Have you gotten your flu shot yet? Don’t wait—get it today! Need Personal Documents Shredded? Opportunity strikes for secure disposal of your personal confidential papers. Pioneer Federal opens their PII shredding opportunity to the community. Sept 14, from 10 to 1. They’re offering snacks too. 15 16 Social Engineering Social Engineering is the greatest computer security threat of the decade. “Social engineering is the art of manipulating people so they give up confidential information. The types of information these criminals are seeking can vary, but when individuals are targeted the criminals are usually trying to trick you into giving them your passwords or bank information, or access your computer to secretly install malicious software–that will give them access to your passwords and bank information as well as giving them control over your computer. Criminals use social engineering tactics because it is usually easier to exploit your natural inclination to trust than it is to discover ways to hack your software. For example, it is much easier to fool someone into giving you their password than it is for you to try hacking their password (unless the password is really weak).” Below are The 7 Red Flags to identify a Social Engineering attack within an email message. Please be familiar with these and survey your emails before you click on a link or open an attachment; even if it appears to be from someone you know or someone within the organization. You may want to take these home and share with other family members to protect them from economic loss. 17 A Note from Human Resources From Tammy Brickzin: JeNece, Kirsten and I have created an enrollment form for any staff member interested in taking the BLS and NRP trainings. The cost for the Health Stream for NRP is $141 each. BLS Health Stream is at a cost of $24.00, These costs are EVERY TIME THE COURSE IS ASSIGNED. There is also a cost of $10 for the completion card for BLS. This new form requires the manager signature before an employee can take the course. By signing the form, the manager is acknowledging the cost will be charged to their department. PLEASE NOTE: In the event your staff member cannot complete a course they were assigned, or does not pass the exam, their department will be billed the Health Stream amount for the assigned course($24 for BLS, $141 for NRP). If they wish to take the course again, another form will be required, with the cost again billed to the department. All signed forms must be given to JeNece BEFORE the course can be assigned to the staff member. DEPARTMENT MANAGERS HAVE THE FORMS. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kirsten, JeNece or myself. Thanks for your cooperation. The BLS Authorization Form needs to be signed by the department manager and turned in to me by September 1st to be enrolled into this course.
