More student-friendly program design: We want to engage the members to help us in creating programs they will find fun and valuable. Young people are our best resource to gauge the effectiveness of our offerings designed specifically for them. 2. Promote a long-term relationship with the arts: We want to establish long term relationships with students so that each generation will pass on the importance of involvement in the arts to their children to continue these traditions. 3. Enhance student performance: Studies indicate that when students are involved in the arts, their scores improve overall, even in subjects like math and science. The programs offered at The Mary C enhance and partner with school instruction, and area school superintendents support and endorse the program. We are fortunate to have received a jumpstart in funding from the Bacot/McCarty Foundation to kick-start the program with a $2,500 donation. Author Matthew Guinn deftly weaves historical and fictional truth, salted with contemporary social satire and traditional Southern Gothic into a tale of shocking crimes and exquisite revenge.
