Tasks of the German Navy Training Task Group 2014 The principal tasks of the German Navy Training Task Group are 1. to ensure the availability of the German Navy Training Task Group as a reserve force of the Navy: If required, the German Navy Training Task Group has to be available and ready for a maritime mission mandated by the Bundestag, the Lower House of the German Parliament, within 10 days. 2. to establish, maintain and improve operational readiness: For this purpose, the Group, in addition to its participation in national exercises at force level and exercises with other German units, will participate in the exercises GOOD HOPE VI, ATALANTA and DEFRAM. Moreover, additional exercises will be conducted with allies and other partner nations. 3. to train officer cadets of Crew VII/2014: Furthermore the German Navy Training Task Group assists the Naval Academy, Mürwik, in training officer cadets. During their onboard practical training, the officer cadets shall become familiar with the basics of shipboard organization, the onboard routine and the interaction between operational and technical departments of a ship as well. At the same time, the officer cadets shall get a general idea of miscellaneous types of cooperation within national and also international maritime forces. In addition, they practice the knowledge acquired during the officers’ course. To enable all officer cadets to participate in the German Navy Training Task Group cruise, the period is divided into three phases. Approximately one third of the Crew VII/2013 at a time will embark one of the participating units for one of the phases.
