Siapo is a traditional Samoan art form. Also know as Tapa, Siapo is a symbol of Samoan culture.
Siapo is made using the bark of the Paper Mulberry Tree as the canvas.... and the dyes used in Siapo are
all made from nature too - from all sorts of different bark, seeds and roots.
There are 13 common symbols used in Siapo which are reflections of items found in Samoa.
1. Fa’a ‘au’upega the nets used for catching pigeons and turtles.
