Tasks of the German Navy Training
Task Group 2014
The principal tasks of the German Navy Training Task
Group are
1. to ensure the availability of the German Navy Training
Task Group as a reserve force of the Navy:
If required, the German Navy Training Task Group has to
be available and ready for a maritime mission mandated
by the Bundestag, the Lower House of the German Parliament, within 10 days.
2. to establish, maintain and improve operational
readiness:
For this purpose, the Group, in addition to its participation in national exercises at force level and exercises
with other German units, will participate in the exercises
GOOD HOPE VI, ATALANTA and DEFRAM.
Moreover, additional exercises will be conducted with
allies and other partner nations.
3. to train officer cadets of Crew VII/2014:
Furthermore the German Navy Training Task Group assists
the Naval Academy, Mürwik, in training officer cadets.
During their onboard practical training, the officer cadets
shall become familiar with the basics of shipboard organization, the onboard routine and the interaction between
operational and technical departments of a ship as well.
At the same time, the officer cadets shall get a general
idea of miscellaneous types of cooperation within national and also international maritime forces.
In addition, they practice the knowledge acquired during
the officers’ course.
To enable all officer cadets to participate in the German
Navy Training Task Group cruise, the period is divided
into three phases. Approximately one third of the Crew
VII/2013 at a time will embark one of the participating
units for one of the phases.
