What’s hot, what’s cool, and what to do at this year’s edition of America’s
greatest boat show.
Every fall, yachting enthusiasts turn their attention to South Florida to see the latest and greatest the industry has
to offer for the coming season. Now in its 56th year, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show promises to be
the grandest yet, with more than 3 million square feet of exhibit space in the water and on land, in seven locations.
For 2015, fast is in, fuel efficiency is key, convertibles are king and inside/outside living space is what yacht
owners want. Several brand-new models are scheduled to make appearances at the show. Some are making their
world debuts. Others are surfacing in the United States for the first time. Here’s a sample of some of the new boats
showgoers can experience on the docks this year and a guide to some great things to do in Fort Lauderdale if you
attend.
THE YACHTS
Lürssen | Kismet | 312 feet 4 inches (95.2 meters)
Lurssen KISMET
Kismet, Queen of the Show, is the largest yacht ever to dock at Bahia Mar Yachting Center. Her exterior design by
Espen Øino and interior design by Reymond Langton Design—all contemporary—rival the swankiest villas along
Fort Lauderdale’s Intracoastal Waterway. Associated with the American owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars
professional football team, this stunning yacht has eight staterooms and can sleep up to 16 guests. If you want

Feadship ROCK.IT
“ROCK.IT is a true 21st century yacht,” according to Henk de Vries, director of Feadship. Launched in 2014, one
of ROCK.IT’s singular features is a control system that allows the yacht to keep her heading at anchor, hovering
on the main engine and the thrusters. A three-axis steering joystick with a rotational factor enables various
maneuvering modes. Designer Sander Sinot calls her “sleek and bold, without being pretentious.” She has
accommodations for 10 guests in five sumptuous staterooms.

Mangusta 165E | Moonraker | 163 feet 7 inches (50 meters)
This Italian stallion from Overmarine carries an “E” in her moniker. It stands for Evolution because she has several
new characteristics compared with her predecessors in the 165 series. New side windows flood the main deck’s
interior with light. An expanded foredeck presents a veritable Nikki Beach atmosphere forward on the yacht, while
her stern was extended by 3 feet to accommodate an integrated settee aft. With a contemporary interior accented
by touches of modern art,Moonraker offers a 33-knot cruise with a top speed of 40 knots. Her shallow draft makes
her ideal for the Bahamas and Caribbean.

Making her first appearance in America, thousands of miles from her native Italy, Logica’s 147-footer is sure to
turn heads. Her Canadian owner, a real estate and media entrepreneur, was heavily involved throughout the build
process. She features naval architecture by PLANA Design, exterior design by Brenta Design and an interior by
Martin Kemp Design. Flooded with natural light, her voluminous interior is ultra-contemporary with
accommodations for 12 and loads of entertaining space. Her unique foredeck sports an 18-foot fresh or seawater
swimming pool with a contraflow system.

Benetti Crystal 140 | Soy Amor | 140 feet (42 meters)
Benetti Crystal 140
With a model designation that evokes the transparent solid mineral, this example of Benetti’s Crystal series is as
solid as she is bright.Soy Amor has beautiful lines, and her interior includes a backlit marble waterfall in the main
foyer and a fireplace in the salon. The bridge monitors represent the latest generation of touch-screen
functionality, while the builder’s own Benetti Exclusive Sea Technology manages video and satellite
telecommunications from a central system. Her striking exterior design and concept are by Stefano Righini.

IAG 140 | King Baby | 140 feet (42 meters)
IAG 140
Offered for charter and making her North American debut, King Baby had an overriding mantra of “quality, quality,
quality” during her build in China, according to project manager Tim Kings. Constructed using traditional handlaid
fiberglass in the hull, resin infusion for the superstructure and carbon fiber for the upper structure, King Baby is
built to RINA Class and MCA, with LY2 compliance for commercial charter. Designed by Evan K. Marshall, her
interior is said to rival European quality with black walnut handcrafted woodwork and stone accents. With
engineering by Sergio Cutolo, she reportedly delivers on both fuel economy and velocity, with a maximum speed
of 20 knots.

