Committed “...hearts...fully committed to Him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9) Brown City Camp July 30 - August 9, 2015 Brown City Camp | 8700 Wilcox Road | Brown City, MI 48416 810.346.2480 | www.browncitycamp.org Our “Life Together” Agreement Working to Create an Atmosphere of Loving Kindness and Respect Because we come together at Brown City Family Camp as a Christian community, we expect that those who attend will cooperate with our “Life Together” agreement: 1. Christ-like attitudes and modesty are expected in our dress, behavior and entertainment choices. 2. Our speed limit is 10 MPH at all times. 3. Gates are closed 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM. 4. Quiet time begins at 11:00 PM. 5. Adults who are out after 11:00 PM should be going to or from the rest room or returning to their lot. Driving on the grounds after 11PM is strictly prohibited. 6. No one is to sleep overnight in vehicles on the campgrounds, including the parking lot. 7. Youth under age 18, and not staying in the dorms, are expected to observe the same rules as those who stay in the dorms (and must register at the Youth Office!). 8. Youth and unmarried young adults under the age of 21 may not be on a camp lot without an adult of at least age 21 being present on the same or adjacent lot and claiming responsibility for them. 9. Tobacco, alcohol, e-cigarettes, marijuana, or any illegal drugs are not permitted. 10. Pets are not allowed on the grounds. 11. The use of any motorized vehicle, bicycle, or golf cart is limited to those ages 18 or older (who are not registered in the youth program). 12. Motorized or “razor” scooters, ATV’s and “Gator” type vehicles are not permitted. 13. Open campfires are not permitted without written permission from the Camp Board. 14. Electric heaters and air conditioners may be used only by prior permission, since power is limited. Tampering with utilities is strictly prohibited. 15. All campers will cooperate with the security staff which serves us as authorized by the camp board. 16. The camp board has the right to deny camping privileges and/or terminate lot agreements to any uncooperative persons. 17. State regulations allow a MAXIMUM of 2 sleeping units per campsite. Kitchen/cooking tents are permitted, but may not be used for sleeping at night. This policy will be strictly enforced! Don’t miss out on the fellowship and ministry. Choir rehearsal is held most evenings at 5:45 PM in the Eastman Tabernacle. A schedule will be announced. Family Fun Fair The Annual Family Fun Fair will be held this year at the Kingdom Kids Tabernacle (at the West end of Division Street) on the first Saturday of camp, August 1st, from 2 - 4 PM. Enjoy many fun activities. See you there! Kingdom Kid’s Market Place Our kids will be selling homemade goods, crafts, art and treats on Wednesday, August 5th, from 2 - 4 PM at the front pavillion. ALL MONEY collected will go to the Children’s mission project, HOPE ENDEAVORS. Women’s Rally - “God’s Delight” Tuesday, August 4 at 10:00 AM in the Eastman Tabernacle Suze Fair is the Director of Experience & Expression at Fellowship Missionary Church, in Ft. Wayne, IN. This role includes a variety of things, including leading the team that plans and implements Sunday morning gatherings, providing direction to the Communication and Welcome teams and participating as a member of the Leadership Team of the Church. Suze has been on staff at Fellowship for 10 years and was ordained in the Missionary Church in the fall of 2014. Suze grew up in Ft. Wayne & is grateful to be raising her family there. She enjoys traveling, speaking, and writing. MORE IMPORTANTLY, Suze has been married to Kelly for 29 years and they have 3 children – 2 adults (mostly ) and 1 still at home. Praise Gathering Praise Gathering / Concert Sunday, August 2 at 2:30 PM in the Eastman Tabernacle The Allen Family will be in concert with us on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 2nd at 2:30 PM in the Eastman Tabernacle. For the past sixteen years, the Allen Family has traveled across more than thirty-five of the United States and four Canadian Provinces in full-time Gospel music ministry. Their family ministry was recently featured on the TLC network in a show called “Home Sweet Bus”. Music & Worship Bruce & Sherry Ake will lead worship at camp this year. Bruce has been the Director of Worship Ministries since 2001 at the Colonial Woods Missionary Church in Port Huron. Bruce has attended Brown City Camp every year of his life and has been singing and co-leading worship in the Youth Tabernacle and the Eastman Tabernacle for over twenty-five years. Bruce and Sherry will be celebrating their 37th camp together. Sherry’s piano ability contributes significantly to creating an atmosphere of Worship and Praise that ushers men and