Get there with the Strength BA NK COMMONWEALTH Page 2 THE AMATEUR FOOTBALLER - August 20, 1977 THE AIR IS CLEARER' - MOST FOURS SETTLED DRMDND, PARADE SAFE - PARKSIDE IN DANGER By GEORGE McTAGGART Well last week's round DID clear the air considerably, and whereas only two sections were settled then, there are now eight sections in which the composition of the four cannot be altered . Ormond and Old Paradians made sure of their places in their sections with wins over St. Bernard's and Old Melburnians respectively, and University Blacks were beaten by De La Salle, which wiped out their chances . Parkside are in danger of losing their place in C Section, with Old Ivanhoe and Hampton Rovers level on points with them . The Rovers look to have the better chance of ousting them . Old Mentonians beat Beverley Hills St . Bernard's were never really in it against Ormond, who led all day by 2 points and are now safe, but and scored by 27 points . The superWest Brunswick went down by 20 ior pace and backing up of Ormond points to AMP Society. Bulleen-Templestowe's poor kicking were big factors in their win . (6-20) contributed to their 25-point deDe La Salle showed better form feat by Thornbury. This win by Thornthan the previous week to beat the bury and the fact that Commonwealth Blacks by 17 points . They played with Bank and Footscray Tech, also won, more purpose and determination alknocked Bulleen United out of the though the Blacks' aerial supremacy running . almost closed the gap in the third North Old Boys' win over Univerterm . sity Blacks and Ivanhoe's defeat of Marcellin were well off the target University Blues, put North into the again in the second half against UniJunior Section four in place of the versity Blues . They kicked 8-4 in the Blues, but North have a bye today. first half for a narrow led, and 5-15 In Section 2, Reservoir were much in the second (1-10 in the third quartoo strong for Geelong and West ter), but they won by 15 points. Brunswick ended their slender hopes Parade were too fast for O .M .'s to when they were overwhelmed by run out easy winners and make sure Kew . of a finals berth, but Reservoir had trouble in beating St. Kilda CBC, getLOOKING BACK - 1978 iing home by only 8 points . Old HailYears to be covered next year will be 1973, 1968 and 1953 . eybury beat Collegians by 10 points If your club records report any events in and are safe from relegation . those years that you think would be of Old Ivanhoe stayed in the running interest for "Looking Back", please forward them to me at 561 Bourke Street, Melbourne with a 14-point win over Old Xaver3000. ians and Parkside put themselves in We do not have copies of "Amateur Footthe "hot seat" when they crashed badballer" for years 1957 to 1960 . In those years publication was not under our direct ly against AJAX, going down by alcontrol and was a "broadsheet" publication . most 9 goals . If any club or reader has in the "cupboard" any copies for those years, please Old Brighton's 23-point win over ring Miss Foley at 61-3757 as we would like State Bank made them safe and setto borrow them for a short time. Thank you . tled Bank's hopes, and St. Kevin's Owing to the Postal dispute many goaleasily beat Alphington to hold second kickers and best players were not received place . in time for publication . THE AMATEUR FOOTBALLER - August 20, 1977 Page 3 PREVIEWING TODArS GAMES A SECTION Well the four is settled and it seems appropriate that the two early leaders gain the benefit of the double chance . I'm amazed to see St. Be rnard's slump so quickly but don't be surprised if their astute coach "Gus" Mitchell performs a miracle and livens the side back to the form produced in beating North Old Boys recently . Nevertheless you can't look beyond North tor the flag . They have come a long way in Amateur football and this is a credit to their excellent administration, in particular their retired President John Adams, current President and prolific forward Les Murray and their fine Captain, Shane Maguire . Today North will complete the home-andhome games by proving too accomplished for Marcellin who despite the loss, must be congratulated on the way they have adapted ,to their first year in A Section . University Blues, one of the most talented yet unpredictable teams I can recall, will finish on a high note by beating Old Trinity who must be prepared to rebuild their stocks in B Section next year . The talent of Bruce Bourne and the steadfast defence of Bruce Corben has been the chief factor in establishing Ormond's place in thq four. Coach Ian Cameron is also to be congratulated on a job well done in lifting this side out of the doldrums . Coburg will be unable to counter their traditional rivals today and they too must adjust •to the drop !Co B Section where they haven't played since 1963 when they beat Geelong in ,the Final. University Blacks play St, Bernard's anotheir guess, but St . Bernard's have more at stake so I'll play a hunch that they'll get back into business