CATALOGUE NOTES
Item numbers are for purposes of identification only. They do not indicate order of sale.
In the measurements given, height is stated first, then
width, then depth, if applicable. In the case of framed or
matted works of art and photographs, measurements refer
to the overall size of the framed or matted piece.
Framed works will be noted in the catalogue.
•“Signed” signifies hand-signed by the artist, unless
otherwise indicated.
•“On-air title” is the identifying title to be used when
placing a bid.
•“Estimated value” represents the donor’s estimated
value of the item. This is not a “minimum” or “price”
and is furnished as a guide to prospective bidders.
It is recommended that all items be viewed personally
and inspected thoroughly during the pre-air exhibition, as
imperfections may not be noted in the catalogue.
A Screening Committee selected items photographed in
the catalogue.
CONDITIONS OF SALE
Proceeds will benefit WYES, 916 Navarre Avenue,
New Orleans, LA 70124.
WYES assumes no risk, liability or responsibility for
the authenticity of the authorship of any property identified
in this catalogue (that is, the identity of the creator or the
period, culture, source or origin, as the case may be, with
which the creation of any property is identified herein.)
All property is sold “as is” and WYES does not make
any warranties or representations of any kind or nature
with respect to the property, and in no event will be
responsible for the correctness, nor deemed to have made
any representation or warranty of description, genuineness,
attribution, provenance, historical period, or condition
of the property, and no statement in the catalogue or
made at the sale or in the bill of sale or invoice or in the
script of elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty or
representation or an assumption of liability.
WYES makes no representations or warranties,
expressed or implied, as to whether the purchaser acquires
any reproduction rights in the property.
WYES reserves the right to withdraw any property at
any time before actual sale.
Items will be sold to the highest bidder at the full
amount of the successful bid. In the case of duplicate bids,
the earliest bid received will be the one selected. Advance
bids are considered the earliest bids in the case of their
participation.
When any successful bidder accumulates items totaling
$1,000, a credit card must be submitted to secure the
purchases before any further bids will be accepted.
WYES reserves the right to reject a bid from any
bidder. The highest bidder acknowledged by WYES shall
be the purchaser. In the event of any dispute between
bidders, or in the event of any doubt on the part of WYES
as to the validity of any bid, WYES and/or the Auctioneer
shall have the sole and final decision either to determine
the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the article
in dispute. If any dispute arises after the sale, the WYES
sales record shall be conclusive in all respects.
ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
WYES reserves the right to dispose of the property in
any manner it deems appropriate if the successful bidder
does not remove the property within the agreed upon
period of time.
No Louisiana state or local tax is required on the
purchase of items offered for sale by the Greater New
Orleans Educational Television Foundation, which is a taxexempt organization.

NOTICE TO ALL BIDDERS

ADVANCE BID PROCEDURE
Advance bids will be accepted at the pre-air exhibition
and on-line until airtime the day the item is sold.
All bidders are advised to bid as early as possible.
In the event of identical bids, the earliest advance bid
received will take precedence. All bids will be marked
with the date and time of receipt.
A separate bid form must be used for each item on
which you bid.
The item number is listed in the catalogue. For item
description, please use “on-air title” as listed in the
catalogue.
The amount bid must be in whole dollar amounts.
Please note the “estimated value.” Advance bids will
be accepted only if the amount of the bid is at least
50% of the estimated value. When you place your
advance bid, it is advisable to bid the highest amount you
are willing to pay. All advance bids must be guaranteed by
a credit card at the time of submission. NO ADVANCE
BIDS WILL BE EXECUTED UNLESS SECURED BY
THIS METHOD.
Advance bids will be executed on your behalf by a
Proxy bidder in competition with the on-air and in-studio
bidding. Items are bid for the absentee bidder by the
Proxy as though the bidder were in attendance personally
and will be bought for the lowest possible price, which
may be below the bid placed. This service is confidential,
the Auctioneers are not privy to said information, and is
offered as a convenience to persons who cannot attend
the sale. In the event that the advance bids are in excess
of the floor bids, the proxy for the highest bidder will bid
one progression above the second highest bid to obtain the
article for the bidder.
WYES will not be responsible for errors or failure to
execute bids.
If you are viewing and it appears that your advance bid
will be surpassed, call the bid number on you television
screen immediately and ask for the person executing the
advance bids if you wish to increase your bid.
If your advance bid is the highest bid, you will receive
a confirming telephone call. Unless you can be reached
to make other arrangements, the item will be charged to
the credit card number supplied with your advance bid. A
listing of the on-air schedule will be available Friday, June
10 in order for the bidder to ascertain when each piece is
scheduled to be sold.
ON-AIR BID PROCEDURE
Bidding is done by phone and from the live bidding
audience.
Each item being offered will be described, including the
item number and on-air title. If you see an item on which
you wish to bid, immediately dial the number displayed
to initiate the bidding procedure. The operator must take
your information before you are allowed to bid.
One of our volunteer operators will answer your call.
Bidders must be 18 years of age or older to bid. They will
take your name, address, and phone number. Occasionally,
you must hang up and allow the volunteer operator to call
you back so that you may participate in the bidding. To
make a bid, give the item number and the on-air title.
The operator will tell you the current highest bid.
There are 10 other phone bidders, a proxy bidder and live
audience bidders that you are potentially bidding against.
In the event of two identical bids, the Auctioneer reserves
the right to determine which bid he or she considers first.
If you are the high bidder, a confirmation operator will
call you within one hour of the item’s sale to give you
instructions for picking up and paying for your item.