Westport 130
Representing the best of semi-custom in a proven package, Westport’s 2016 trideck model is an evolution of the
builder’s popular 130 series that was introduced at the Fort Lauderdale show in 2001. The yacht is ABS-classed,
MCA compliant and well-suited for private or charter use. A five-stateroom arrangement with an on-deck master
stateroom, large salon, dining room and expansive deck deliver luxury and style. “Unseen, yet critical elements of
comfort have been taken into account, such as quiet acoustics that reduce sound levels to those of a high-end
luxury car,” said Ron Nugent, Westport’s manager of sales, service and marketing.

Sanlorenzo SD126
This latest model in Sanlorenzo’s semi-displacement line marks the series’ U.S. debut. Developed with Italian
designer Francesco Paszkowski, she has two hot tubs and two terraces. Her interior by American designer Marty
Lowe includes exquisite furniture from Minotti, Flexform and Molteni, with reclaimed mooring posts from the
Venetian waterways incorporated into the sky-lounge detailing. Also making her U.S. debut, the Sanlorenzo 118 is
sure to be well received by those who appreciate the outdoor lifestyle aboard, with a terrace off the main salon,
gull wing opening windows in the master stateroom and a spacious beach club.

Admiral Impero | Nono | 121 feet (37 meters)
Admiral Impero
Nono is a semi-displacement, raised-pilothouse motoryacht from The Italian Sea Group designed by Luca Dini
with interiors by Admiral Centro Stile. She is distinguished by large glass windows that wrap around the main deck
forward, and by full-height sliding glass doors in the salon that open to the aft deck. The full-beam master also has
substantial windows. All aluminum, she has twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesels that deliver a top speed of 17
knots and a cruising speed of 15.5 knots.

Cantiere delle Marche Darwin 102
“Sturdy, highly functional and comfortable at sea.” That’s the word from the builder’s North American
representative, Bob Denison of Denison Yacht Sales. Launched in September in Ancona, Italy, the 102 is making
her North American debut. Designed by Sergio Cutolo, she offers a large sundeck, zero-speed stabilizers for
comfort at anchor and a range of 5,900 miles at 10 knots.

Representing the builder’s first open-bridge model in the United States, the E88’s flybridge is ideal for outdoor
entertaining and alfresco dining. Her main deck sports a trendy seamless transition from the aft deck through the
salon and forward to the country kitchen. Also at the show is the E78, with a hydraulic folding mast perfect for
Great Lakes and waterway cruising.

Riva 88 Florida
In Florida, rag-top cars rule route A1A. On the water, the new Riva 88 Florida (featured in this issue) is sure to
dominate the waterways with a cool, convertible hardtop integrated into the deckhouse that’s controlled
electronically. She’s fast, too, topping out at almost 39 knots.

Viking 80 Convertible | 80 feet 6 inches (24.5 meters)
This world premiere is so new that we could only show a rendering, so you’ll have to see her in person at the
show. With a sheerline sporting 9 feet of freeboard forward and tapering to a little over 3 feet astern, the 80’s
dramatic hull form was designed to divert spray downward while barreling along in excess of 40 knots. Her 217square-foot cockpit is equipped for tournament fishing.

Azimut 72 | 74 feet 3 inches (22.6 meters)
This American-debut yacht, with exterior design by Stefano Righini and interior by Carlo Galeazzi, combines a hull
and deck of molded fiberglass, and a deckhouse and flybridge of carbon fiber. Other U.S. premieres at the Azimut
display include the sporty Atlantis 43, the Magellano 66, the 77S and the new long-range family cruiser Magellano

Hatteras 70MY | 74 feet 6 inches (22.7 meters)
This venerable builder updated the exterior styling of its motoryacht line, now with walkaround side decks. Outdoor
entertaining is key on this model, evidenced by her spacious Mediterranean-style flybridge. Also new from
Hatteras is the GT70 sportfisher, which combines classic Hatteras bow flare with tumblehome at her transom.

Numarine 70 Flybridge | 70 feet 10 inches (21.6 meters)
Making her U.S. premiere, the Numarine 70 Flybridge hopes to replicate the success of the builder’s hardtop
model. She’s a big boat—albeit manageable without crew—with plenty of lounging, dining and socializing space,
and the salon is flooded with natural light. A shorter version, the 60 Flybridge, also makes her American debut.
Three units of the 60 Flybridge have already been sold, according to the builder. Cruising speed on the 60 is 28
knots with a top speed of 35 knots.