on finals eve with a win . De La Salle are a neatly blended line-up with - Ppter McDonnell on the half-back line, half-forward Terry Crothers and rover Simon Beddoe consistently among their stams . Caulfield Grammar with all their evergreen veterans playing well week after week will, however offer considerable resistance. I don't know whether t he Tootells, Butchers, Morphets, etc . are thinking of retiring but if they do, Caulfield will be in a sorry state . I'm tempted to pick Caulfield, but "De La" position on the ladder argues that I have no reason to tip against the semifinalists. SELECTIONS :- No rth Old Boys, University Blues, Ormond St . Bernard's, De La Salle - JIM FIDG~ . B SECTION Last week's round clearly established the final four composition which now cannot be changed . Great interest however remain s Pa2e 4 in what will occur at the bottom end of the table where discomforture still stares three or four clubs in the face . Sti ll, that is what makes Amateur Football so great. Reservoir and Moorish may well turn out to be the non-event of the round as the former cannot miss out on the four whilst the labter -appears to have sufficient percentage to avoid relegation . Reservoir are not putting ~their gamq together of recent weeks an d coach Barry Evans must be far from happy with their last two weeks efforts against bottom sides. However, their backline, led by Jim Paulka and "Powerhouse" Carlysle should continue to withstand the pressure and give them a slim chance of itaking off the cove.er' second spot. St. Kilda C.B.C . surely have the incentive to roll the leaders in a last ditch effort, but I•am not optimistic enough ,Co sugges ; that they have the resources to achieve this worthwhile objective . The like li hood of firmer grounds should ensure that John Anderson will exert a telling effect on the game and ensure a win for Old Scotch . Old Melbu rnians played we ll below ~the1•c:apabilLties last week - or am I the one out of step . Their game with Collegians is full of interest, particularly for the Purple and Golds . How they must have broken Ted Farre ll's heart as they kicked away a golden opportunity to avoid relegation . The opportun i ty sti ll remains, but I prefer O .M .'s (one of the reasons for my lowly position in Tipster's Tally) to take the points . Old Paradians, despite their security in fourth spot, will not give Geelong an easy chan ce in this pressure game. With -their bad kickng apparently cured and Steve Kohut dominating the ruck duels, they appear to be too much for the honest triers from Geelong to be able to manage. The round will be completed with the clash betwe e n two last round winners in Old Haileybu ry and Ivanhoe . I find it hard to suggest that they are evenly matched . However, a win is not the most importan event for Haileybury, but a defeat by a wid , margin will prove disastrous. With Iv anhc .^, proven over the season as worthy finalist should came home with another win . SELECTIONS :- Reservoir O .B ., Old Scotch, Old Melburnians, Old Paradians, Ivanhoe - ALF KEAM . C SECTIO N What a finish for the season! Old Xavs have slipped away to third place with c i out of form display. Fourth spot is of great interest and Old Ivanhoe have almost crept in . A win tod ~ would give them a morale booster . I could even commit Tipster's suicide and sell ;_ them against AJAX . AJAX now cemented fr double chance haven't quite the same 1centive to win - don't get a shock - 61u I's to win . Fawkner, the season's top performer, I feel can cope on away grounds and thc should put together another 4 points again= UHSOB . THE AMATEUR FOOTBALLER - August 20, 19 71 Old Carey and MHSOB will be an even °Qo" . If old Carey play up to their home :ound advantage - I pick ,them to win . Parkside after their walloping last week can do better, and, they will at home . Old Xaverians, the early glamour side will need to pull themselves together or find themselves in trouble at the Parkside oval - if Parkside are desperate enough ney could win . All ears will be on the other game's = :ores at Kew, and if my earlier predictions flop, Hampton Rovers have a remote chance ax making it - Kew are good at home however I'm going for the Rovers to put in a last minute bid . I've again enjoyed writing for 'C' Section. I congratulate the teams making the four and trust we have a good final series . To the boys facing relegation - bad luck keep by your clubs and try and pull them back to the higher grade . My Selections:- Parkside, Old Ivanhoe, Hampton Rovers, Old Carey, Fawkner :LEX JOHNSON. D SECTION Looks as though the four is now finalised c~:cept for a miracle, it looks like Power House will be left knocking on the door . Ia Trobe Blacks would have to beat Old Camberwell by more than 10 goals and of course Power House must win to change the four - a few "ifs" and "buts" . This week Assumption at home to Power House and I+think that the visitors wi win this one . They have to. La Trobe Blacks and Old Camberwell will be a