women into the manifest presence of the Lord. We look forward to seeing the power of the Holy Spirit using worship to prepare us for the messages God has placed on the hearts of our evangelists. Josh Sabo has been leading worship most of his life and is currently at Colonial Woods Missionary Church. His calling is to be an agent that brings people to the throne of God. He believes what the Bible says, that we are to live by the power of the Holy Spirit and have our minds set on the 3rd person of the Trinity that is at work in Christians today. Josh and his wife Tiffany have been married for over 6 years and have a 3 year old daughter, Scarlette. Adult Ministries David Engbrecht is the Senior Pastor of Nappanee Missionary Church. Under his leadership, the church has completed seven building programs in the last 36 years and now averages over 3,300 in Worship attendance through a multi-site ministry. Dave has been a popular speaker at numerous retreats, conferences, camps in North America, and has ministered in many countries around the world. He is a graduate of Vennard College in Iowa and earned his Masters from Concordia College in Nebraska. He & his wife, Christy, have two married children and five grandchildren. Mick Veach’s commitment to share the love of God with the lost has taken him to the ends of the earth, whether smuggling Bibles, feeding lepers or planting a church among an unreached Islamic nation. Now as a mission-minded pastor and speaker, Mick desires to see God’s truth compel others to Great Commission action and to foster healthy local churches that engage in evangelism and discipleship. Mick has served as a Global Partners’ Area Director for Central Asia and the Middle East and has presented the gospel in more than 60 countries. He most recently served as the Lead Pastor of Stoney Creek Community Church in Washington, Michigan. Currently he is beginning a new church in the center of Detroit that has a focus of reaching a multi ethnic audience with a goal of reproducing more churches in the city. Mick and his wife, Melanie, have three children. Personal prayer and anointing for healing are available throughout camp upon request. Dr. Marcus Warner is the president of Deeper Walk International, a ministry that trains people to do the work of heart-focused discipleship. He has served as a Bible teacher at Bethel College and as a pastor. Marcus travels and teaches seminars on emotional healing, spiritual warfare, and discipleship foundations. He has earned degrees from Fort Wayne Bible College and from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. The author of several books, he lives in Noblesville, Indiana with his wife Brenda (Schlabach) and their two children. Jack French, former Youth for Christ director, missionary to Brazil and Michigan District Superintendent, has spent most of his 50 years of ministry as an itinerant evangelist. His preaching has taken him to most parts of the globe as well as hundreds of local churches and camps in North America. He and his wife, Joni, make their home in Greenwood, MI. Jack will be preaching both Sunday morning services during camp. Tom Blaylock serves nationally for the Missionary Church as a leadership coach. Working with pastors, church planters, and church leaders, Tom coaches in the words, works, and ways of Jesus. Becoming a disciple who looks and acts more like Jesus, and making and multiplying disciples are his passions. Tom has been married 25 years to his high school sweetheart, Sandi. They have 3 children and live in South Carolina. Tom has lived in Michigan most of his life and calls Brown City Camp home. Brown City Camp 8700 Wilcox Rd. Children’s Ministries A complete age-appropriate children’s program is offered daily at 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM (excluding Saturday & Sunday afternoons) for children ages 4 – 11; including music, Bible lessons and activities. Children are also dismissed before the evening message Monday through Friday to attend Children’s Church at their tabernacle. Saturday & Sunday afternoons are reserved for family time like the Fun Fair On Saturday, August 1st. Parents may pre-register their children online (www.browncitycamp.org) or by mailing the camp registration form. Parents may print the different tabernacles’ registration forms, fill them out, and bring them to camp. Go to www.browncitycamp.org. Under 2015 Family Camp, click “Children”. Pre-registered children may pick up their wristbands at their tabernacle on Thursday, July 30th from 2-4 PM or before their morning service. Registration will be one half hour before service each day for those not pre-registered. We need all parents and grandparents to sign up to help one or two times in each of their children’s tabernacles so we can keep kids safe. Children’s mission project will be Hope Village Orphan Care in Malawi Africa. 