Summary for NY Harbor






Double-crested Cormorants nesting on most
islands
Largest colony is Swinburne Island (started in
2002)
1700 cormorants banded since 2006
Birds banded in 2006, 2007 have returned to
Swinburne to nest.
Band sightings range from Alabama, along the Gulf
of Mexico, coastal Florida to New Hampshire
Population growing but not returned to peak high