game full of interest, for Power House anyway, but I cannot see La Trobe Blacks ;_ :=tting up . Old Brighton should have a win over Elsternwiek and if the margin is big enough could see Brighton up into second posin. Alphington play State Bank and Alphingi .n must -win this if they are to keep top sition and retain much needed morale r the finals . In the last game of the day St. Kevin's liould have no troubles accounting for Old Geelong . SELECTIONS : Power House, Old Camberwell, Old Brighton, Alphington, St . Kevin's -KEITH FINDLAY . E SECTION North Brunswick to play West Brunswick Royal Park should be a grand final but a loss by North would mean losing second i~l :cce. West upset me last week by bad kicking. North have definite incentive for win~1ing this and I'll go for them . AMP Society will remember last week's ,ame for a long time and I think that they could keep that beautiful feeling for just long enough to account for the ANZ Bankers. Beverley Hills will bela,t Brunswick but to no avail . Last week was the big chance and the hills were loud with lamentations which could have sounded likel music from Mentone. National Bank have had a diabolical year, imila;r to Old Trinity in A Section and to many other clubs in seasons past, but 1878 will be a new start . That, indicates that I don't fancy their chances against Heatherton today . Old Mentonians can have the day off, no worries about losing fourth place and an opportunity to inspect the opposition from over the fence. SELECTIONS :- North Brunswick, AMP Society, Beverley Hills, Heatherton - SYD WHITFIELD. F SECTIO N The final matches of the season will be watched eagerly b y many in F Section. The results today will determine two places in the final four. Leaders Bulleen-Templestowe will be out to atone for last week's reversal when they meet University Reds. Top place could be at stake and Barry Murphy will be anxious to have his charges back in top gear for next week's big clash . Because of their desire to do well, coupled with their proven all-round strength, I select the Combine to take the points . In a deciding game, Thornbu ry journey to Mentone to meet St . Bede's, who aspire to top berth . Thornbury need a victory to cement their final position . Their fierce itackling and pressure football triumphed last Saturday - however they will find St . Bede's just as difficult to overcome. St . Bede's have the advantage of their home ground where Thornbury will notice the different bounce from that of thei "John Cain" and St. Bede's are my selection after a fiercely-contested match . Thei game at Harry Trott between former V .A.F.A . "greats", Commonwealth Bank and Footscray Tech ., is In fact an elimination final - the losers will not be playing next week . Home ground advantage together with a stronger, more purposeful attack should see Bank win after an even contest. Glenroy, playing their last game under that name (they become Therry C.C . Old Boys next year) meet LaTrobe Reds . The home side could find the Reds at a low ebb due 'Co the vacation, but I must select LaTrobe because of their apparent overall superiority when judged on the season's performances . Monash Whites are at home to Bulleen United, whose late run home was thwarted last week . The United side will be keen to finish with a win to prove they are the best side out of the four . Their forwards should kick 'their side to victory as the Student defence has not proven their strongest line. Best wishes to the clubs who will be competing in the finals and my thanks to the Editor for publi shing my prose this season. I hope I will be invited by the Editoress to write again in 1978. SELECTIONS :- Bull een-Templestowe, St. Bede's, Commonwealth Bank, LaTrobe Reds and Bulleen United, with a hope that they'll do the right thing for me and keep me at the top of the Tipsters' Tally tonight NORM NUGENT. THE AMATEUR FOOTBALLER - September 17, 1977 Page 5 JUNIOR SECTION 1 Moorish University's chance of playing in the finals Is most forlorn, not only do they have to win by a huge margin to make up the percentage gap but they hava+ . to beat Ivanhoe to do ~ . Ivan hoe will win by a far greater margin than the !13 points when they last met and will utilise this opportunity to round off their preparation for the finals . North Old Boys who were built up for their fine win last week over the Blacks will havq a keen interest, to say the least, in the Old Scotch versus University Blues game today. Old Scotch won by two points at their last meeting, the Blues must reverse this decision and also win by something in the vicinity of eight goals . I feel that the possibility of a finals place will be a great spur for the Blues and that they will win but not by a big enough margin to displace North from fourth spot. The bottom two sides, Coburg and Ormond should provide an entertaining game . Coburg will be eager to score a win as will Ormond who did provide several surprises for higher ranked .sides. Ormond will win beoause of