture, Clan Wars came to Healesville for the very first time. It was a season where everyone learnt a lot and most importantly, had a lot of fun. Everyone involved quickly became friends, but once on the battlefield they had the adrenaline pumping and competed ferociously to take each other down. We had people who had never played before sign up as well as those with some previous Clan Wars experience under their belt. And we were very excited to sport an all girls team, Charlie’s Angels, who were never to be underestimated by the boys. As the weeks went by we even picked up a new team along the way and were then running 3 games a week, an excellent effort for our debut season. The finals series provided some absolutely nail biting finishes and really showed the evenness of our competition. In the end Set to Kill narrowly edged out Faze to be crowned our first ever Clan Wars Champions! The master mind of Blade is always trying to come up with new ideas to change the game in a new and creative way. Just recently Blade and I collabo- rated and had a great new idea called Crazy Clans. In the off season of traditional Clan Wars all our members have a chance to get together each week to play with new players, bring along friends and of course play and create some brand new games. If you’re interested please contact Blade for more information and registration, contact details can be found on the Hedgend website. It’ll be a lot of fun for everyone involved so give it a crack. PICTURE LEFT: Set To Kill - the first ever Champions of Clan Wars at Healesville. New Technology NOW Gunning Them Down At Healesville It had been a long wait for everyone. The clans, the refs and everyone in between were pumped up for our new arrivals. And just two weeks ago they finally arrived at the doorstep; the new guns were here! The new S*A*T*R technology is a complete game changer. They have a fresh slick design, appropriate for everyone to use and most importantly for our players, instant hit feedback and detailed statistics. No more frustration from whether or not you actually hit that guy diving through the bushes, the sweet sound of “casualty” rings through your ears as you pick off your enemies with deadly precision. Our Laser Strike world has completely ex- panded and our players now have more and more possibilities to play the game they love in a fresh and exciting way. The basin Volume 1, Issue 2 Newsletter Date May - August 2012 New Technology Set To Land… SATR The exciting wait draws closer as The Basin field awaits the arrival of it’s new upgraded guns along with new gaming technology. The new technology is called SATR. SATR is set to transform the old style of Laser Strike game play. The SATR system enables real time feedback for every player. No longer will a player be unsure on whether they have hit or killed their opponent. The SATR system will now give each player a sound effect in the form of voice feedback being either “casualty” (wound/ hit) , “kill confirmed” (kill), or “all ready dead” (shooting a player that is already dead). The new SATR system is so advanced that voice activation can be turned on or off. If the voice activation is turned off the red-dot scope will flash a number of times to let the player know whether they have “hit or killed” their oppo- nent. The SATR system has a grand total of a WHOPPING 69 different weapons to choose from. The 69 weapons choices can be broken down into gun classes including machine guns, rifles/carbines, sub machine guns and hand guns, But wait there’s more… You wanted it… BABY, you got it.. The SATR system also provides each player with their game statistics. These statistics are shown on the display of each weapon. The statistics include, hit points, current ammunition in magazine, replacement magazines, hits made, kills made, number of re -spawns, and accuracy percentage. The display will also show each player the time remaining left in that current game. The SATR system also simulates recoil by powering down the red-dot scope for a short interval for each shot. SATR PICTURE ABOVE: The Medic Box which will come with the new upgraded SATR system. Be the first to try the new system. Book Early. will also use medic boxes at teams bases enabling players to do their own re-spawns or top up ammunition when needed. Mysterious Soldiers To Represent Victoria at Nationals Captain Snyper and his men Mysterious Soldiers are set to represent Victoria in this years Australian National Clan Wars. Mysterious Soldiers battled it out with the top two clans from Healesville, Warrnambool and The Basin fields. Six clans went head to head for the right to become this years Victorian representative