1st-6th grade offering will be taken in all 10:00 AM services. Children’s Ministries Two’s & Three’s Heather Marshall directs the daily 10:00 AM program for the 2 and 3-year old children with the help of Sharon D’Arcy in the Son Shine Tabernacle (old cafeteria). Heather & Sharon are from Lamotte Missionary Church. Michele Hayre and Tami Himmel, from Colonial Woods Missionary Church, will share the nightly program for this group at 7:00 PM. Four’s through Kindergarten Teresa Kellerman, from Colonial Woods MC will be leading the 4’s-K group. Teresa is currently a teacher in her 7th year in the Croswell-Lexington School District. Teresa & Jayson have 3 children. In her spare time, she enjoys running, biking and quilting, as well as camping and fun times with the family. Primary Children Jay McCulloch (1st-3rd) from Colonial Woods Missionary Church will be ministering to our Primary children’s group. Jay has been involved in student ministries (K-12) for over 20 years. Since 1999, he has served with both children’s & youth ministries at Colonial Woods. Jay loves with all his heart the tremendous blessings God has given him with his wife, Amber, and their four children: Logan, Scout, Quaid, and Sawyer. Junior Children Pastor Paul and Jessica Dietzel have been ministering to children and families since 1996. During the past 17 years their business, Servant Hands, has ministered to camps, churches and schools across the country. By using inflatable games as tools to reach families for Christ, they have impacted many cities. They wanted to bring their ministry to their community, so in September of 2009 they planted Faith Family. They have two girls, Autumn and Lillie who attend Corunna public schools. Paul and Jessica are actively involved in the community with their local schools, civic groups, and other non-profits. Ben and Amanda Capshaw currently pastor the Central Wesleyan Church in Elwood, IN. Married for 10 years, they enjoy life to fullest….hiking, running, biking, laughing and playing games with their two children: Isaac and Noah. The Capshaws formerly served in Lansing, MI as children’s pastors. They believe that when you learn about Christ in new ways, it leads to a new level of living and loving Him. Jesus called us to be like little children. Ben and Amanda are excited to serve our at camp and look forward to exploring how Jesus’ love transforms us all back into that child-like wonderment and awe of His goodness, grace, love and mercy! Youth & Young Adult Ministries A youth program is offered for teens with daily chapels, small groups, & recreation. All young people who have finished grades 6-12 who are staying on the grounds overnight MUST register and attend youth services. Those requesting dorm housing should submit a registration form and health history form with a $50 non-refundable deposit to the Regional Office by June 30th. The fee for the youth program is $5.00 per day. Meal tickets (3 meals each) can be purchased for $10.00 per day. Overnight dorm lodging can be reserved for $3.00 per day. Jr High Speaker Dan Hamrick joined Colonial Woods Missionary Church staff as the Junior High Youth Pastor in April of 2006 and became the Director of Student Ministries in 2010. He graduated from Bethel College in May of 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministry. Dan was married to his beautiful wife, Stephanie in December of 2008. Dan and Stephanie have two beautiful girls, Nicole and Taylor. Dan loves teaching students about Jesus and having fun while doing it. If you’re looking to get on Dan’s good side, a cold can of Dr. Pepper and a bag of Sour Cream and Cheddar chips would do it. Senior High Speaker Derry Prenkert has a deep desire to see students move past religion and into an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. He’s been working with High School students for nearly 20 years. He is the Student Ministries Pastor at Nappanee Missionary Church where he oversees all Middle School through College Age Ministries. Derry is a graduate of Bethel College. At Bethel, he met Janelle, and they were married in 2000. They are parents to the 3 most adorable kids ever. Young Adult Speaker Suze Fair is the wildly optimistic and enthusiastic member of the leadership team at Fellowship Missionary Church, Ft. Wayne, IN. She absolutely boils over with ideas and energy. Officially at Fellowship she oversees their creative team. Her title is “Director of Expression and Experience.” Suze loves working alongside her husband, Kelly, who is also on Fellowship’s staff. She’s crazy about her three wonderful children. If she would be allowed, Suze would spend the bulk of her days perched on her front porch, reading, writing, blogging and visiting with friends - while sipping on Starbucks.