their greater enthusiasm and better forwards . Thd remaining game between University Blacks and St. Bernard's should be ,a beauty, with the winner taking second 'place . St . Bern+a+rd's won easily in atrocious conditions at their last clash, today I feel it will be a differeht result. The Blacks were shocked back to reality by North last week ; their better back line and equally as good forwards should hold them in good stead in a very close and interesting game . SELECTIONS:- Ivanhoe, University Blues, Ormond, University Blacks - CLIFF BASTOW. JUNIOR SECTION 2 The four and the placings thereof are now finalised for this Section . Congratulations to my co-tipsters Norm Nugent and Syd Whitfield for their fine tipping performances . sees of th e many of do~ur clubs andd players. s It ~ hasforbeen season which has not been kind from the weather point of view, but nevertheless they have put their best foot forward and competed . Top side Hampton Rovers play the up and coming boys from New . I understand that the Hampton ,seniors are taking several of their juniors to help them gain a position in the ,C Section four . Despite this, form points to the home side and I expect the Rovers to start their final run homq today. De La Salle are at home to Caulfield Grammarians and will most surely be concentrating on improving their game for next week's semi-final against Hampton . Caulfield had a good win against High last week, but will not he strong enough to beat "B . eLa" Old Paradians travel to Geelong in what shapes as `a most uninteresting game . This should be an easy win to Geelong, unles s Page 6 the Parade boys decide on a last minute piece of glary for 1977 . West Brunswick were most disappointing last week and entertain Reservoir Old Boys in another game which lacks interest . Reservoir have had good wins in the last 2 weeks and will not relax today. SELECTIONS :- Hampton Rovers, De La Salle, Geelong, Reservoir Old Boys - PETER NATHAN . 150 UP FOR OLD CAREY VETERAN Ian (Ocker) England played his 150th gam e for Old Carey against Fawkner and all at Old Carey offer him hearty congratulations for his fine service to the club . ^Ocker" has played with the seniors and reservc_ .and this year is reserves captain . Good form saw him back with the seniors for his 150th game. He played his usual solid game and kicked 2 goals . "Ocker" has been one of Carey's greatest clubmen and h as been a very active worker for social functions. He has been mainly a back m an and plays good clean vigorous football . As reserves captain he gives plenty of encouragement to juniors 150th TO POWER and HOUSE l STALWART Congratulations from everyone at Power House to Tom Cross who plays his 1 50th game with the club rtoday . One of the fittest players ever to don the Power House jumper, Tom's dedication to training and example on the field are an i nspiration to his team mates. His leadership qualities were recognised this ye a r when he was appointed captain of the club and he has led the side with great distinction . In his youth, Tom's prowess in other fields of athletic endeavour were also well known, but with marriage and advancing years he has decided to concentrate all his spare time on football . Well done Tom and best wishes for your big day today, 100 GAMES FOR ST . KILDA CAPTAIN All St. Blida CBOC players and supporter ; congratulate our captain Jim Carroll on reaching the 100 game milestone . Jim is L i his first year as captain of the Saints and his enthusiasm and desperation both on the training track and during the game are true examples of his inspiring leadership . He has served on the committee for some time now and has been club secretary f,- r ,the last few years . Congratulations Jim and we all hope that your involvement in the club continues for years to come . PARADIAN GETS AMONGST- THE GOALS Old Paradians full-forward, John Jordan, who kicked 11 goals against Old Melburnians last Saturday, brought his total goal tally to over 500 . In addition, his game tally was the best by ~a Parade player for 44 years, and has only been exceeded twice in the history of the club - by Alan LaFontaine, who kicked 18 goals in a match in 1929 and 'Phone Kyne, who kicked 12 in 1933. Two well known identities at Alphington Les Liberman and Neville Jones both have reached the 50 game mark for the "Tonnas" . Well done boys, let's bee you boil': make it to the 100. The result was never in doubt as Coburg made good use of the wind in the first quarter to kick 8.5 to 11 .2. Warfe, Sullivan, Jim Sabri, and Gardner (5 gls.) were best for Coburg . St . Bernard's battled hard but went down by 10 goals . In the only last round match affecting relegation, Old Geelong outclassed Hampton Rovers to win by 12 goals and save, their position in 'D' Section. Calder, Hopkins, and Whalley (O.G .G.) and Nash, A. Moore, Ryan (Hampton) were best . THE AMATEUR FOOTBALLER - August 20, 197 ; THE AMATEUR FOOTBALLER - September 17, 1977 Page 19 'HUTCHY' HANGS UP HIS BOOTS Power House stalwart and well known Amateur identity, Peter Hutchinson has retired after a magnificent 356 games . This milestone is only 9 games short of the Amateur record held by another Poweir House great Les Gordon . 