clan. The format is set up as the same as the national event. Players competed over two fields. One field in the bush the other over an urban inflatable set-up. Nothing could stop the awesome display of form from the Mysterious Soldiers boys. They proved too dominant and virtually untouchable all day. Mysterious Soldiers are the current defending champions of Australia. In just a few weeks time we will find out whether the boys are back to back national champions. We are proud of the lads and wish them all the best this year. Go get em boys… “Kill em all”... LASER STRIKE PLAYER REVIEW MERLIN FROM THE BASIN MERLIN Volume 1, Issue 2 Newsletter Date May-Aug 2012 PLAYER PROFILE - MERLIN - THE BASIN Q.) How old are you? 24... I'm a little like Robin Williams in "Jack" though, because I look about 30. Q.) How long have you been playing Laser Strike for? Well I first got into the game by accident at about 18-19yo so about 5 years. I was looking for a job and heard there was one going at Laser Strike. I applied and got the gig; the rest is history. My colleagues became good mates and I got hooked on the game - haven't looked back since Q.) What’s your favourite field to play at? I've been lucky enough to play at a few. The field at the Perth Nationals was amazing! Built on an old show ground with a big castle in the middle (even if we didn't get to play in there that day). Geelong and Philip Island's fields are heaps of fun too and I'll always have a soft spot for the thick bush at the Basin. We're lucky at Laser Strike to have a great variety of fields to play at Q.) What is your favourite weapon and why? No question, the Scorpion. It's the best compromise between range and rate of fire and is nice and compact. Q.) Are you a camo or gillie suit guy? Camo Q.) Do you prefer to play public session or clan wars? Q.) Who will win the nationals this year? Mysterious Soldiers Q.) If you had anywhere in the world to play Laser Strike where would it be? I reakon Venice. I could do a drive by on a Gondola! Q.) What are your goals this year with Laser Strike? To help Freeza get to every game... Public sessions are great but nothing beats the competition and rivalry in clan wars. It's a great feeling to work as a team with your mates to bring down the opposition. Spirit come out in the crowd as we cheered the boys home. There was soooo much pressure on the guys and I'll never forget the look on their faces when they won. Q.) How many Australian Nationals have you been to? I refereed the Bush field at the 2nd Nationals in Gembrook. Then I went to the QLD nationals the next year with "FEAR" where we won the urban inflatable field and came second overall. I only played one game the next year at the Basin nats because I was busy with other stuff and then I played in Perth with the "Dog Soldiers" Q.) How do you enjoy working on Laser Strike FM as a co-host? I love seeing how the clan wars competition is growing and hearing from players at the other fields. I really feel like I'm starting to get to know some of these other teams Q.) What’s your greatest achievement at Laser Strike? Every time I shoot Weapon... No seriously I think winning the Urban field at the QLD nats was something I'll never forget. Q.) What’s a stand out moment for you in Laser Strike? hmmm.... Man, in 5 years there have been heaps, and some of them have even been skirmish related. There's the time that guy let his hand brake off and his car rolled down the embankment at Mooroolbark. Megatron's bucks party, the world wars, helping open the Philip Island field, nationals! I think the Mysterious Soldiers becoming Australian Champions for the first time at the Gembrook nationals. It was the first time we really felt the Victorian Q.) What hot tip when playing Laser Strike could you give us? When playing against Weapon, sit and wait when the ground starts rattling you know he's charging in on a suicide run. PICTURE: Merlin Far Left, With His Clan FEAR After Winning Urban Nationals 2009 In QLD Q.) What’s it like working with the star studded Weapon on Laser Strike FM? Have you ever sat next to a hairless chimpanzee with a hyperactivity disorder? I do every Thursday night.... Q.) Who is the greatest player you have witnessed at Laser Strike? Snyper... He doesn't know this but I have pictures of him on my bedroom walls. In all seriousness, his brothers are both pretty good too but Snyper is like the Don Bradmen or Babe Ruth of Laser Skirmish in Australia at the moment Q.) If you could have any players to form a dream team clan with who would be the other four? Snyper, Dragon, Freeza, Blackhawk and Wacko Jacko (but don't tell Wacko cause I'll never hear the end of it).
