Authentic Eastern Han Dynasty fired brick inkstone. Translated it states that the brick was made during the reign of the Eastern
Han dynasty emperor Huandi Šº’é•G more specifically, the inscription indicates that it was made during the 2nd year of the era
during his reign called Yongshou ‰išæ (AD 155-158). Inkstones made up the "Four Treasures of the Scholar's Studio."
Inkstones date back to the Neolithic period, and have been made from a variety of materials, the most common being stone and
ceramic. It is impossible to know when the brick was later turned into an inkstone.