'Hutchy' made every endeavour to keep going this season but persis*ant leg injuries have forced him into rel .irement . He has a formidable record, few, if any, could match including seven club Best and Fairest awards . Hutchy played in 3 premiership teams and represented Victoria as well as oaptaining the club . A great personality off the field, Hutchy has always enjoyed a drink after the game and made many friends within Amateur circles . He has always received great assistance from his wife Gwen and they both continue to be strong supporters of the club . 'Hutchy' is an extremely popular master at Camberwell Grammar School and a well known figure within the association of Lord Sommers Camp and Power House. Well done Hutchy and good luck from all at Power House ! 250 GAME S TO COLLEGIANS PLAYER All at Collegians heartily congratulate Darryl Tucker on reaching 250 games, and thank him for his outstanding service to the club . "Dazza" beigan his long history with Collegians in 1961 with the reserves. He quickly realized his potential and advanced to the A-grade side where he became one of the best half-forward f,lankers in th e Page 20 game. His quick thinking and brilliant play led to many a'Callegians victory and stamped him as atruly elusive half forward, Although he was unlucky to miss Slate; selection during his career, "Dazza" was elected captain of the A-grade side in 1971 . A great clubman who ns always willing to help the ladies working on afternoon tea, "Dazza" is still showing the odd touch of brilliance in thq third eighteen where his football experience is invaluable In the younger players . Age hasn't dampened his enthusiasm and who knows (perhaps Ferg's club record may be in jeopardy! Power House congratulate Bert Bredyk who plays his 50th game with the club today. Bert's career was interrupted last year by a severe kneel injury but he is now starting to recapture the form which made him an outstanding Under 19 player and captain . As a knock ruckman or forward Bent is always under notice with his strong play . He has recently won his way back into the seniors and we look forward to a great game from him today . Congratulations on A.M .P. half-centuries to Bob "Hanger" O'Rourke, goalsneak extraordinaire and David "Punter" O'Sullivan, rover turned wingman . Both have enjoyed a tremendous year and have contributed greatly on and off the field . Congratulations go to David (Hi Ho) Silver on playing his 50th game for Geelong today . A former captain of our junior team, David shows leadership qualities in courage and dedication during a game and at training. He is known for his persistence at social functions and has never been known not to see the four quarters out . "Hi Ho" always comes through under pressure and we hope today will be no exception as he leads us to a most important victory . "200 UP" TO KSW VETERAN Today's game against Hampton Rovers will see Gary Johno" Johnston play his 200th game for Kew . All at Kew are proud of Gary's achievement and wish him well . He started with Kew in 1966, the year the club won "B" Grade and for the early part of his career, looked likely -to play reserve gradg for most of his days . At that time Johno" had the bad habit of kicking the ball straight up in the air . However determination is the key to Gary's success and he has proved over the years, his ability to overcome his bad fault and become a regular and valued member of the sen4or side. At the moment, his greatest joy is to kick goals from the half-back flank his tally ~or the year -2. Gary has served the club on the committee and was treasurer for 3 years . Well done Gary from all at Kew. 100 UP TO ELSTERNWICK DEFENDER Congratulations from all at Elsternwick to Phil (Bruce) Scott on playing his 100th game. "Scotty" has been a devasting player on the back line over the years and his marking has to be seen to be believed . We all hope he keleps up the good work and aims his sights to 250 . THE AMATEUR FOOTBALLER - August 20, 1977 OLD XAV'S CLUB RECORD Old Xaverlans congratulate Peter Fraser on equalling the club record of games played - 234 held by Peter Raffaele. Like 'Rats' Peter has given a lot to the club since he started with us in 1963 straight from school . He has been a committee member for a number of years and was secretary in 1968 . In 1969 he took over the reins of CaptainCoach of the Reserve XVIII . Always a for- ward due to has great pace he has been a prolific goal scorer and is currently he7ading the 'C' Reserve Section goal kicking list . He has played in two premiership sides both A grade reserve in 1964 and 1966 and regards these two wins as the highli ght of his playing career . A mild mannered legal eagle during the day Pelter has been fortunate to have had the backing of an understanding wife Phili