Cranchi 60 Fly | 60 feet (18.5 meters)
Family-owned and generations-old yacht builder Cranchi brings its latest wavemaker to North America in the form
of a 60-foot flybridge model. This 2016 model enjoyed its world debut at the Cannes boat show, where she stood
tall among her two sisters: the 60 hardtop and 60 softtop. With a pair of 625-hp Volvo Penta IPS D11s, this sexy
Italian starlet with four plush, roomy staterooms is capable of 34 knots.

With a flybridge that seems to defy her size, the Monte Carlo 60 by Beneteau makes her U.S. debut at the show.
Nuvolari Lenard, an Italian design firm responsible for some of the world’s most iconic superyachts, drew the MC6
with the same flair as yachts four times her size. With a Zeus joystick at the center helm, she’s a dream to
maneuver.

Marking the return of the flybridge to Ferretti’s under-60 fleet, the 550 offers three interior layouts for the owner’s
consideration, plus a 250-mile range at 30 knots.

Big sister to the Z44, the 55 yields 27 percent more living space. You won’t miss her on the dock. Just look for the
high-gloss metallic paint job synonymous with the Dutch builder. Her sunroof spans the entire bridge for a true
convertible feel as you cruise down the waterway. Slide up to the bar in one of the stools on the extended aft deck,
or curl up in the roomy full-beam master below. With a large swim platform and side-loading tender garage, she’s
the ultimate pocket superyacht.

Wajer 38S
Dutch yacht builder Wajer & Wajer will display its new 38S, based on the original Osprey 38, which made her
debut last year. While the Osprey was designed as the ultimate day boat, the 38S center console model was
conceived with water sports in mind and tons of stowage for toys. An LED-lit bimini top covers the helm, and a
flared bow design keeps the cockpit dry, even while pushing 47 knots.

Making her first public appearance is Cutting Edge, Hargrave Custom Yachts’ new 101-foot raised pilothouse

Shelley. She’s equipped with the latest technology including Naiad Dynamics stabilizers.

The name derives from an ancient Greek mythological place, but this yacht looks as contemporary as they come,
and it’s not just her ultra-modern décor. The entire overhead is composed of solar panels—430 square feet of
them. A great success in Europe, Arcadia is hoping to achieve the same attention in the United States.

Felix | 170 feet 7 inches (52 meters)
Delivered in 2004, Felix is based on the classic Tigre d’Or series from Dutch yard Amels. She features custom
exterior styling and interior by the late Alberto Pinto with eight varieties of wood and luxury materials. She
accommodates 10 guests in five double staterooms, including a full-beam master suite with his-and-her heads, a
walk-in wardrobe and an office/lounge. In 2014, she had several upgrades including watermakers, wastewater
management, a new security system and new audio.

VIP Event at the Big Boat Pavilion
Members of the Superyacht Builders Association will be on hand at this red-carpet pavilion on the water. On the
opening evening of the show, these builders will hold a VIP invitation-only event with canapés and drinks in
association with Yachts International and the Marine Industries Association of South Florida. VIP cards will be
issued for a dedicated superyacht tender from the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, where valet car parking is
available.

DINING & ENTERTAINMENT
At the show…
Pier Sixty-Six offers several dining options including Pelican Landing restaurant, which offers casual dining and
drinks, and Grille 66 & Bar, which serves fine cuisine. At the Hall of Fame Marina, there will be a new pop-up
restaurant designed to offer a quality dining option for guests and a place for industry professionals to meet and
conduct business. Centrally located, the new restaurant will be open all show days and will be operated by Hugh’s
Culinary, one of the area’s top caterers. Other nearby options include local foodie favorites Coconuts restaurant
and G&B Oyster Bar, located just outside the show adjacent to the Hall of Fame Marina. The IGFA Sportfishing
Lounge, located inside the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center show location, will offer

Fort Lauderdale knows that every party needs a pre-party, and the hottest ticket in town is Tapas on the Tarmac.

Yachts International will host two seminars during this year’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The
seminars will be presented by Annapolis-based maritime attorney Todd Lochner. Lochner specializes in all facets
of maritime law. He graduated cum laude from the Tulane University Law School with a maritime law certificate
from Tulane Maritime Law Center.Topics includes Staying Two Steps Ahead of the Tax Man and How to Hire a
Captain and Crew.
