The Journey
Supporting our students
l All
students are in a form group where
their welfare and development are the
responsibility of their tutor.
l Our
tutors are supported by their head
of year and working together they ensure
that all students are secure, safe and
successful.
Netball
l The
tutor teams are led by our progress
leaders who ensure consistency across the
school.
l Each
tutor group represents one of six
houses which encourages co-operation and
team work across the year groups. This is
designed to work in conjunction with our
rewards system to maintain high standards
of behaviour, attendance and achievement.

The school works hard to fulfill it’s aim of
developing the whole person and this is
particularly evident in the highly successful
Young Enterprise teams.
l Special
As a result of the good teaching, strong guidance
and the many opportunities to participate and
lead throughout the school, the students are
exceptionally well prepared for the next stage in
their education, employment or training.

department develop opportunities for
students to reach their full potential as
they progress through school.
arrangements can be made for
those students who are gifted and talented
in sport, enabling them to organise school
work around thier training demands.
l The
library and ICT facilities are available
after school.
l We
encourage independent learning and all
students have remote access to their work
and resources whilst working at home.
l The
secure Parent Portal allows access to
reports and further information.
Expectations are clear and used systematically,
and the recent introduction of an on-line praise
system has been particularly effective. The
real-time display of house points on the screens
around the school motivates the students.
They have access to good quality, independent
advice about how to decide on their future
careers and the opportunities open to them after
they leave school.

I am a swimmer and rower and train most days. Southfield
gives me the opportunity to do my homework during school
due to my flexible timetable, which will benefit me in the
future. All of the staff are encouraging towards our goals
and support our activities both in and out of school.

The Southfield Community
Southfield is committed to working with the local, national and international communities. Pupils from local junior and special schools
are regular visitors. Boys and girls take part in the many partnership sporting events, exciting science shows and lessons and attend
workshops for the more able to support their learning as they come to the end of their time at primary school. Our young leaders
support local and County events in PE and sport and work in primary schools to support literacy and numeracy.

Silver Surfers
All ages are welcome at Southfield. Our senior citizens’ tea dances are very popular and the “silver surfers” join our girls in the ICT
suites to surf the net and keep in touch with their families. We have links across the Commonwealth, India, South America and Africa
and students travel to Europe for language and art study.