pa and a great mascot Andrew . AJAX DEFENDER'S 100th AJAX defender Michael Rosner played his 100th game with the club last week and received the congratulations from all supporters and fellow playqrs. Michael a dashing defender, has taken over the key position of centre half back and has been part of AJAX's success over the past few seasons . A fair and skillful player he has stopped many "name" players and is a credit to the club . We all hope to see him notch his 200th game in rthq same manner achieved his first century . Caulfield Grammarians applaud John Gregory who has now passed the 50 games mark . John came up from the juniors this season and his height and ability to take, a good mark combined with a bit of pace soon earned him a place in the senior team . Unfortunately injury has kept him on the sidelines for some time and it is only during the past few weeks that he has been able to reach the half century mark. The club considers itself fortunate to possess such an "up and coming" and with his potential big things are expected of him next season . Sid Jones played his 50th game last week for ANZ Bank . We all congratulate him on reaching this milestone and trust that he will be around for his next 50. With his head still somehow intact, Tony Robinson played his 50th game for Old Geelong. ',Robbo" has copped more punishment on the field this year than "Smokin' Joe" ever got in the ring, but he just keeps coming back for more . One of the gutsiest players to ever wear a geurnsey for OGS . "Robbo" has put in some great games this year. Congratulations Tony, keep the good work up -and your chin down ! Congratulations to Len Gray on playing 50 games with Uni . High. Len plays either as a rover or wingman . This is his best season and we all hope he will "keep it up" . Ken Coughlan, De La Salle's boundary umpire made his 50th appearance with ;the senior side against University Blacks . Keep the good work up and keep following that line wherever it may take you . Frank Herd played his 50th game for Geelong last week. Frankie returned from overseas this year and didn't take long to find top form, being judged beist on the ground in his 3rd and 4th games . A brilliant player able to lift a whole team he is a necessary cog in our wheel . Son of a former Geelong great (Fred Herd) Frank is following in his father's footsteps and becoming a most valuable clubman . Melbourne High extend congratulations to Derek Scott who played his 50th game recently. His drive, ability and enthusiasm have been an example to all players and his efforts on the field have won him the respect of all . Congratulations to Melbourne High's Gary Jones and Tony Short, each of whom has chalked up his 50th game. Tony's ability and class on the field have won the admiration of his fellow players, while Gary's drive and high-marking are an example to all . Strong forward Neville Sellers has played his 50th game with Reservoir Old Boys. He is the first player to come from the U'19s and play 50 games, a fine effort . Nev has tremendous determination and although he has played in defence, this year he has been full forward . His personal tally of goals is not high but he has given many away with his teamwork . Congratulations to Garry Rutty on playing his 50th game with Reservoir Old Boys . Blessed with great pace Gary has forced his way into the seniors, and has been playing well as a wingman . National Bank a bye Paul Chapman cracked the 50-game barrier with Ivanhoe last week in what has been a quick rise from junior to senior football . In 3 years Paul has developed into a handy player, and is presently holding down a position in defence . His keeness and ability to play team football has brought out the best in him, and with all going well this guy will do well at Ivanhoe for years to come . Today it is the turn of two of the younger players at Old Haileybury to feature in the honours listing" . I refer to John Corrigan and Graeme Billings, both of whom played their 50th game recently . John played his 50th against Old Scotch, and his tight play in the back pocket was one of the features of the game . His timing, tenacity and temperament make( up for his lack of size . Graeme played his 50th last week. Well done, and keep up the good work . Warren Clark recently played his 50th game with North Old Boys. Warren began with the Under 19s where he was an important part of last year's Junior Section 1 premiership team and has now fought his way into the senior team . He is a very long kick, fine mark and speedy player . There is little 1doubt that he has many more good games in him . Congratulations form all at North . CENTURY TO UNITED MAN Bulleen United are pleased to congratulate Bob Lillie on playing his 100th game with the club this week . Bob first started with us,in 1972 and since then has been a regular member of the first playing either backflank or forward flank. 1975 was his best season when he was our Best and Fairest winner, playing mainly on the back line .
